2.08V and only 740MHz ?
Damn.....quite low. Are you sure you have BJ11 chips on your board ?
Yup.. Took the cooler off, it's BJ11.
Nothing I can do about I'm afraid.. Wasting time going to the store and back multiple times.. Just to get a card that has lower overclocks and the same flickering.
Hmmz.. Don't know what to say.. Was playing the NFS Carbon demo, and suddenly, the screen artifacts and is stuck. Reboot, nothing. Having it exchanged again. :/ I hope they still have my old GTO.. It did 830MHz on standard voltage, and the flicker problem seems to be well known on the 7900 series.
which is better 7900GTO or ASUS EN7950GT
If you would read this topic you would know.
The GTO is in fact a GTX with lower voltage to the memory and lower memory clocks. 7950GT is a different thing. The GTO is faster and cheaper, and if you can mod it to give ~1.95V to memory you're going to have a full GTX for ~half the price. Not to mention the cooling, which is way better and quieter on the GTO.
thx for your reply k i will get the GTO but the bad thing is it does not have High-Definition

I think if you want and can pick this card, don't wait any second. That's great.

I have 7900GTO Sancti model: 650/800 i wont overclock before i buy new motherboard and DDRII memories. Now i have AsRock DUAL 775 VSTA and E6300 and 1GB DDR400 mem.
Asrock goesnt even 300 :) and 3Dmark05 is littlebyte over 9000 with clean windows :D
I heard that 775 VSTA has very slow PCI-E and i think so to.
Best drivers for 7900GTO ?
I have a 7900GTO from MSI.
Did the mods - goes 748/895 on stock heatpipe cooling easy, but has a coldbug @ ~0C :(
Anyone managed to install Forceware 79.02 drivers with 7900GTO?
Hi guy, I'm finally able to test my 7900GTO and...OMG it doesn't move from stock speeds! I'm overclocking from coolbits and it doesn't even reach 665/1380, it says they aren't stable frequencies...With rivatuner can oc to 695 /690 but more than that it gives me error. It is odd, it makes me thing of some driver's problem...I read of a voolbits issue. I'm on Forceware 93.71, could there be some problems with it, too? It is possible I got a card THIS unlucky?Should I use rivatuner or what is better?
Dude your just unlucky, im not getting even 665 core / 800 (1600) mem... im stuck at 660 / 1500 mem, everything above is cousing artifacts!Quote:

Try other drivers, Coolbits and 93.71 is no good.
And by the way, sesion, 700MHz is not 1600MHz DDR, it's 1400MHz DDR ;)
Can some1 do a quick favor, try launch FEAR or Oblivion with vsync disabled (meaning disabled from nvidia control panel too) so when you are in the menu for FEAR or Oblivion with a very high fps rate, if this is normal to all nvidia cards, you should have a high pitched electrical noise. Can you check that for me tho as that's what I've discovered with mine as it only appears when vsync is turned off and fps is like 1000+ fps (dunno exactly how high, might even be 2000+ :P) during menu in these games for example. Turning on vsync which limits the FPS rate in my case to 100 in the menus the noise is totally gone though.
RMA'd my first 7900GTO cuz of this even because I thought it was a faulty card with a bad capasistor somewhere but the 2nd card also had same problem so it seems like the high fps rate is the cause of it and I'd like to know if that's normal. But hey my 2nd card overclocks ~20MHz better on core and dunno about mem clock as I settled at 825MHz as I'm happy with it but Rivatuner's internal test still passed at 850MHz while with the old card it "only" passed up to 825. :)
BTW, XTreme-G 93.71 drivers are really nice but even the official Nvidia 93.71 drivers are really great too, highly recommended. Best drivers so far I've tested both IQ and performance wise (best IQ but on par performance with some other drivers which has much worse IQ).
EDIT: setting prerender limit to 0 also seems to completely remove the noise as it slowed down the 2D performance and video clips rendering rate which was rendered at like 1000+ fps (which prolly is far from true but I'm just pointing to the rate FRAPS is showing) with the value set at "3" in Serious Sam 2 with vsync off and went to ~130 fps now with prerender limit set to "0". But 3D/ingame performance remains the same so that's good. Cards are getting too fast for some less demanding tasks these days, my previous 6800GT obviously was yet too slow but 7900GTO becoming too fast and putting some kind of physical limit on the card as far as how many frames it can render per sec without causing the card to whine. :p:
I tried those XTreme-G drivers and my screen went black after the install. Thankfully, though, I rebooted and got into Windows to uninstall and reinstall the 91.47s. With the XTreme-Gs, my screen color was all screwed over (like 8-bit or something) and the resolution was like 640x480.
My 7900GTO clocked much better w/RT and switching from 8x.xx drivers to 91.47 also helped.Quote:

Installing new drivers should always be done by using driver cleaner and first uninstall from add/remove and then go to safe mode and run driver cleaner and remove "Nvidia" drivers and then restart and install the new driver set. Otherwise some old settings from older drivers or when get mixed up with newer ones might interfere. That's my best guess what happened in your case.Quote:

3)can you provide a bios that has convenient timings but don't change name to GTX? Would that be useful for warranty issues?
4)I've read some topics about pencil mod...how can I measure resistance? The result of simply measuring the resistor shouldn't be correct, because I would have to care about equivalence of the whole circuit, or am I wrong?
Thank you!
when one removes the cooler (and thereby destroys the ram-thermal pads...what should one use to replace them?
(the cooler does not make contact with the ICs...)
please help me guys.
I used the same pads, I just had to remodel them to fit, and apparently it helped because my RAM can work at 800MHz w/o any extra voltage now :)
PS. Did anyone manage to make the card show up as GTX in Windows after modifying the original BIOS with the card ID as 7900GTX ? Because I did and even though the BIOS says GTX, the drivers still see it as GT/GTO.
these cards cost the same as normal GTX in australia....might as well call it GTX LOL!
What's the best MSI GTO original BIOS version ? And where to get it ?
Did anyone flashed a GTX bios ?
Best BIOS for me by far is the original one, .39.09, modified with GTX clocks.
Were can I get it ? ;)
And what did you noticied vs the original GTO .39.09 BIOS ?
