Lol thats my fault op and im sorry. I made op a unit not to long ago. It wasnt ready the last time he was over, but he woke me up before he left and i kinda just threw the rest of it together. Guess the dam thing didnt work after banging around in his truck for 3 days and him finally putting it to use.

Thats what you get for rushing me, and not putting my units seat belt on!

this is my vacuum pump. and yes you can use a regular compressor, but it doesnt work nearly as well

Saftey devices, Ok so what do we really have in this little cascade 3 oz of high pressire gas in the low side 1 oz of low pressure gas there also and 1 oz of another med pressure gas, In the high temp side there is 6 oz of R507 and 1 oz R290, There are two thermal relays (current sensing) two internal thermal cutouts, 1 temp control for low side initiating and 1 pressure switch, The internal volume is .65 cuft on the low temp side and .85 on the high temp side, the rupture disks are 650 psi. the lowest Burst pressure is 1200psi, so with the refrigerants I have in this system it would have to be put in the oven at 350 for 45 min to get to a pressure that MAY rupture the system if the rupture disks didn't do it first., this would be the wrong place to run it. At 120 ambient the pressure in the system is 150psi on the high temp side and 265 on the low temp side. The rupture disks will burst at 650 psi and do so in a controlled manner into a small pipe and screen. As I have said before the biggest danger is from frostbite. The enclosures(Optional but recommended) are 20GA steel. Think this with a foot added to the length.

Seems to be alot of fanboy responses, especially from those who shelled out big bucks and feel hurt.

As has been said, there isnt anything original occuring anymore. There is limited room to be innovative. Its come down to quality, and price. If Asetek can supply a unit that requires no modifications out of the box for the best performance, looks good without costing you anything, and is cheaper then the competition, they'll win. If nVENTIV can beat Astek to it, they'll win, its as simple as that.

As for me? I'm having my own unit built, for a third the cost of a Prometeia, or a Vapochill :)

Although not in the market for this sort of system at the moment I find these threads about asustek and nventive very interesting and I feel a bit more about them before I read them, so I am glad I am an XS reader.

My requirements for this sort of system would be

a) Big choice of companies and products
b) Someone with a good level of support
c) Easy to fit
d) Good performance and construction.

I guess, to sum it up, a good level in confidence in the purchase, and to be honest I am still not that confident yet.

I'm looking forward to bowmans tests so hopefully he will also give some information on ease of fitment and construction as well as the performance. What looks at first sight to be an easy task, measuring temperature and reporting, actually seems to be somewhat of a can of worms similar to lies, damn lies and statistics, so a back to back test with overclockability of similar hardware will prove better.

Lets hope the hardware turns up.

Well, ive seen their unit prices all over the place. I think FrozenCPU.com has the cheapest price on the Vapo setups but i could be wrong...

Asetek said it would be around $859 USD which pretty much spanks the Mach 2 in pricing.

Click that link above, 799 Euro is their promo 1 month price. It's going up a month later according to that page. But...that is including VAT and no shipping so who knows if that will reflect true US pricing.

Is soon as it is available I'll unmount my Mach I from my PC-65 and sell it in order to get a Lightspeed...... :D

I would also like to build my own phase change but I don't have the time (university costs much time...) to learn about phase-change and realize it.

I think we better wait and see what kind of luck the first few people that get these have. Then wait a month or so just to be sure there isn't any obvious design flaw that causes premature failures.

I seem to remember a certain company selling phase-change units... everyone praising said units... then these units popping their evaporators without warning.

If it's better... great. If not, great 'cause at least someone tried. :D
