what kind of instability are you getting at high voltages? I'd like to reproduce those on my system to verify.... I tried 2v vcore and 3.3v dimm and it seems ok but I didn't test anything strong...

I have done a BIOS update and installed a new stick of Corsair 3700 DDR to try if the overl:banana::banana::banana::banana:ing would be better but all I could get the board up to was 140 mhz so it's nothing amazing. It's more of an average board even though it looked very 'overclocker friendly' when looking at the layout etc
140MHz on the FSB wasn't the only thing, check his CPU temps and 12v rail!!!!!!
Also, look at the benchmarks, they are so radically different he couldn't possibly have used the same CPU, FSB, RAM and that!!
How he drew his conclusions I don't know.
Talk about n00bie reviewer to the XTREME :D
On mine it would either lock up after 30-min or right away durring prime95.. Either a lock up or reboot is usually its choice hehe.Quote:

Now that could be at 2gigs or at 2400Mhz.. It dont matter.
Oh mine does this on my barton 2500+ if i go over 1.95v.
Though strange i had it stable in prime95 at 2500Mhz with a low 166FSB just so i could take the voltage to a min of 1.75v on the vdimm.
On my board it seems i cant do both high 3.0+ v VDIMM and over 1.95v vcore at the same time.
Tested ever combination for hours and was starting to think it was my CPU till she ran that 2500Mhz.
That vcore fluxes sometime as high as .1 ! I had it at 1.9v and it droped at 1.82 then shot up to 1.98.. heheh crazy board.
Hopefully the one I get will be better....... Although I'm contemplating getting a NF7-S V2.
rofl.. your right there. his 12v line is at 10v lol... how do you test a high end board with a cpu taht wont go over 140fsb with a cpu temp of 60° and 10v line... wth?
ahhhhg nooo i dont want to hear about voltage flux on this board.. grr..
i figured it would have to haveit due to those TINY pathetic mosfets... *sigh*
how is your psu voltages doing with those crazy vcore fluctuations? are your psu voltages stable?
What on the P/S itself?
thats what i was trying to ask lol..
I wish i could check.. Damn DM only goes up to 2v for DCV :( Damn never noticed that before.
omg WEAK!
hop by radio shack, a DMM is like $6, good thing to have around.
heh i bought this one from radio shack about 6 months ago for 20.00 i think.. I didnt see anything for 6 bucks.
They had some nicer ones but where over 50 bucks.. I dont need it that much.
ok i lied thats teh solder iron thats like 6 bucks. the DMM is 20, lil yellow guy. i have that one works well enough.
Ok, I did reproduced the problem. My cpu is rock solid at 2500Mhz with 1.85v; I tried to prime at 2500 at different voltages and the results are:Quote:

1.85v = fine
1.90 = fine
1.95v = occasionally problems at sound and lan after a while
2v = same as 1.95v but prime fails after a while
The first two thing I will look at are mosfets and southbridge.
Must be the mosfets. I originally laped my SB since there HS wasnt makin good contact at all cause the chip was no where near flat.
Yes, but sound and lan problems seem a southbridge business... I didn't remove that crap of HS on it, should I? :D
eclypse, is it possible that you recieved a faulty mobo maybe?
you can always return it for the same mobo and see if the problems you had are still present
and I also might get this DFI Lanparty NF2 Ultra B mobo if I decide not to get a A64 for my new gaming rig (first build :) )
Right.... These VCore issues are definitely putting me off getting a DFI Infinity NFII.....
NF7-S V2 it is! hmm, or maybe another AN7? I think the AN7 I got is just faulty rather than a poor overclocker.... I mean, losing keyboard functionality is not good!
most AN7 are gettign 220fsb+ with no problems. yours is probly bad. if you RMA youll get a board from the new batch with no hand mods.
Iolao, Yeah theres just a Thermo pad on there now and it was only touching the outer edges.. Everyone knows how hot the SB gets.. I'm sure that HS with that pad aint doing squat but makin it worse.. i took mine off and lapped it so good that i just used regular white goop and it was suctioned to it..hehe.
Sickness.. yeah its possable but from what everyone was talking about at AMDMB.com it seems i'm not the only one with a voltage prob.
Besides i have a 144 1.8Ghz Opteron coming monday and i'm gona turn it into an FX chip by hopefully overclocking it to 2.2Ghz.. Should'nt have a prob though cause a buddy of mine named Mario over at www.overdrivepc.com says that its all he has been selling is the Opteron systems and FX system.. The opterons he's using are the 140 1.4Ghz model and he's getting 1.9+ Ghz with them easy he says with stock voltage. The FX chip he's saying around 2.4Ghz with air and 2.7Ghz with a promy. All using Corsair 2700 on the opterons and 3200 on the FX systems.
:D
So if all goes well i'll have another 2500+ Unlocked Barton to sell soon maybe if i dont keep it for a spare rig.. if i can buy another mb..
I'd go with the AN7 myself! Since i never got to test it fully before the 3rd dimm took a crap cause i connected that cut trace on the board hehe.
So any news on that stability probs above 1.9 core voltage?Did u try mosfets etc?
Mine's either rebooting under load or just does not boot into win... could be my f***ed up installation though :rolleyes:Quote:

At everything over 1,85VCore :(
P.S. If I had more Vdimm I could do a badass §DMark at 260dc fastest timings ;)
Already did one at 255x10 :) Around 22100...
But looping 3dmark at 252 is not stable over 30 to 60 minutes :(
I try solving the prob when I get home tomorrow.
YES, more vdimm!!!! I cant do anything but load windows over 250x10... could be the CPU's limit??
EDIT: No... not the CPU limit... I just remembered I tried to bench at 250+ with 9 multi.
Today I swapped that §§§§ty HS on the SB and replaced it with the northbridge's larger one. So far I'm trying again for 1.95v with rock stable settings to be sure and it has been priming for an hour up to now... we'll see.Quote:

Ok, now everything seems stable with 2v vcore. I have no longer loss of sound or net and it has been priming for an hour now at 233x11; I had also a little play with Need for Speed Underground and no problems.
EDIT: just had lost of sound, I'm gonna recheck at 1.95v tomorrow.
