No shots, but how about 9x500 on a e8400 ;)
1.39v lol but it's stable :)
I think i need to update the bios...maybe
Last one I did was the one where they fixed the corruption problem...I don't know how much better they have gotten past that point.

After I painted my board. I used AS5 on my mosfets(also someone at TPU said that kind of paint plastic paint can absorb heat(they use that plastic in heat gloves) and can lower volts temps hard to believe. only testing can prove.....)under the water blocks. I had to lower my voltage just a touch .25 I remember trying to go lower maybe not but I remember it from before. Now I don't water cool this chipset. I have but I have found it pointless and that it's really for looks maybe? IDK I have been up to 4.8Ghz with a QX with this E6700 I have cranked the voltages with water and no help.
450FSB and then it's just like the quad no more. Even on phase it does not like it past 1800-450 FSB.
Which should be top out for the quads....
IDK I've always been AMD before this....only 775 board I have had. I can say this. This board has been a trooper and has held up to some major f ups.
I havent tried anything higher than 0901, I dont know how much it improved neither.
Slim, how is your WC build doing?
Stuck
I havent buy anything since my last purchase on mid november. Still a lot of money needed before I start with the process :(
By the time I have everything, I will be thinking about Nehalem 32 already hahaha
I thought you were just waiting for some BP fittings? I got mine, got up and running but the acrylic failed on my XSPC res dumping water all over my left foot (it was mounted outside the PC). Got a new res in (no acrylic this time) and should have it back up by New years day.
I was actually waiting for BP BlackFreezer, I already got it and its been sitting in its box for 2 months already.
Sorry to hear what happened with your res, you now know that acrylic is a no-no when it comes to wc :)
Just got my striker 2 today, got it off ebay for a great deal, its never been used, i dont know if i should set it up, or dump it. I have 2 questions, will this board do 550 fsb ? and how do i flash to 901 bios or 1102 ? does asus have a flash utility ? i have only had gigabyte boards to this point, so kinda new to asus, thanks for your help.
ASUS website has the BIOS files. go to BIOS then find EZ Flash and that will let you flash the BIOS, you can either use a floppy or USB drive.
It will be kinda hard to achieve 550 Fbs, depends on how high you want your RAM, how much RAM you have, How many slots are populated, what temps will your NB reach, how good your chip is etc.
Wow i thought would 550fsb easy, well i want to get 510fsb stable is that possiable ? i dont see the raid drivers on the disc that came with the board ? are the raid drivers on the asus site to ?
Hi and merry christmas and happy new year....
Today i bought an Q9550....
First i would like to know why the multiplier change and its not stable. I HAVENT INTEL STEP ENABLED.... Is an issue??
bios version 1104
EDIT : ok fixed. I also disable the C1.
500Fsb will be a lot easier to achieve with a dual-core and 2gbs of RAM, you might be able to achieve what you want, but you will need patience (and good cooling).
RAID drivers are on the CD, just leave it while booting and that will let you create a RAID floppy.
Hey slim got my board running right now, got all the drivers off the cd, are there new drivers for audio ? nvidia drivers available ?. Im only on 402 bios, so where do i get ezflash utility, from asus sight ? need to update bios, then let the fun begin on the overclocking:up:, well i have excellent cooling on my e8500, and for now im only running 2 gigs of 1800 cas 7 ram. I read the whole thread, i see what you and others went thru, and i apriciate your help, i think you know alot about this board by now.
Dont know about audio drivers, I think they never got updated lol. I dont like that card that much anyways, but is ok to begin with.
Nvidia drivers available, if you mean nForce, well I use 15.23WHQL, you can get them from Guru3d.com
Get BIOS 0901 and put it in a USB drive and use EZ Flash which is located in BIOS.
I just try to help people and open their eyes to this nice board, a lot of features but you need to know how to handle it :p:
I flashed to 1104 bios the latest, had a bad flash, couldnt get the board to restart, took out the cmos battery for a hour, all is good now. Ok my next question is, this bios is very confusing, im used to gigabytes, i have no idea where to begin to overclock this thing.
The reason why I said 0901 is because 0901 is known to be the first BIOS to be 99% stable on most cases, but 1104 is fine. I like to start from the first BIOS then start updating if I run into problems or if I see my overclock gets stuck.
First of all, you need to disable all the spectrums. You also have to go to onboard configuration and put Plug & Play to YES and Video adapter to PCI-E.
Remember to disable C1E, SpeedStep, Virtualization and any other CPU thermal feature.
After that, everything you do for overclocking is basically volts and FSB/RAM.
Ok i will disable those things. This is really weird bios, im lost, is so so different, but i will disable those things first, cause computer is acting weird. I dont see a place to acually increase the fsb ?.
As soon as you get in BIOS, in that screen you are able to change the FSB. You first have to set it to Manual, then Unlinked and that will open the FSB menu so you can change it to any number you want.
Watch out, sometimes you will select a FSB and below it it will preview it and that will actually be lower (ex: 1360 FSB will actually show as 1342 I believe), this ALWAYS causes me no-boot after restarting.
Disable IDE devices if you dont have any, this will speed boot times.
Ok wow, im kinda disapointed in this bios, there aint awhole lot of things in there for overclocking. I see where to change the fsb, what i dont get is where in the world does it tell me what my cpu will be running at ?, im going to have to go in this thread and copy somebodys settings, im freaking lost, so different than gigabyte wow, so far my overclocks have resulted in no boot:D, guess this is going to take time.
now thats sucks you cant see your cpu speed, what is up with that. I did manage a small overclock, anymore and wont go, i guess the gtl voltage need to come into play, i have no idea what they do, i got my cpu ok, need to push the ram higher. I guess not bad for a few hours playing, and thanks to your help, i want to see what this baby will do, if i can get 515fsb stable, i may keep her.
