So I guese after 96 pages there is no real answer/fix for the 380-400MHz Fsb "Wall"? I myself am stuck @ 385MHz FSb with my E6400. I have tried all the bioses except 507 which ppl are reaching high clocks on, so i will try this tonite and see how it goes. Anything else to keep our hopes up, and this thread alive, plz post it.

I have the wifi ver.
Wifi was working great up until a few minutes ago. Board killed my mushkin xp8500 too! Also tried windows repair in wireless config and still no go. wifi is enabled in bios. using 0804.

Anyone? :shrug:

I took my wifi out .:p:

did you uninstall the asus drivers and reboot?
is windows finding the unknown device?

just disable it in the bios.

I saw an updated driver on the asus site but that was awhile back .
maybe that will help if you havent tried it yet

Damm sorry about your loss there trans am. After hearing these horror stories i feel like selling this board before it zaps my beloved Team Xtreem 2gb kit LOL!

Hi mates I would like you to get some awnsers, if possible!

What's the max voltages to use w/ an air cooling system?

I run my Conroe 6600 at:

CPU: 425x8
RAM: DDR2-850
PCI: 101
PCI Clock: 33.33
Spread Spectrum: Disabled
Memory: 2.1
Vcore: 1.35
Timmings: 4-4-4-8-4-30-0-10-5-10
Idle temps: ~43º
Load temps: ~50º

I would like to do 425x9 but I don't know wich is the max voltage w/ air cooling.

I noticed that if I raise the v-core to 1.55 I get load temps of +60º is this safe or what?

Thanks in advance for the anwsers. Next step phase-change this cpu!

Quick question about how the board normally boots. I've been troubleshooting a no-POST mobo, and it seems that every time I turn on the PC, the fans spin up for about 1 second, the blue ASUS LED goes red... but then everything turns back off.

It takes about 10 seconds (just as the CPU fan stops spinning) and then the motherboard makes another attempt. At this point, it USUALLY stays on. But once or twice now, it's looped through this process a couple times, starting, stopping, starting,stopping, starting, stopping, and then all fans/HDD's spinning up.

Not sure if this is possibly a PSU issue, or standard bootup procedure.

This is normal, but only if it reboots one time.

Try the newest bios, 0804.

This might be caused by "not enough Voltage" issue. Make sure your using the proper Vdimm for the DDR. Also make sure your Vcore is set properly.

Unfortunately, I cannot get into the BIOS to set anything (or update the bios, as suggested). The machine was running fine for ~2 months, started acting really flaky, so I set the memory to run by SPD in the bios. That was the last time I ever got any kind of signal to my monitor (no POST, no nothing)

I tried some slightly underspec ram (400, vs board minimum of 533, it's all I had) and nothing changed. My normal ram is 2 sticks of really good stuff (crucial ballistix) and neither stick works in any configuration I've tried (alone, together, moved around various ways..)

It's kinda confusing, I really don't know what died.

I was wondering what kind of system temps you guys are getting?

My system temp, reported through the asus AIsuite is ~38c-40c

My CPU Temp Idle ~36c, Load 42c - 44c

Have not overclocked yet, Just got the sustem up and running and now I am going to read back through the forum for good settings.

Any good recommendations on settings for overclocking. Every time I use the Ai Booster and adjust the settings it wont boot up after the restart

Sorry kinda noob to this board... I have been messing with this new build 3 straight days. I have the same board and Crucial Baliistix 2x512mB (1gB kit) with stock BIOS 0604.
Which ACHI driver are you using? Intel or JMicron?

When I run Intel 965 Chipset INF Update Utility, it installs drivers for ICH8:eek: instead of ICH8R??!? :slapass: All the USB drivers in Device Manager shows ICH8 USB Controller.

Also running Intel Matrix Storage Manager, reports that there's no hardware support. It thinks the MB has ICH8 without RAID. And the SM Bus Controller in Device Manager has the yellow ? mark.

I then enabled BIOS Intel RAID and was able to install driver for the SM Bus Controller after patching to Win XP SP2. BUT all indication in the Device Manager still shows that it thinks it has ICH8 instead of ICH8R (USB Controller, etc.). AND Intel Chipset ID Utility STILL reports chipset as G965 although it shows the correct ICH8R I/O controller!!! :confused:
FYI, I have an IDE DVDRW drive connected to the lone IDE port and a PCI IDE Controller add on card for my boot IDE hard drive.

Any comments are MORE than welcome and appreciated. I have been scouring the web with no info for the last day. This is bugging the hell outta me. :mad:

EDIT: Also there's still an "Unknown device" in Device Manager after installing all latest drivers including the RAID (JMicron & Intel) drivers.

UPDATE: Solved the "Unknown Device" in Device Manager by installing the Asus ACPI driver. Did a download from Asus instead. Thanks to previous poster several pages up and also Psyire. :)

By archives, do you mean Asus' FTP archive? I have this very problem and is trying to resolve it without installing Asus junk applications on my build.

Just update driver in device manager and point it to your asus cd.

eva, i've noticed the same thing... and wonder why the board does that as well...

it would be interesting to see if the strap changes as well when you change dividers...

there are as you said only 2 ways that my board does the startup/stop/startup and both are the ways you described

I flashed to 0804 tonight..... still does the spin-up/turn off/ restart every time unless I'm running auto everything in bios.
