Well, 1.15 is not default VCore for Conroe. More like 1.3v. And again, the board overvolts by about 0.05v, so you have to take that into account. Monitoring programs read temps off the same sensor chip. If that chip is not accurate, then all the readings you get will be inaccurate.Quote:

Ive just flashed to bios 0215 and cleared cmos, and is the same as it was before.

Try raising VCore to 1.4 or 1.5 and see what happens. The bios has some sort of bug. Some of the VCore settings are not accurate. For example, if you set 1.615v in the bios, the VCore reading in Windows is actually lower than if you had used 1.6v.

That's very strange. Even with a HSF and VCore at 1.6, my idle temps don't get that high. Maybe try flashing to a different bios. See if that helps.

When you boot into Windows, what is the CPU utilization like in the Task Manager? Is it low, or are you getting 50% or higher at idle? If utilization is high at idle, your temps are probably going to be high too. Maybe try a fresh install.

This person has got it right..
My CPU read about 10 degrees lower on the P5W-DH than on my P5W64 with the same (default) settings. Core Temp on P5W-DH was a good 10 degrees higher though, whereas on the P5W64 its actually sometimes lower than PC Probe reports.Quote:

The only problem with ignoring high temperature readings is the board will shut down if it thinks the temps are beyond the critical point. 54C at idle with 1.45v is not normal. Under full load, the temp would probably go above 70C. And you can forget running dual-Prime.

Just got mine up and running w/ E6600.
Running Orthos now w/ stock voltage and 320x9.
AiBooster, AI Probe, Core Temp all show 51C under load +/- 1C between them.
This is with watercooling that still has tons of air bubbles in it LOL.
Mine won't do 470FSB reliably.:) But I don't really need it to. I ran 32M at 456X9 (4104MHz) last night with no problems. With higher multipliers I need even less FSB. If you want 500+ FSB, the P5B Dlx would be a better choice.Quote:

I'm having some problems myself. I updated bios to 0022, still cannot adjust ram timings manualy, tried 2 sets of ram, only boots @ auto timings.
Futhermore, i get BSODs at 3.8+ Ghz when priming. 3.9 Ghz will BSOD right after starting prime. Over 4 Ghz a 1M causes it to BSOD. This is a good CPU with plenty of volts and Vmch @ 1.8!
I'm getting the symptoms of FSB giving out as low as 422.. ><
this board can go highest for me about 440+ fsb..i need to vmod the vmch to get it higher

Obviously we all have different stability requirements, so remain open minded.
I run 24/7 with 1.47vcore (bios) (using watercooling) @3.78.
Obviously a e6700 may exceed this, but this gives you a general idea, of how the system can be tuned for a 24/7 point which has reasonable temps and reasonable stability too..

Im going to take this back tommorrow, surely this must be classed as a faulty board? Temps are hitting 80's playing oblivion though my water block is cold to touch.
just for curiosity i ran duel prime at 1.45v and it hit the 90's in around 5 sconds and the alarm on asus probe went off.
This is hardware monitor in bios, stock everything. :(

try using coretemp, the Asus Pro boards do misreport voltage, though yours does seem excessive.
Are you sure that the contact between the ihs and block is good? I have had this problem once, applying a small blob of TIM just in the centre of the ihs and ensuring a good contact fixed it...

Your temps are way too high and consistent with bad contact. Since the same chip was cooler before and you said you have already reseated numerous times, I would try another board.
Ive reseated a few times, its always the same. Ive put my Asus P5WDH back in and temps are back to normal.
I dont think there is anything else i can do except hope for a replacement.
what does core temp show? As that's more akin to the real voltage, my board shows 10 degrees higher than core temp.
