I just read this article in The Inquirer:
http://www.theinquirer.net/?article=24160
"One improvement that was expected was a boost in the memory controller speed to 533MHz up from 400MHz. Now that opens the door to a certainty. AMD has confirmed that FX will move to DDR2 memory in the "future". When asked, whether it was a near future or a distant one, the representative, Teresa, said probably next year."
Can anybody confirm the 533 Mhz controller?? That would be very interesting indeed.
Wow, one of the first Inquirer articles that I've ever read that contains facts which are true  ;)Quote:

It must be DDR-1, as the pinout and socket need to change for DDR2.Quote:

So, does the FX-57 have a 533MHz memory controller, or not?
If it's NDA, do you really think you'd get an answer here? ;)
I just saw the FX57 listed under my distributor. Looks like its going to cost 1050 dollars

Do you think they'll also enable that for E6 Venice and San Diego, coming in July?
The main thing we need to learn about FX-57 over FX-55 is
a) does it overclock better ?
b) does it do more IPC ?
c) for people using xtreme cooling does it have a cold bug ?
All of which this thread, after ( how many pages ? ) has failed to do.
I do not know whether Windwithme or OPB is right but what I do know is this thread has shown nothing whatsoever of interest !
Compare this to the 3dmark team forum where Oppainter and Sampsa in two threads both blew records away and posted cold bug issues on nvidia 7800 within 2 days and less combined pages of dross than this thread. this thread started off nowhere and after going around a roundabout 5 times is still going nowhere.
You can do the talk or you can do the walk.
Regards
Andy

1. yes offcourse, every better rated chip OC better, see the FX55 BN. The FX57 is the better FX55 BN.
2. No not more then the FX-55BN or 3700/4000/4200+ diego. They are the same. E4 and B3.
3. some have some not. hope the FX57 have no more cold bug (~-40C coretemp)
windwithme some news ???
i m just wondering , why they dont just mount a vapols - machgt on fx57 to see some real power :slapass: or no ., benching on air or water , or just 200mhz overclock [3ghz] is just like someone buy a lamborgini murcielago and not pass 200km / hour . :( .
come on guys speed is sweet
:D Yep - just find me someone who will send me one so I will test it immedeately on my MACH II GT.......... :p:Quote:
