If you've changed your "write to disk every nnn seconds" to save hard disk thrashing from the default to say 600 seconds, you could lose 599 seconds of data, not counting the time the process could be hung before the whole system crashes or the time lost shutting down, recovering the file system journals (Windows did not shut down properly and needs to check your disk for errors) and then getting up and running again. Depending on your system that could easily be a half hour per crash, assuming the entire data file doesn't get corrupted and has to be reported as an error.
guys, i have another question. i've installed the 64-bit client and boincmgr.exe has no *32 tag in the task manager but the wcg-processes are all 32bit. what am i doing wrong?
Nothing. That's normal. The client is 64bit but the science applications are all 32bit.
