on Air or Water both clock the same .. on Liquit nitrogen/dice then the 2 is slightly better...
Guys which bios seems better for clocking a Gulftown 980X on this board???

Love this board.
Yo guys !
long time no comments in this thread. Here goes an other one:
How much IOH-Core is recommended using a dual gpu card plus one physX plus on pcie sound card ?
This site says: " For this step, there are only two voltages you should play with; VTT, and IOH. IOH is easy, if you are running a single PCIe card (graphics card), give the IOH 1.3V, if you are running more than one PCIe graphics card, give it 1.35V".
That would mean in my case I would need about 1.4 V IOH-Core but I am running with 1.2 V:shocked:
F8g works great for me, stable and good performance, slow mode works great and bclk is awesome

F8K Beta bios out
only the above update, unless more or hidden Sata3 updates, unless someone can test this with a sata3 sdd drive.Quote:
3TB+ HDD support

Thx Nam-uk, that is precisely what have been looking for.
By the way how much voltage did you set on IOH-Core ?
Hi peeps
I just found that the BIOS file X58AUD7.F8K is 2048k big, instead of 1024k.
This will hardly fit intot he BIOS flash chip unless only half of the flash chip was used so far!
Hello Gigabyte...major screw-up!
Or am I missing anything here?
Q-Flash does definetly reject it for it's size
Alot of gigabyte's bios have been upped from 1024 to 2048k file size.... You need to download and install the latest version of @bios or use flashspi to update bios. You will need to continue to use these until gigabyte update q-flash to handle new bios file size.
You have to use the Dreaded @BIOS i.e
latest is in the Bios link i posted above , just click @BIOS.Quote:
* Please use the latest @BIOS or FLASHSPI.EXE to reflash BIOS
Doesnt sound right, u tryed using @Bios to flash ?
been told the old bios can not do 3TB this why the issue,Daft really, going to stick with the F8G till this is sorted if ever.
Yeah thats right, only newer bios do support partial EFI with the 3tb drives..
yah new bios is hybridEFI bios capable of 3TB+ storage
Hi folks,
@bios did the job for me, thanks. Running BIOS F8k now, but I will have to look into adjusting a few settings. 4.1 GHz are stable now but it takes longer for the board to POST.
On another matter, I am pondering buying a SSD. I came across a comparison test of the Vertex 2 drives, 34 nm generation vs. the new 25 nm flash chip using model. OCZ has messed up there it seems, most tests of the new 25 nm model came out roughly half as fast as the almost indistinguishable older model. Plus, the newer model has a lower formatted capacity. So overall there are suspicions that 25 nm flash chips have yet again a lower number of write cycles, since OCZ seems to reserve another 4 or 8 GB for reserved blocks.
How are SSD users here using their drives? Are you avoiding write cycles on your SSD, such as putting your pagefiles and other caches on a regular harddrive?
I was planning to put my OS on the drive including all caches and pagefiles since that's the main point that needs acceleration under Windows.
myself i have no mechanical drives in my system. so probably eating up a lot of write cycles each time i press the compile button. (C++, C# programmer)
however I did create a ram drive for my IE temp files, that that saves some write cycles.
Could someone please help me?
I'm thinking of buying this board but before I do I wanted to know what version firmware the Intel RAID controller is running & what version the SATA 3 firmware is running?
Thanks
Hi folks,
I hope somebody is able to help me out of my RAID problem; I installed a new controller Highpoint (RocketRaid 2720). Every time the system starts the POST I get the message: " "Warning: Have Option ROM can not be invoke Vendor Id 1103H, Device Id 2720H". As soon as I deactivate the Onboard RAID of the ICH10R the message does not appear.
What is causing this message ?
Is there any conflict between ICH10R and ROM ?
this is due to available ram, there isn't enough for the ICH10R ROM and the RocketRaid 2720 ROM to load.
exactly which ram it is i can't say. however there is more detail on this on the web somewhere.
I had similar problems and opted to just use the Highpoint card instead of the ICH10R raid.
there is no work around.
Does it mean I should plug in more RAM to get rid of that issue ?
i believe it has something to do with amount of ram below the 1 meg area, or 640KB area.
so adding more ram won't work.
i suppose one solution would be to remove your video card.
but i don't think that is helpful.
nope your stuck.
Server motherboards for some reason have a way around this problem.
but since i don't have a server motherboard i haven't looked into the problem with more detail
if by chance you do find a workaround. let me know. i spent several hours searching the net to a solution and found a brick wall at every turn.:brick:
