later this day i´ll show some results in the other thread.
So far the best I can do with these econo GSkill 2-3-3-6 3200's using memtest86+ v1.55 is:
FSB=241(ddr-482) at 2.5-4-4-8-1T with 2.7 vdimm
HTT=3x 2430 MB/s
Not bad for a $100 2*512MB kit I suppose???
Even stretching to 2T I cant get past 246-(ddr-492) but take a huge hit....
Does anyone think I can do better without spending $200-ish aka TCCD's???
I thought that a pair these might be a viable option in the same price range:
http://www.newegg.com/OldVersion/app...218-405&depa=1
which are Winbond AA4T's but dont wanna do a vdimm mod and dont know if I could do better with 2.8 vdimm max?????
Appreciate your opinions.....
Now for the better news.....
My 3200 LBBLE 0515GPBW does 266*10 runnin a 166 ram divider at default vcore (1.35)
Its currently cpu-burnin testin at 270*10 with same ram divider so far, so good with a .05 bump to 1.40 vcore. Max loaded temp is 41C, system at 28C... :slobber:
gotta say I'm very impressed and happy so far... :D
Hello mate, sorry to hear you keep getting unlucky with your chips. Do you live in europe? I thinking of getting a SD and so i will want to shift this chip if i get a good SD. Ive seen your posts and cant help but feel for ya.Quote:

I got a screenie @ 3ghz but is just a suicide shot, will post tht in the other thread
Mines a 0516CPBW, maxes just shy of 2700 @ 1.7vcore, though I think the board might be limiting me a little (just a little though). I run 2600 24/7 @ 1.55vcore.
how much benefit is there to removing the shim on the cpu? does it cool better without it?

well I got my Venice and the rest of my setup last week and ever since then it has been an overclocking nightmare that has given me a headache. I've got a 3500+ Venice CBBLE 0512DPAW and I cannot get this thing clock worth crap at all. I did a search for that code and it came up at anandtech and those 2 guys were havin probs gettin theirs to OC past 2.6, yet on [H] forums there is a thread and 2 guys state that they got theirs to 2750 (one on air 1.7vcore and the other on water 1.4vcore). I will give you the rest of my rig sepcs and I would greatly appreciate if I could get some help with this. I am new to the A64 but have been learning it very slowly.
MSI K8N Neo2 Platinum
3500+ Venice
Thermalright XP-90 w/ Vantec Tornado
2x512 PDP Patriot PC3200+ XBL
BFG 6800GT OC
520w OCZ Powerstream PSU
If there is any other info needed just let me know. I can be reached on any of the messengers in my profile if that is how you wish to contact me me or just post in here.
Thanks.
EDIT:I got my vcore maxed at 1.55 and 10%, I got the vdimm at 2.8 or 2.85, and my memory settings are 5:6 (233mhz) 2.5-3-3-6-10-16 1T (asreported by CPU-Z). Right now I got it running at 285*9 which is 2565. I had it up to 295*9 and it was prime stable for 13+ hours but then I was told to try OCCT and it failed that right away. SO I dropped to 290*9 and still failed OCCT. Dropped to 285*9 and still failed OCCT. I am still running the shipped BIOS of 1.5 in my board.
EDIT2: I just flashed to the official 1.8 bios. Yes my ram is TCCD.
Got my Venice earlier today, looks like a good batch :D
LBBLE 0516GPBW
DFI NF4 SLI-D
OCZ4200EL
X850XT
Watercooled (ambient around 30 degrees)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...Venice160v.jpg
And the added thermal resistance (read heat retention) to go w/ it.
I remove mine after I am reasonably sure the chip is 'OKAY' (read not rma - able since works to specs). Takes me under a minute w/ single edge razor blade and CAREFUL FOCUS on what I am doing.
CAVEAT: CPU CHIP IS CONVEX (think cup upside down). I lap them w/ 2000 grit sandpaper on FLAT glass and even I get a slightly reduced edge (Maybe due to not taking enough off, better safe(HAH) then sorry). This of course is NOT for the unsteady of hand and / or faint of heart.
If you go through all that:
Spring loaded WC and even a hyper6 (AIR) with proper clamping should be okay. Thermalright XP... has a VERY GOOD chance of CHIPPING the core since the putting it on moves it ACROSS the chip. (This is based on Personal Xperience).
I clamp stuff very tight and no issues there. Also I can clamp w/ a hyper6, or WC much better than w/ an XP...(too springy) so the temps are lower.
So if HSP stays on - all coolers above okay to good.
If HSP comes off - NO THERMAL RIGHT CLIP ONS! (if you have old screwon, OKAY!)

I would so far have to agree,,,,, a good batch???...
somebody knows this stepp ?

well just got a 3000+ LBBLE 0516CPBW today from monarch i'll see how well it does later on today. it seem everyone with these have been maxing out at 2.7.
does anyone use OCCT for testing stability?? I was told to use it even after my cpu primed for 13+ hours. Ever since I have tried to use it, it hasn't made one full pass at all. I even flashed to the 1.8 official BIOS from MSI and only oc'd to 210 and it still failed. That is ridiculous and I am guessing that this prog has a problem with A64.
Looks like my chip just wanted more voltage. I bumped it up from 1.45 to 1.55v and it is priming right now @ 2.5ghz. What is the highest voltage it is safe to give a venice with air cooling? Also, what should the maximum temp be?
Thanks
It might just be OCCT unstable. But still it might be stable for many other tasks.
Is it stable while gaming ?
yeah it is pretty much stable except for the OCCT. I can't seem to get this thing to atleast 2.7 stable tho. Seems that <2.65 is about all that it will handle. Anyone help me out with this?

agreed ! i had my winny up to 1.65 (bord max) and it was around 50c loaded, BUTTTT. i dont like the idea of that 24/7 ;)Quote:

1. Lower temps
2. It allows me to have a smaller divider (3/4 instead of 2/3)
3. Allows me to have a higher HTT (x4 multiplier instead of x3)
4. lower volts (which makes 1. true)
I was kind of dissappointed by my chip, I was expecting 2.6ish and possibly 2.8ish. I even waited 2 months for venice. Oh, well, at least I got it to 2.4!!
My temps were also very good! normally 40-45C load

dumb question I gotta screenie in my attach files options...
how do I get it into this reply opened instead of linked???
@bonzer = your ram is too slow man, 225 and cl2.5? I thought that is gskill?
