Have you tried to boot at the highest possible FSB in Bios. Then run Eist and Clockgen. This did work for my 740M.
If you boot at 133 and use ClockGen (and eist) to get way past 200 this may bee the problem (have not tested it on my P4GPL-X). Still ClockGen reports "insane" values for PCI-bus when I tested max. FSB with one of Celeron-M (over 50) which would render most of PCI-based HW (as sound) useless(and perhaphs damaged). CG just reports PCI as (FSB-OC/FSB-std*33) as I understand it..

winterwind, what is that cooler? did you modify the power connectors on ct-479? how'd you put that cooler on?

that is AC Freezer 4 with Thermaltake 12 Extreme fan ;)
cpu is benchable @ 3100mhz with warm air and 1,62v

adapter power connector is modded, fdd molex has replaced with common molex, as u see on picture.
but the cooler would go without adapter mod also..

razor_sniper, increase multi, turn-on PAT, lower the timing (if the ram can handle to cl2-2-2-5) to increase SPi ;)

It's bad ram... Set @ 3-3-3-8 @ 200mhz... Can do 220 2-4-3-5 with pat off.. But I only get 28.046 then... So I really need new ram... But no money ( girlfriends are expensive :D )

Now I am seating at 2760Mhz @ 230Mhz in the RAM and 2 3 3 5 and can only get about 26 seconds for some reason.... I cannot get it to boot at 2 2 2 5....

I'm going to buy this mobo, CT-479 and P-M 740 or 750 - what U prefer ??
Cooling WC (I do'n know if the CT-479 + P-M is no problems with FC 24/7)

I would say the cheapest that OC'es the most.. but that you will not know until tested.. unfortunately.. ;)

Get a freaking 730 they seem to OC the most for the money...

I just got today two 740. Both will boot over 2600 with stock voltages, and first will even work fine at that speed. Best what i got Superpi 1M was 2915MHz with air. Only memories are not so good. Not tight latencies, now its 2.5-3-3-5. Wish those could be 2-2-2-5! ;) But still im pretty happy with these. That another i will sell away... Is there someone going better with stock voltages (CPUZ says 1.312v when running, and 1.344 when idle) 8M Pi, than this? I got it just 2650MHz! ;) Not bad i think. :banana:

what do you mean by that other one, the one that you have in your sig, or the one that will boot at 2600, but wont work fine?

I have now two 740's and one 730. So that another 740 and my sig 730 im going to sell.

I have a request for you guys.... I'm thinking about building a Dothan setup pretty soon and I was wondering if yall could look at this system I'm thinking of piecing together and maybe make some comments about things I could change or improve on.

250mhz with cl3 (maybe cl2.5) shouldnt be hard for them, even on the voltage-limited asus boards. i just bought one of them and will post resuslts from my dad's ultra-d based a64 setup.

That's an awesome price for that ram though... that would allow me to get 2 gigs. The timings aren't as good, but I'd rather have capacity than timings.

I looked around, but I can't find any X800Pro AIW's.... from what I can tell, there's only the X600Pro, the X800XL, and the X800XT that have one in my price range. On newegg, the X800XL AIW and the X800XT AIW are the same price, so what would you guys recommend? I haven't done a whole lot of research on the X800XL's.

I've been working alittle on one of these P4GD1 boards but needed a replacement BIOS after mine got a little FUBAR (remember NOT to leave your asus mobo CD in the drive....I had a reboot that went straight to bios check and asus has a .rom on the CD's root -> result was a not so great flash :slap: )

Anyhow after a bit of elbow grease, an OEM 770 and some love I produced this :-

i need to get my ram running faster, its crazy im still only on the 1.4vcore and can do 2.7 :)

Im using systool to try and change my multi but it will lockup after a couple of seconds after using it, what other programs will change the multi on this mobo?
