Hey all,
Having trouble with getting CF setup and working. I know both cards work (by themselves) but it would seem the way I have them in the board that CF isn't recognized. Note also on boot that the 2nd (bottom card) runs with 100% fan and won't spin down on boot or when I get into windows.
PCI-E Setup:
1st - 6970
2nd - empty
3rd - Highpoint RR3510
4th - empty
5th - 6970
I was trying to stay away from having the 2nd 6970 right below the RR3510 to save a little heat and I figured it didn't matter, but it would seem it does? Or is my board just broken :(. Thoughts/solution be great. TIA
I have a similar setup: 2 VCs and a raid card (LSI 9260-8i). If you have SSDs on raid, you'll want the raid card either in slot 1 or 4 as these don't use the NF200 which will bottleneck tall sequentials due to latency. Wouldn't go more than 800MBps in my ATTO tests on the MivE and UD7--with non-NF200 lanes, it could go to 1600MBps (1GB test, raid cache is 512MB).
However, with 2 VCs on slots 1 and 5, putting the raid card on slot 4 didn't work for me as it couldn't detect the card--I didn't bother booting to see if the VCs will work on SLI. Have not tried to put the raid card on slot 3 as I knew I wouldn't like the result even if it worked. So I ended up with the raid card on 1 and the VCs on the nf200 lanes 3 and 5 as seen here:

The VCs are indeed crowded in there but I plan to watercool them anyway so it works out for me.
On another note, 8GB hypers on tap:

Sorry, didn't mean to imply it's just one 8GB kit. That's 1pc GTX2 and 3pcs GT binned from 2 CMG6GX3M3A2000C7 kits. They're EOL hypers, can't buy them retail anymore.
With 4GB (GTX2 plus top binned GT), spi1m@1.65vdimm/1.135vccio and spi32m @ 1.75vdimm for 2133 7-7-6 with those subs. 8GB needs a bit more as the rest of my GT kits can't keep up with the top two. All of them can do 2133 7-7-6 as 4GB pairs.
I just have 4 x 1TB Seagate drives which isn't a huge bandwidth hog. It was more worried about having the VCs the way you have them in your shot. I've run them close together b4 and they' weren't happy at all. WCing isn't really in the cards for me either at the moment.
I wonder why the bottom card isn't being detected properly. IMO it shouldn't matter where the cards are plugged in, they should still be recognized.
Maybe I'll try:
PCI-E Setup:
1st - 6970
2nd - empty
3rd - Highpoint RR3510
4th - 6970
5th - empty
Just going to be worried about roasting the RAID controller.
Having trouble getting a couple of systems with M4E (B3 1305 BIOS) stable with 4x4GB XMS3 CMX8GX3M2A1600C9 anyone else tried this RAM with this board?
Dont know if you fixed this yet but for me I had the same problem and I had to switch my boot drive off of the marvell sata ports and onto one of the others, it works fine now. I now only use the marvell for my dvd drive.
Dont know if that helps at all in your situation.
My B3 came factory installed with 1101 BIOS.

I will let you know what mine comes with, I purchased from Newegg on 3/22/11 and tracking# says out for delivery so I will post back in a few hours.
1101 on my b3 as well
Follow up to my post above. It's the RR3510 that's causing all my problems. If I use a 5870 everything is good, but as soon as the 6970s go in then I can't get the computer to boot reliably. I'm just going to sell the controller and use the on-board Intel RAID, not really in it for the speed, just the storage protection.
Finally got my Board Thursday and my system together and up and running today. Running LinX at 5Ghz, DDR3-2133, vcore 1.44v at the moment.
Will post up some stability tests and benchmarks shortly. Here are some pics and specs:

New bios 1303 ;)
Yes, thank you:up:
I am currently having some issues that maybe someone has experienced or can help.
I am running 50x100 1.43vcore, auto vccio and vccsa DDR3-2133 8-9-8-24-1T and can pass 20 runs LinX but fail in first hour of Prime95 and get random blue screen 124 BSOD. I have tried raising vccio as high as 1.25v and all in between 1-1.25v. I have not changed vccsa from auto so I raised it to 1.11v and am getting ready to run Prime95 blend now and will report back.
Vcore 1.43v
VDRAM 1.65v
VCCIO - auto
VCCSA - 1.11v
LLC 75%
everything else auto

LINX is good only with SP1 win7, otherwise must use PRIME for stability.
SP1 is installed and still passes 20 runs. I finally got it to pass Prime for 1+ hour. Raised vcore to 1.445v raised LLC 100% raised vccsa to 1.11v and raised vccio to 1.18v
