Wake from Vista Sleep Issues?

However, waking it up has been a very hit-miss affair. I've only enabled the keyboard driver to wake up the computer. The mouse is disabled for this. I can confirm this, because I can move the mouse and it has no effect. If I hit a key on the keyboard, the computer wakes up right away. This is the hit-miss part.
1)Sometimes the display comes right up, and things seem fine. However, if I put it back to sleep, then try and wake it up, the computer comes on, but nothing happens. bootup either halts with a flashing cursor, or the monitor doesn't even come on! In that case, I am forced to hit the reset button.
2) Alternately, the computer comes up, but I will get a windows message about a program closing. "Host Process for Windows Services was closed" or the ethernet port is dead. If I try and diagnose, the computer once blue-screened! Or it does nothing, even crashing the device manager. I am forced to reboot.
So with either of these scenarios, sleep has bought me nothing but headaches! What is strange is that it works flawlessly on my two ASUS P5E-Vm boards. The only ASUS SW I installed was the EPU utility, but i since uninstalled that. I have also unplugged all USB devices other than the keyboard/mouse. I have an ati 4850 video card with the latest drivers. No difference w/ older and newer video drivers.
Help, I'm at wits end! I'm thinking yet another install, but sheesh, that takes me 10+ hours in order to get SP1 and all of my software.
I hate to respond to my own thread, but was hoping people could at least confirm that they are able to wake their P5Q Dlx from vista s3 sleep? Or am I the only one with this problem?
