Hey you guys.
I just came across (3) Kentsfield processors. question, is there any board that can take (2) cpu's? or are the Kentsfield a single use chip?
Looking forward to hearing your comments.
Also, if anyone is interested I will be unloading 1 or 2 of the Kentsfield if the only are ran as a single use chip.
Thanks

Any word on new BIOS?
Good, bad...indifferent?
Thx to `Lotzi for the newer version of bios than the official website!
Gotta test it out to see how it goes, finally i can unlock the god darn multipliers for my X6800...lol
Well, I just tested the newest beta bios 0502 and it comes with the infamous V-drop.
The motherboard now undervolts with the new bios and it is not fun:mad:
PS: And I used to complain about the overvolting:slapass:
not a big fan of it either, went back to 0005
dunno, asus and bios's seem to be crappy for this board
I found no difference in oc'ing on my rig between the bios's yet. So I use 0408, I guess overvolt and undervolt will always exist on asus boards, just actual steady volts would be nice for a change, though I oftem make allowances wither way via my settings.
regards
Raja
0502 literally almost killed my board. almost couldn't flash back. finally back to 408 and all is well.
Kentsfield is a one cpu per motherboard only as It's an LGA775 chip.Quote:

Luckily this WDG2 isn't my main rig so I just renamed the 0408 bios to the name previously mentioned on another PC, put it on a USB memory stick and then plugged the stick into the Asus rig. I started it up, it goes back to the black screen and then finds the BIOS file it's looking for and flashes to it. There were no onscreen updates while this was happening so I just had to sit tight for about a minute. When it was done it prompts me to turn off completely and then back on. I do so and everything is back to normal with 0408.
So if anyone ever finds themselves in the same position, black screen with bios checksum error, just get the previous BIOS you had, rename it to WDG2WSP.ROM and put it on the root of a CD/Floppy/USB memory and boot with it and follow on screen prompts :)
good info...i dont think i will be trying the 0502 bios, gonna leave well enough alone, 0408 seems pretty good to me so far.

The bad checksum message, for me at least, only appeared with the bad flash :)
I get that message too from time to time, but that's even when the overclock is Orthos stable so I don't know why it happens.:stick:Quote:
