a banias 1.5 might gat to 2.1, but a dothan 1.5 should (with luck) get a ghz oc (2.5ghz or so) on stock voltage (assuming the mobo can handle the fsb, which this adapter effectively eliminates as an issue :))Quote:

venice
what justification is there for venice over dothan? fanboy stuff aside that is :D
Hey man look at the sig I run two Intel systems ;) Next ones going to be a AthlonFX for sure tho :)
As Anand points out the SSE and FP performance of Dothan isn't quite up to par with current desktop chips http://www.anandtech.com/cpuchipsets...px?i=2382&p=13 also I like the integrated mem controller on A64s and they have 64bit support, with 64bit XP right around the corner (and hopefully quick software/driver adoption) 64bit will be the way to go. Besides, even though Asus did a excellent job, this socket conversion thing is still pretty hockey adjusting the voltage and getting a powerful heatsink on it would be difficult. But I'd still like to see what a volt modded dothan can do under a cascade :slobber:

its been done, look under the "dothan overclocking thread" results are :slobber: worthy. i dunno about an fx rig, i'd wait to see what turion, venice, and dothan with a ct479 can do, all are much cheaperQuote:

Well, lets hope its just a side effecy of today, considering date posted.
This adaptor needs a power line going to it and some voltage jumpers. They add that and I'm sold.
doesnt need voltage jumpers, volts adjustable upto 1.95v in bios, the adapter does have a power line, its the floppy power cable visible on the adapter.

I can`t belive!!!! Another nice review but no real OC tests and benches. Every overclocket know that the most importent think is high FSB. WHY they dont do any tests with FSB ~200MHz??!! I dont know how about the multipler adiustment in BIOS but there is a soft to do it from WINDOWS.....
I think what we have to take into mind is that its knocking on the door of FX55 at the rubbishy OC (as far as FSB to us is concerned) they have it at. imagine how it will behave with the experts here. what we must be looking for in the reviews out is consitancy in performance, and so far the adapter has made it consistanly clear that its well worth the investment over the 855 boards.
Will this adapter work on lets say an Abit IC7-Max 3??
