Could this be done with a P5K-Premium / Blitz Formula?
Could this be done with a P5K-Premium / Blitz Formula?
Anyone test bench and result?
Thanks
P5E -> Maximus:
Would probably kill the board.
Even the layout is same there are few chips missing from P5E compared to Maximus.
It might work but I recon there arenīt that many volunteers for a high risk test like this.
P5K Deluxe / Premium -> Blitz:
Blitz uses IDT lane splitter so most likely does not work.
P5E3 -> Maximus Extreme:
Same as Blitz, IDT lane splitter on board so...
Just flashed to Rampage Formula and everything seems fine. I will play with it more later on tonight. Im not an expert in the field of over clocking but Im learning from you guys so keep up the good work! :up:
Em.. Where I can find info about "How update Bios with EZ-Flash ?"
I just got home from work, I had to leave early cause I'm (cough cough) sick :rofl:
Going to test some clocks and redo OS, still have the web pages wont refresh issue and Everest is being a :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana: not reporting any ram info.
I installed some MS web :banana::banana::banana::banana: via an update yesterday so that might be the cause of the web pages problem.
CPUZ reports everything so I might just need a new version of everest.
Going to post the main setup bios screen and maybe some pll can helpl with some ram settings

Stilt
Did you have any negative effects from this conversion?
Just about to redo my OS to try and rid myself of a few bugs.
Everest is NOT reporting any ram info,
Web pages are sometimes refreshing and sometimes not.
CPUZ is reporting everything properly tho. Any ideas / suggestions?
I'm running 4.20.1170 Ultimate, I think its the newest.
Maybe a reinstall will sort it out
Grn, that's the newest official version but the most recent beta 4.20.1307 is pretty much perfect for the Asus boards! Have a look for it.
Grnfinger, could you please check the range for CPU PLL?
Is it possible to set values from 1.4 to 1.5v? I'm just asking because this would be a nice way to counter the overvolting of said voltage...
thnx kup newer version seems to be the ticket
All good? I hope so, because a few more positive words and I think I'll be flashing the board too...
Well as some of you may know, I flashed to 0505 a few weeks back and since then my system, has been THE MOST STABLE it has ever been, not a single crash for the best part of 2 weeks. :up:
I then tried 1004 and guess what came free with it, that's right...random reboots. Folding/Prime/OCCT stable for as long as I could want to test it and yet would still randomly crash. :mad:
Back on 0505 now and the problems seems to have gone away again!:rofl:
I installed MS Silverlight yesterday, I would recommend NOT doing it.
Web pages refresh now after that pos is removed.
New Everest is working 100% and showing ALL info as b4.
Still going to redo OS to 64bit for I have another 2GB's of ram sitting on my desk begging for some use.
Was alittle concerned last night but all problems are resolved !
Both bios versions are built for the exact same chipset logic. The rampage version might attempt to tighten up a bit of the behind the scenes stuff in an effort to flex the higher binned x48 version of Bearlake. Using this bios with an X38 chipset may cause slightly higher NB/MCH voltage requirements for settings that would normally be stable using the original Maximus bios.
I hope that with a more mature bios it will have a more flexible setting. They have TRFC maxed at 42 again, but its beta bios 207, so there is hope.
Did the mod yesterday, and so far so good. I have no glitches or bugs whatsoever. However, this board acts like the P965 in that it runs very loose with higher fsbs. Lowest TRD I could run around 470is fsb was 8, with higher NB volts, compared to bios 1003. This thing does work however, and goes to show what I said earlier about these chipsets and boards being the same. If only asus wasn't such a jerk. My advice, hold off a while longer and see what the next bios release for the Rampage brings. So far, I see no reason - performance wise - to do the conversion. My 2 cents.
im going to drop in a retail q9550 this friday :yepp:
hopefully 1004 bios + this cpu = very oc friendly. im hoping for 4ghz, but even 3.933 like i have now would be sufficient as its equivilent to about 4.1 or so on a q6600.
congrats on all of you with the rampage bios. im still going to wait for further releases then pick the best bios option based on what everyone is doing here. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK
do you recommand 1004 bios ?
