XSOS V3.0 Beta

it will play most games (working on the ALL part) and will work with a list of applications but I make no promises of 100% compatible with all applications.
Heck even Microsoft wouldn't even consider making such a statement of 100% compatibility

The only compatibility issues you're going to run into with XSOS is mainly just missing dll's and most of that is fixable. Beyond that if you use sites that require the IEcore be aware that the full core is not present so even the likes of the IETab extension for firefox will not be of any use.

nn_step if you succeed M$ will sue you for this, in past they didn't agree whit Lindows because it sounds to much like Windows and did the same, if XSOS V3.0 Beta turns up to be capable they'll kill it because they don't like competition - hope I'm wrong.

maybe they will give nn a few million to buy the rights....that is what they usually do to small upstart competition. and that cash could fund XSOS-4 the linux edition.lol or a completely open source version.

Actually I have already been working with the Microsoft lawyers, and I have their Blessing to continue my work as long as I follow the guidelines that they have granted me.

Ironically, this work is probably the type of thing that Microsoft needs for a future OS. If they can use the work done via opensource software to create a more stable core and still maintain a windows functionality, it's a win-win situation for them. It would be OS X meets Vista, from a certain point of view (OS X being built off of darwin). Vista will be the last behemoth to survive off of old code; MS knows they can't afford a repeat of the last 5 years. On the other hand, they can't afford to recode from scratch either. By using open source linux or unix as the kernel, they can then add their API's into the mix and get the best of both worlds, at least theoretically...

nn I´ve read the whole thread but can´t find if XSOS is 32bit or 64bit based (although you said you used a unix based kernel so chances are it´s 64bit) can you confirm?.

Hmm, do you trust lawyers? - especially M$, which are the next thing to Devil itself, so sneaky yet they use kind words, speak whit other lawyers (friends or family) or this guys might ruin your life, or ho knows - I say this by experience. :nono:

their lawyers aren't exactly the brightest people on Earth. Besides if they go after me, the most they can charge me with is using a FREE Standard in my Operating system, They would have to go after Wine first

True but Wine wasn't very successfully, they accomplished very little in DX, so that didn't bother M$ - gaming related, but from your specifications yours does much more :).

nn_step, I see you mentioned Wine.
Is XSOS just Wine prepacked into a Unix distro, or a seperate product with Wine elements?

I'm interested in testing XSOS 3.0 beta too.

I'll definately beta test this, I've got a few pretty demanding games I could give a try.
