Thanx for the overview, Coolaler.

This board is remniscent of my old Abit IC7-Max 3, which was a monster clocker - after VTT fix of course.

Certainly interested in getting my hands on this, and see how wll it will clock -personally appreciate a decent layout, and not minding the lack of pci slots. To me having 2x 7950GX2's onboard certainly has more worth than pci soundcard.

Let's hope abit can provide 1333 strap in release bios, this is going to be a killer of a board.

Coolaler can you get your hands on a regular AW9D? For some, this board might still be a temporary because of its layout issues... if the non-MAX version ends up being like a $150-180 board (if the MAX is 230) then I could completely see the non-max version being the one everyone chooses.

Well if you can't stick twice some fast video card and a Creative X-Fi, it is not exactly a gamer board, right?

Perhaps I misunderstood their "concept", if it is just meant for overclocking then they should have just removed everything which won't get used anyway.

Even bad axe has 5-phase power.

As for the layout it is so lame that I can bet that their engineers were trying to stick cubes into the round holes when they were little kids.

Who cares if it's only 5-phase. What advantage do you really see in this? If the board is already capable of doing so much what makes you think that anything greater then 5-phase is going to change that. Or are you just caught up in the spec. numbers hype.

And as far as the damn X-fi goes...get over it! I said it once and I'll say it again, there are far better more audiophile solutions to audio then some stupid creative sound card that honestly doesn't sound that great anyway. Judging by your name, audiofreak, I think you should know this. Or maybe you just think your an audio freak. Either way stop crying over it, no one wants to hear you bad mouth the entire board because a slot for your soundcard isn't where you would like it. Cry me a river.

well if more people buy it and can confirm its oc abilities at 9x multi i'd be all over it.
im tired, kinda of my ds3 and the 412mhz limit at 9x and the fact that D9 micron ram wont run over 950-ish mhz.

i need something to really let lose on the overclocking.

So, bottom line, does it beat a p5b bios 0507 (unlocker/overclocker bios) which can do a bus of 524 on an e6300 or not?

Coolaler has a pre-release sample Board with a beta-BIOS ... to answear your question you just have to find a time-travel-mashine to skip the next 3-5 weeks ;)

First, I am perfectly well aware that there are better audiophile cards but they are also PCI and the only one PCI slot is blocked if you use second video card. That is why I said that if the board is meant for gamers then it has missed the boat.

I wasn't criticizing just PCI slot position -- you singled that one out.

Don't get me wrong, I don't doubt that the board works fine or even great, it just pisses me off that it has so many layout shortcomings with a hefty price tag.

I guess you just can't have everything right the first time but this is more like 10,000 time that we see such stupid layout errors.

Good luck EVER finding a board that is best in every regards because I really don't think that has or ever will happen.

And as far as getting a better soultion for your audio needs....there are better ones that AREN'T PCI based. Pricey though I'm sure but if your serious about audio and it means that much to you....

I love when people say "Oooh that layout sucks, wth were they thinking?" when they have no clue about the processes taken to map out components and traces. I don't fully know either as I have never made a larger PCB design before. I do understand that the programs that auto draw the layouts use some pretty complicated algorithms to minimize layer requirements and keep trace lengths within given tolerances. I'm guessing there aren't many options in terms of layout once you introduce that many components. Sure if they doubled the PCB layers we could probably have any layout we want. But then the kiddies would complain about prices :rolleyes:

And in terms of more phases = better regulation, component quality plays a big role too.

god "how many phases" is so annoying ever since it became popular few years ago, all of the suden all review sites were counting mosfets. the quality of the parts and the quality of "worksmanship" are way more important did u already forget dfi ultra-d that has 4 phase "only" but bloody 110% solid no drops and fluctuation wich not many other boards could do even with their "100 phase power regs". haha its getting so out of porpotion that everyone that knows how to install a optical drive is now concerned about phases

edit: this is getting lame, mods should delete all posts except for Coolaler's, the man is showing us one of the most enticipated mobos and we are just filling up the thread with s...., mabey all layout/1 pci/ phase should be kept in the other thread about the mobo....

That's no excuse ... Asus managed to get so much more components (2 PCI-X slots and the PCIe to PCI-X Bridge) on the Workstation 975X than Abit and it still has a better layout !

Two completely different boards buddy. Your comparing apples to oranges. Just because its a 975 motherboard doesn't mean it is comparable. You people really need to go take some classes in CE and then come back and see if you want to critisize.
