Nub, what fans are you using on your rad?
I have been switching between the scythe 110cfm and the scythe 133cfm, ATM Im on the 110's. Doesn't seem to make a lot of difference.
Same settings Sergio other than vcore and set mem to pl9 turbo, I think this Prime is allowing me to drop the vcore but not positive about that. This prime seems faster or runs through the loops faster. At the end of each loop the temps get the hottest so if it doesn't stay there as long the temps drop back down faster. At least that's my theory lol.
wow, and its still getting that hot. How much hotter is this chip over your other 9650, voltage to voltage?
I have 2 sensors that are screwed, They read from 6 to 8c higher than cores 0 and 1. On my other chip they were just bugged at idle but on this chip they never even out, so I have just been going by the CPU temp in Everest. The other chip had a little higher VID and could run up to 1.475v bios before it got to hot to prime. I ran 30 minute Prime at 4.5ghz earlier and had to stop because CPU temp hit 80c. Cant control the temps on this chip past 1.39v even with water.
Been playing with my settings for a couple of days and this CPU just gets better and easier to clock. Been Prime steady for over 5 hours so far. Gotta love it. http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=616822http://i18.photobucket.com/albums/b1...on/screen6.jpg
Hy. I have a question. What do you think about a combination of this water cooling components:EK Supreme + Magicool 240mm Extreme + 2 Scythe Ultra Kaze 120mm 38mm 2000rpm + EK flexible tube + black metal fittings + Laing DDC-1T PRO (modded to Ultra) + rezervoir EK DDC X-RES 100 + aditiv Feser Base Corrosion blocker? Is it a good one? Is compatible with Gigabyte EP45-UD3P and/or Biostar Tpower I45?
Thank you,
Florin
I figured 2 of the sensors were bugged but im still a little surprised the other two were reading that hot with your water setup. Maybe another rad or different rad would help keep that hot head under control. When I added the mcr320 it dropped my temps another 5C, thats with yates low speed fans, ~50cfm.
@Nub, very nice vcore there. Were you at 1.39 for 4.5GHz?
I managed to lower vcore for 4.3GHz - this is as low as it will go. 1.344v primes for three hours then the PC restarts, which is frustrating, but I'm happy with this. Max temp was 65C.

Lenny: Nice OC! Was at 1.396 or maybe 1.408 trying for 4.5ghz.
Hoss: I thought this was suppose to be a good RAD. Could be my setup IDK, this was my first time setting up water cooling. I am using the Feser One also, would that cause the temps to run warmer than distilled?
Still going at 1.344v. If this passes I will keep it as my 24/7 clocks.

Thank you Sergio. Just stopped Prime at 10hours 15 min passed 492-502 tests. I guess your faster mem speed is getting you through more tests in the same time frame. maybe causing you to need a little more vcore also.

My CPU score is still lower in 06 with the new CPU. Has to be because it is at 1:1 mem.

Impressive cpu speed at that voltage, congrats.
Always nice if you manage to get one of these, but as usual, it's luck of the draw.
Thanks Jupiler.
It is a good rad, im just wondering if your setup MAY respond to more rad, mine did. I started out with just the mcr220 because my case was predrilled for it and use the stock 140mm top fans. The way it is positioned in the case is not exactly ideal (fans overhang the rad on 4 corners allowing some air to be pulled around the rad instead of through) but would still keep the 9650 around 65c at 1.36-1.37. I bought the 320 and the yates sl to add to it and my temps stay around 60c even with my northbridge block in the loop. I use distilled water but I dont think the feser would be hurting you.
Thanks,
Are you running this on 1 pump? My other thought was that my res is too large, its about the size of a large bong for lack of better description. I have it full to the top. I was wondering if the water had too much time to warm back up before it made it back to the CPU? Less water may be better but IDK .
NVM that should matter because it leaves the rad and goes to the CPU.
yea just 1 355 with an xspc res. top, the most restrictive part is the cpu block followed by the 220. I have mine going pump-> cpu-> nb-> 220-> 320.
I went res- pump-rad-cpu thinking the coolest water would be coming out of the rad. Maybe I should try it a different way next time I tear it down.
Sergio made me feel like a sissy for running 1:1 so I went and got w7 32bit and put a 2x1gb kit of Reapers in to try and get over 1200mhz stable. :D Just the beginning of another long night of Prime.

Thank you.
Does anyone have a chart or graph of the heat output in watts for the q9650 at different levels of overclock? I was trying to find a way to determine the effectiveness of watercooling as there are existing charts for heatwatt loads for particular radiators.
And does anyone have a graph of the power wattage demands at different levels of overclock? This is the only variable that changes in my setup, and I'm wondering if a new power supply is in order..
Thanks
Here is mine at 4.7GHz running wPrime 1024M. No idea how accurate the Dynamic Energy Saver utility is but it is the best I have.
At 3GHz it read close to 55 watts under the same load.

If you want I'll run it as whatever speed you would like as long as it's stable enough.:D
