hmm, am i the only one that still thinks my sempy 2800 is fine, atleast until nehalem reaches the market. ( somewhere in 2008) And yes i play new games.
Is it just me or are there more people like that :P, seeing everyone upgrade as soon as something new hits the market. Getting eng. sample's form amd,ati,nv,intel. Every time I see that happen i'm thinking : how in the world do you raise the money for this ??
anyways the barcelona look's great on paper but i wonder how the real world preformance is like, that's the most important bit. After that i want tot see what intel is sending into the ring, the core architecture simply is incredible. It's realing going to be a all out battle.

Athlon 64 was in 2003. Now we are in 2007. Core's performance under Athlon 64 would be have been ridiculus. :woot:

Exactly, hence my quotes around Barcelona. Agena (quad-core desktop) and Budapest (quad-core opteron) are the AM2+ versions of Barcelona, and what we are actually waiting for... and Q3 is what AMD has been saying for them all along.

I've been so surprised when this thread begin with one sentence ...

But Amato & Phil give us some information about the K8L / K10 / Barcelona and either on the AMD position in face to overclocking and benchmarks :)

I've seen that the only thing that have been related is "the non-great understanding" of a non- K10 launch...

But this is speculation ;)

Waiting for O/C TV Episode 2 (lot of info inside) be ready probably in 1 or 2 days due to some of personal problems and exams (yep I'm a student :D)

umm incase you didn't already know but current K8 out performs Conroe in virtualization. which doesn't matter unless you work with alot of virtualization. (such as creating operating systems or testing software on different hardware)

well VMware ESX Server, provides a useful benchmark tool for virtualization. at stock speeds a 3800+x2 appears to perform about 5% better than a 6600. Which isn't huge but it is a more cost effective choice (until you take into effect overclocking)

my believe is that virtualization will saturate intel's fsb a lot faster.

and it also depends on the tasks that runs on the virtualized computers. floating point = amd, integer = intel.
