it is very dangerous to buy this motherboard?
i need an expert or another slidr
my config 4400 x2@2.72 or 3200+@2.9
gbFF 2x512
enermax 660w
thanks for your help
i don't want to burn my processor
After playing around with this board, I kinda feel good a bit.;)
Pretty much just single defective case.:)
great to hear it.
well i wonder too, if it's "dangerous" to build up a system with this mobo or was it just "bad luck" (the cpu-killing thing)?
mfg
which means that much more time to play with ram, as there's a lot of options ;)Quote:

Folks,
Sorry if I'm detracting from the main topic, but I'd like to know how OPB's CPU's died?
OPB are you using the sameboard which fried your CPU's or a brand new one? Also, in you first post, you mentioned about a high pitched noise as the voice of doom :D
How did you make that connection?
I understand there were some "circumstances" surrounding OPB's CPU issues.Quote:

You want to play with beta stuff you had better be ready for the consequenses. Letting the world know about problems that will not exist in final boards just damages the reputation of some good hardware IMHO.
We have had these boards in OCZ hands for while with no such problems. ;)
Sorry for your lost CPU's OPB.
imo, the Expert is no longer in beta stage if i can buy it from a retailer ;)Quote:

heh, the video card and cpu side of things seem to be pretty solid. DFI has a past history with all of us with releasing awesome products that take about a week or two to clear up most of it's problems :D

Problem is from NF2 days DFI boards have had this beta feeling thru their entire lifespan.
IMHO I think its safe to use the board OPB was an isolated case.
Btw OPB what PSU were you using when this happened?
Okay now the guys who actually bought the board :P Did you get it from Monarch or where?
SO OPB/Tony for 2x1gb ballistix you suggest driving strength 11~15?
It is kind of the way the world works. It sucks but it just a fact. If you want to be first or fastest there are risk and issues. Have you ever bought a first year car? Always tons of recalls and issues Vs. the 2nd and 3rd year. My buddy just bought a 05 Mustang...had it two weeks and the radio died.Quote:

If you left it to the engineers they would not launch until every issue was found....so the product would never be ready. Management would launch a product the moment it ran...so that they could see the return on the investment. Many times management wins...
He just plugged in the CPU, turned on the system.... and the CPU was fried.Quote:

You hit the nail on the head... RECALLS!! No computer manufacture AFAIK has ever recalled a motherboard due to the fact that it was a mistake. Look at the DFi ultra D NF3 board, there was,and still are issues with that board and DFi will take no responsibility for it. They simply just say "opps",and give the people a new revison 2 board. :slap: These companys need to be held to a certain amount of responsibility, just like any other consumer product. :poke:Quote:

If you have a retail board then it's final and not in the same pre-release category.
As far as BIOS, you guys all know Oskar and the never ending beta BIOS program that he runs.
If someone with a retail board that has an issue then that would be news worthy. Also understand that Oskar and OPB are buddies, so who knows what BIOS he had and indeed he is a front line guinea pig.
If someone wants maximum reliabilty and a "mature" BIOS, then maybe an ASUS is what you want. No gurantess there either though. :)
Peace
In case anyone missed this.Quote:

This I don't know. I only get feedback from the guys I know that had beta and now final boards. No dead CPU's that I heard of in my little world.Quote:

i hope there's a FAQ or tutorial on driving strength stuff soon
i'm gonna be using pc3700 ram on mine (gigaram mach1000), so if anyone's got any suggestions for settings to try...
Try cleaning it with alchohol if you got AS5 on anything. I thought I killed mine for sure going naked and even chipped the core but after pouring a bottle of alchohol to rinse the AS off of the little caps and reassembling, it worked. It was non bootable when I had it naked so I was sure it died.Quote:

UNLUCKILY, the fireman used so much water to extinguish this fire that it resulted in the flooding of OPB's apartment one of the lower levels. He has been informed by the lanlord and the authorities that his apartment will be uninahbitable for at least the night, and most likely a longer duration. He has no access to his personal belongings at the moment and won't be able to send out any cpu's (Mr. Lobber ;) ) until the electricity can be turned back on so he can rummage through his stuff. Obviously, there won't be any immediate updates to his testing. Hopefully the authorities will be quick in finishing up their investigation and get the whole complex back up and running........If there's any urgent need for anybody to contact OPB immediately, drop me a PM and I'll relay the message ;)
