Hello Slim / Tyke
I'm also on a dead end with QX9770 FSB at 450, can get it to load Vista at 475but it's not stable with linked/synced. With my actual Striker II (3rd) board I can actually get it to boot lynked/synced at FSB500 /2000 but halfway loading Vista it freezes, no matter how much voltage I feed NB/CPU & I can assure you that I've tried everything, except for GTL values which I'm completely lost with although I would love to know someone who actually get's a better QX9770 OC playing with them & knowing exactly how they affect CPU/FSB (I've read the theory over & over again but I still don't get what GTL values are better/worse for every situation)
I remember I got all excited after reading original Anandtech review with QX9770 500 FSB, also with 8Gb OCZ RAM running at 2000... I just couldn't wait to the same,
I also remember long ago how I told Tyke in Asus forum that I was waitin to receive my QX9770 to run it linked/synced with my Crucial ram at 2000 & he answered something like "good luck..." I didn't believe him... c'mon if I could already oc my previous Q6600 G0 1066FSB to FSB 1950 real easy I was sure that the little jump from 1600 to 2000 was a piece of cake...but nop. I even wrote Anandtech an email asking them about the settings they used to get that OC...no answer
In fact I'm quite dissapointed with the QX9770 FSB thingy but not at all with performance & I do actually have a little envy of the E8600/8400 croud running at crazy FSB's linked/synced. In fact I've ordered a 8600 E0 just to play around with it & see it linked/synced with ram at FSB 500.
At the moment I'm still waiting for CSX to get me a matched set of 8Gb which they said they would as soon as they got some this RAM back in stock. Although it seems that Tyke's experience with it has not been so great. My first try with Diablo3 4Gb kit was not very good, it performed worse, higher timings, needed more DIMM voltage & NBv than my actual 4x1Gb Crucial 2000 kit so I returned it to CSX with the promise on their side of getting me a good 8Gb kit...lets see what happens.
CSX has informed me that when they built the 1st Diablo3 2000 kits they received a really good batch Micron D9 chips that could reach top speed with crazy low timings but last batches & possibly futures ones were not so good & has forced them to raise timings to 9-9-9-24 1.9v for both GTR/GTS 2Gb & 4Gb kits which they have also updated their web info www.csx-memory.com. I'ts kind of dissapointing after all the big fuss made with the first kits. Last news is that now they are out of 4Gb kits & are waiting to receive & new batch for testing
