It's not 1.2v, that was the original spec but Intel increased it because they were not achieving the results they had hoped for.
It runs stock at 1.3xxv something.
I agree. I was just quoting the spec so anyone reading could understand what Intel had to do. Like you said, they had to increase the default Vcore due to the silicon straining process wasn't as good as they had planned. lets hope their revised core will lower the Vcore back down to 1.25, which should produce less heat.
WAY TO GO CHARLIE......... :toast: :DQuote:

You think it's worth it to mod the IC7 or should I just grab a P4C800-E???????
C
You MUST mod the Vagp in case to run 5:4..... ;)
Charlie,
What does the shot/epoxy in the tube do exactly? And what type of epoxy do you use?
I imagine there is a thread here someone can point me to.
I'd like to maybe :banana::banana::banana: around with my old P4PE ;)
Charlie just stick with the fx-51 my brotha or wait for the fx-53 :)
bad 5:4 rep??Quote:
maybe try a P4C800 later (although it has bad rep for 5:4 too
Every asus i865/875 I've tried has done 305 5:4 minium 3d stable :D
P4P800 up to 327 5:4 3Dstable. P4C 313 5:4 3D stable. both without Vagp mod.
Well you see my DI tube is quite ghetto... :DQuote:

Since I didn't build it with a thick enough base, it has big temp fluctuations. So i mixed up some "60 second" 2 part epoxy, mixed in BB's and dumped about 1cm into the tube...so now it's like I've got a thick base and the temps stay more stable, albeit nowhere near as stable as phase change.

Just a little comparision:
I am using a barton 2500+@2200mhz,1:1,adata 8-3-3-2.5,daily use overloaded windows, cat 4.2,dx 9.0b,xp;410/385(needed to downclock from 439 which is 100% clean even with aa and af due to my current psu which doesnt have the enough power and downvolts the gpu, because of this, nature has a few artifacts)
Good to hear, Macci...Quote:

I just read a thread yesterday that was talking about a lid of 285?? Why do you think the P4P800's are OC'ing so HIGH??
I know my prob is the mobo...
I can go to 4600 at 1.63V pretty easily and then voltage all the way to 1.75V doesn't give me 1 more mHz. I ran a 3DMark benchie at 4417 and completed all tests then when Nature ended it gave me a "Futuremark error in Windows XP box" with no score. I was almost out of DI and turned off the rig to let the temps drop and attempted another 4635 with the di base measuring >-50C. Fired it up straight into WinXP with clockgen and it wouldn't hold. I've used this method before for the "fast screenie" but no luck here...still think i'm bottlenecked by the mobo.
Macci, are those numbers "out of the box"?? 300+ 3D out of the box?? Hmmm.....
Macci, let's just say (pretend) that the CPU will run 3D on a P4P at 310 (4650mhz) @ 248 memory speed 2-2-2-5, how do you think it may compare to a 3.2C NW at 16 x 265 1:1, 4240....
Do the 400mHz make up for the divider?
And as for P4P800, deluxe or non-deluxe?? And what config/BIOS would work + Prescott?
thanks!

I found the same thing, on all the P4C800s I had, but I got in a P4C800 in this week which will lock up in 3D at anything above 285 5:4
Must be a rare example ;)
Is that oldskool epoxy? No special metal one? And just mix with some copper?Quote:

Macci, since I'll be dicking around with some dryice (God, please let it go ok this time :)). I have a P4P800 full mods right here and a P4C800 full mods coming, what do you recommend? I was thinking to mod the P4P800 to run PAT @ 1:1 (Bigtoe's mod), or isn't that worth it?Quote:

I'm gonna cool that NB good, but do you think it needs subzero cooling, or will a fan directed to that be sufficient? ;)
I'll be using FUGGER's FX5950U with a Prommie hooked to it (I'm not in the mood to dry-ice that one too ;))
Hm my 2.4 + P4P will run at 286, but 3:2 because of RAM limitation. Max RAM speed of 225 2-3-2-5 or 220 2-2-2-5 (no vdimm mod, 2.85v).Quote:

I got it last summer. At 286 I hit CPU limitation (screenshot 292, dies at 295).
At least in my case its not my board.
C, right upper corner, you seem to be missing 2 parts there?Quote:

all,
BTW, i just mangled my GEIL heatspreaders to get them off...hope the sticks are oK...maybe it'd be easier to heat them up first in the oven to make the sticky stuff softer?????
Remarked of course... at least there aren't any belt-sander marks ala ***

ctgilles,
wow, great eyes....you know I don't think i did that taking the HS off... maybe though :D
I guess RMA is out of the question

Hi Charlie, I have the same CPU as you (3.0 ES) and the P4C800-E Rev. 2.0.Quote:

It’s very curious.
I’m just tested a little with air cooling, because of the lack of resources and time.
I figured out, or better said it is only a feeling that has to be approved, that the board crashes above 260 FSB and 5:4 ratio.
- I’m sure it isn’t the memory, because it did well in other constellations
- The Board is usually able to run higher FSB; I had up to FSB 300 and above before.
- With 1:1 and 3:2 it doesn’t crash.
- With Northwood and the same setup – no problem at all
Maybe it is the power consumption of the Prescott or a problem in relation to the Canterwood/Springdale chipset. Who knows?

Maybe because on AIR, it just can't OC past 14 x 260 = 3640mHzQuote:

That'd make sense...
I've been seeing that on a lot of heatspreadered XMS BH-5 BH-6 sticks lately :(Quote:

Did the same thing to Rdram. I drilled the rivets out and it had a thin layer of tape btwn the silicon modules and heat speader. One stick survived the operation the other worked just barely so it made the board unstable since it was 16 bit Rdram...Quote:

I really wish they didn't put the spreaders on since I use a fan to cool my memory sticks...

Hey charlie try raising your agp/pci lock. On mine I have to raise it to 70/35 to not get those black screens. Iam running at 320 fsb and the 5/4 is useless. I think its the chipset's fault. Iam about to order a 3.0e I'll be happy with anything better than 4ghz.
thanks guys...
will try 70/35 in the future...
Wolfgang, running at 320, which mobo? If IC7 which mods??
C
Stylist! Welcome to XtremeSystems!
Can't Believe no one has welcomed you!:D
IC7 max3 no mods I did the agp but my vr keeps crappin out. I thought I might get some 5/4 action, but thats hopeless. I removed the mod in bios it says 1.61. I can run up to 335 then the 3/2 divider starts to go. Well, I think it starts going around 330 need some ddr700. You'll need bigtoe's bios use spread spec. when you get cpu errors at high fsb. On the agp/pci lock IMO it depends on what vc you are running. I have a 9600p and need 70 for over 310. The 9000 I had needed 75 for 300fsb. The first thing to go is the sata on pci the raid controler is fine. Sound goes at 37mhz.
BigToes BIOS for Prescott????? Link?
