Ehhh maybe, I tend to say that was a bit much vcore for "most" C3's but just not that particular chip.
Treat each chip like an individual, not a collective, never know what a chip will like/do until you try. A good gauging point however is a chips ref volts......
I would say less than .200 over stock is fair game for air and water.
That chips ref voltage was 1.40 so still in my personal safe range, I find most chips stop scaling after +.175 and seems C3 has a wide scale for ref voltage.
I have seen 1.325 up to 1.40 so the range of most peoples maxxed out clocks are going to be on average between 1.50v to 1.575 providing the chips have voltage tolerance.
i have with 955 the best risisng with 1.45V (up 3850 MHz). Up next 50Mhz i need next 0.05v (1.5V)
chew*, does voltage tolerance make a chip desireable for use with extreme cooling?
My 0942fpmw c3 isn't great for my water rig. At room temp with .5 hour blend: 3.7@1.4, 3.875@1.5, no go at 3.9@1.55. At 0C in window, 4.118@1.568 succeeded, and 4140@1.632 wouldn't complete, but didn't fry it (phew!). I'll probably sell it and try again, but want to make sure it's not of use to someone who uses much more cold!

To be truthfull I have not been able to duplicate any proven method of a good cold chip........I have had great air chips do great cold and other great air chips be total crud cold. Same goes for bad air chips, some do well cold some are just crud all the way around.
Still searching for the magical combo and what makes a good chip a good chip but so far it has always been put a chip in and freeze it and test it thouroughly throughout the entire voltage range.
Seems the most important factor i have found is voltage tolerance. However that alone does not make a chip a good chip.....also have noted some air chip with wicked voltage tolerance all of a sudden hit a wall @ 1.7v cold. The best chips i have have had have have 2 common factors. They scale well and have voltage tolerance however this can only be determined once you hit it with max cold.
Still trying to break it all down to a science but so far my data is all over the place and there is not much for consistency.
The chip in the above Prime shot does 6.5 max 1 core. I have another chip here that does 6.7 on 1 core yet trails in prime on air by 100 mhz.
Best I can say is I know what properties to look for when cold but they can only be determined accurately when cold, it's kind of hard to explain but went through a few chips when at the recent michigan event.....I knew right away when I found the "right" chip so much that I didn't even bother testing a few other chips.
So, it has some potential, but the proof is in the pudding. Errr, popsickle...

No icewater or cold outside temps, just 20ºC ambient and regular watercooling.

64NOMIS: I wonder one thing....most memmorys is rated for Intel platforms and the will not work same on Amd platforms. Now i dont yet have any DDR3 platform to test sticks, but it would be great if Macci or someone with help of Corsair, Geil, Gskill, Muskin, Kingston, OCZ, Crucial , Adata could show what sticks works great on the Amd platform with the new Amd C3 cpus. Its much gambling now to get sticks that works good.
Ok I think i'm done with this chip before it meets an untimely demise. Seeing as how I promised it to someone that would be bad.
Prime really isn't my thing but I just wanted to see how it would do with an optimized ram and NB clock.

I have looked in the "Xtreme Bandwidth" forum and "Best DDR3 Memory for PHII" but its not enogh...also if i look after memmorys in Sweden in stores the info is not enogh. Maybe you dont see the trouble but its not few that have it.... its many.
All i want is to help users to choice right memmorys, thats work great and clocks great with Phenom II C3. Brb see if i did miss something in another forums.
im at my parents for the holiday but when i get back home sunday its supposed to be a little cooler in MIL next week so we'll see if i can crack 4.2 on air... i was prime stable for 25 min. twice with 60*f ambients so i think if i can drop them 10* or so i should be able to hit 4.2,,, 20-30* and maybe 4.3 ;)
I think i've met the limits of this chip. 4200MHz Prime blend rebooted after some 3 minutes at 1.52Vcore. Raising Vcore to 1.55V made it reboot even earlier.
Then i tried 4150MHz, 2 cores error after 13-15 minutes, this might be CPU-NB related so i think with some effort i might be able stabilize that.
Furthermore, tested some SuperPi 1M, got it to do 4360MHz but time wasn't that good due to "low" NB. 15.719sec iirc.
Seems like the NB on this chip isn't great, 2.6GHz is stable with 1.18V but 2.8GHz requires heaps more, well over 1.3V
I have to do some more indepth research as everything was on the edge so maybe i just overlooked something.
4.1GHz Prime blend stable is nice but only with appropriate NB speed.
Then again, i'm not complaining with 4.1GHz fully stable with normal ambient temps. :)
You know what is even cooler? The Smart Profiles in AOD :D. I been modding the XML file to allow my custum clocks for my 965. I finally got CoH to work and add some others. I don't have any memory that works with BE profiles, so i don't even mess with it.
Edit: Plus, it work great with CnQ enable. Just like a "Turbo Mode". And since it holds the clcoks, there are no performance hit whiel running the apps due to throttling. Then releases the clock upon closing the app.

Those of you on water wanting to find your max.
I have found a preety cut and dried pattern, you can "shoot from the hip" with +.175 over default vid........and just test your chip from there, on occasion a chip will get mad and want a tad less or on rare occasions you can use more......but i'm def seeing a pattern.
Chip in above testing was default 1.375, liked +.175 and had just enough tolerance to handle that .025 more. I'd reccomend for most to stay at +.175 max though.
instaled, with 500W seasonic (maybe il must it upgrade to 650W?)...to tme i have a troublw with Cinebench at 4 gHz only?:( Why? PUS with 2x 17A is bad for higher voltages? Or is not good my chip C3?
