I agree so far no descriptive info and allot of b*tching!
there was some people who posted temps of some mild overclocking of the q6600.
p.s. Brother_Esau make sure you read my pm
so far it seems that there's no concrete result of G0 will be O/C better than B3
After one night of Prime95 running my G0 Q6600, it's 100% stable at 3.4 GHz, 1.375v (I raised it a bit to be sure, might be able to run at lower voltage). Temp is 52C on the hottest core with a Thermalright SI-128 and Silverstone FM121 fan. Ambient is 30C (take this into consideration).
Cannot run higher due to my Bad Axe 2 limitation so I'm looking to get a P35 motherboard and push it higher. The temps is good, a bit colder than B3 reports.
ive got a B3 stepping and im running into a problem....
my cpu is now at 2.84Ghz - x9 multi - 316Mhz Bus -
when i try to raise the bus to 333 it wont post.. even if i raise my fsb voltage much higher (to 1.375 i think) and cpu votage to 1.4..
can you guys give me voltages which you use please! also, am i able to lower the multi?
I really want to jump on this CPU but I am not happy with the board selection out now. I really wish the new DFI P35-T2R was available so I could get everything at once. The fact that I can't get the IFX-14 in Canada yet either shoots all my cooling down too. I guess I will just have to wait despite the deal of these chips probably being over by then.
Man, I can get a Q6600 B3 for $295 CDN today! But I don't know if I should wait for the G0's instead. Is there that much difference??
I got a Swiftech setup so cooling doesn't worry me. I wanna know if an extra 200 MHz on an OC is worth waiting though.....????
Any thoughts?? Anyone got definitive results of B3 vs G0 ???
Mine just arrived from NCIX (Canada to El Paso on the Texas Mexico Border) in 17 hours.
g0 Stepping, I will post results later as I am getting right to testing.
I can't imagine someone who lives in Canada not going to NCIX or ordering from them when their cpu's are $298.99 CAD & G0's. They will run cooler regardless of overclock. My B3 overclocks pretty well and that was on air. I doubt the G0 will be worse, just not maybe 4 GHZ.
bit-tech take on refreshed chips, q6600 G0

Well, nothing I tried recently - I live here in the US since late 90s. :)
However here's the main price-checking site I know (think of pricewatch or pricegrabber), you can start your search here: http://www.depo.hu
Here's a direct link for CPus: http://www.depo.hu/index.php?pn=prod...d=&start=0&o=m
Best if you use the Product Search http://www.depo.hu/img/termekkereso.gif function: http://depo.hu/index.php?pn=search&h...hcat=0&x=0&y=0 - just click on the product and you'll get a list of (r)etailers with prices...
i think b3 will do the same as g0 and to prove it when i get my q6600 i will overclock the beast to its max and give you my temps for b3 and believe me i will show no mercy :-)
^^^ I like your syle ;)
Well, NCIX's sister site, Direct Canada, has the B3's for $295 and free shipping IIRC.
I've used both retailers and I could care less who I order from if the price is right. But I am just debating whether to hold out for G0 and it's worth the hype or if it's mostly hype and the B3's will do just fine.
I got my chip, installing windows on the testbed now.
Booted at stock volts, 3.1 ghz no problem, so I'm installing windows at that speed lol
I don't think many people will see the 4Ghz on air right now. This is reminiscent to last year when the core 2 duo ES were hitting 4 Ghz on air 1.6v or so and 3.6 Ghz 1.4v or so. Then upon release most struggled to get even the 3.6Ghz stable with 1.55v. I myself went through 3 chips until I found one that would. Later when "b"s came on to the seen, some would hit 4Ghz on air but the chips ran much hotter than the "a"s. I think most of us will get oc's similar to what the B3's and some will fair a bit better. To anyone looking to purchase a Quad now & don't have one, if you can get a G0 do so as they should at least run cooler than the B3 counterpart.
i dont think the g0 quad wil git 4ghz on air =/ highly unlikely.
i just got my b3 yesturday and i'm v.happy with it. it booted straight up @3.2 with 1.34 vcore. if you are having trouble clocking up your q6600 at that speed and your cpu temps are fine, try lowering your ram speed. i would expect your cpu to boot @2.8 with that vcore but if your ram or mch was having trouble you could expect it not to boot at all.
just keep on experimenting as i'm sure you could get more out of that chip. good luck.
