Not a single white dash.Quote:

Room temp is around 21-23C normally for me, at least I try to keep it around that temp during the winter. During the summer it can get up to 25-30C easily, but by that time I usually have the A/C on so I don't have to worry about that.Quote:

Use ATITool to overclock it. Just be warned your memory will not get as high as it is now, but it will be faster overall since ATITool doesn't loosen the memory timings.Quote:

Hmmm bad slot on the mobo? Or some bad power is causing the issues. Let alone from a reinstall, or driver issues but think you guys have covered that already making sure your on the latest drivers and such.Quote:

Sounds EXACTLY like my XL. Very strange, but some things were mint others were not. All 3Dmark and aquamark as well as quake 4 played without a problem or artifact however FEAR had little black squares on the screen. I could not figure out why some things would work and others not. I have already sold my card and the buyer told me thanks! The card works great? No clue what to make of it but something is up with some of these XL cores for sure.Quote:

I played an hour with NFS: Most Wanted to test my new cooler.
GPU: 600 MHz (1.2V)
RAM: 1200 MHz (1.95V in ATiTool and 1.8V in the overclocker prog.:S Why?)
I/O: default voltage (1.9V)
SF-V7: 5V (2000 rpm)
System Cooler: near the VGA@1200 rpm
idle: 58 C
full: 81 C
It's too much, isn't it?:S

Well so far its worth it to get the new 5.12's
Right now it seems I can OC my card with higher voltages and well its still running.
Previous score 9338
Run 1) 9438
Run 2) 9463
Third run increase GPU voltage to 1.25V 639.9/729. I could maybe get 1 run with a cold boot before it crashed in benches i ran the first 2 then pumped up the voltage directly after the test and bumped the clock fired it up. I'm still in amazement.
Run 1) 9702
Run 2 with 3 run pass) 9706 :) WOOT
52C PWM 58C GPU
03 Runs with the 639.9/729 clocks 1.25/2.203/2.004V
Run 1) 17957
Run 2 with 3 passes) 18034
And the dreaded 01 still fails like the POS it is same damn test too.
But of course there not stable they give out after a bit in games and such causing artifacts... Takes longer though, hmmmmm. Wierd
So the 5.12's OC better?Quote:

Well actually so far yes stable. I gave rithdribl a run over night and that usually shows erros over time. STABLE!!
1.225/2.151/2.004 @ 630/711
Supprisingly I've never been stable at this voltage with this clock. An extra 8 on the memory and well just the core being stable with this voltage and not showing glitches. So I'd say ya these drivers help with stability. I know I can't use 1.275 otherwise it will artifact right away, but yet I can usually pass a few tests @ 1.25V before it starts erroring out. Wierd.
Well at this speed 9554 in 05 is what I got when I did a single run last night.
But overall weather its game stable, I'll have to find out more later on that one.
I heard about this..very exciting. Its just pisses me off how they bring out so many new models. If i was u i'll wait for the R600 which will have DX10 support.Quote:

Got my FS-V7 last night as well as my Zalman 9500. It was easier to install these then I thought it would be for my first time doing it. I am not sure about the results yet.
On the X1800XL I only get about a 6c change. It idles in the 40's. During 3DM05 it gets into the low 70's. Before it would peak in the high 70's. This is basically running it at 1.2/1.9/1.9 625/650. I have tried plugging the fan into both the white and black plugs (assummed the black was 12v). Either one I can't hear it - although I feel the air.
The 9500 is nice. My CPU runs in the upper 30's now idle. I don't like the fan spin up on boot - kind of clicks. But after the boot surge it acts normal. I really can't feel air flow through this thing.
From an overclocking standpoint, initial tests don't really show any ability to do anything else. Guess getting these new heatsinks is more for temperature insurance. :(
I get 58c stressed @ stock voltage 560 mhz core with my Zalman VF700-CU. And my 9500 is great. My cpu is like 44c stressed ( 2800 MHZ 1.6v ) It realy kicked the stock cooler with 30c stressed and improved my oc with 100 MHz.Quote:

Quigs: Seeing your temps, etiher you have poor case airflow or something but your temps do seem high. I hit 48C stock volts and a slight OC on the core/mem, then again even at stock the temps didn't change at all. You might want to reconsider resetting the heatsink on the GPU and seeing if you used to little or to much paste. What paste are you using?
Astennu: So when you going to try the 5.12's :) I'm guesssing you won't see much if any score increase but hopfully a better OC will come from it, since this release is more for us DC people.
Oh ya I can't hear my fan @ max volts. Then again I do have a 120mm covering that area blowing air tward the card so that might help dampen the sound.
I have had a DC but id only did 2.6 ghz. So i need a ADV stepping 4400+ those can hit 3.0.Quote:

I realy hear my fan. I even lowered it with a zalman regulator. But then again i got 80mm silent fans running @ 5v so like 1000 RPM ( @ 12v 1800 ) and my cpu fan douse not spin if cpu is under 40c. And its 35c idle ( passive ). So the zalman cooler was making the most noice in my pc. so its on 7v now.
But i will keep u posted on the 5.12's.
Cool, well my DC just was able to hit 2.65Ghz after I unplugged my floppy and molex connector from the mobo. Otherwise it was 2.6Ghz for me also.Quote:

Try it again, took me 2 times to get it right. Eventually it dropped 5C total with the good apply over my first go at it. Oh ya and vodka is great for cleaning the GPU/Heatsink, besides its good to drink it cleans very well hehe.Quote:

As for cooling ya that 80mm fan is hurting ya. Is there any spots on the back to put another fan to suck air out? Or more in the front to suck into the case too? There has to be a way to suck air out of that case, besides going through the PSU. If you want to get creative you could start modifitying the case to accept 120mm fans and such if its possible. Running with the side of teh case off might actually be benificial to you. But if theres enough cooling, running with the case side on you'll see a temp decease, thats when you know you got some nice cooling.
Even if i got lower temp .. i end at 710Mhz .. no matter what voltage i set :-)
Core or Mem? HeheQuote:

deathman20 - took your suggestion and redid the fan setup. Seemed to help a little. Using your settings (615/730 1.2/2.2/2.0) temps ranged from 42 - 61 with environment 31-40 (case door open). System seems to idle around 41. Loads get to upper 50's maybe low 60's so far. With your setting and the new 5.12's I scored 9379 in 3D05. I will give the arctic ceramique some time to settle in.
On the other hand the 9500 on the CPU is amazing. My idle temp is 30 and load never breaks 40.
Excellent glad to hear :) Ya gotta try for my upping my ram more since I seem to get 630 with 1.225V right now on the core. I want my 9.6k now hehe.Quote:

Are you using ATI tool at all? Or just OC... because even though OC overclocks the ram, its slows it down much more then it actually is at stock, loosing up timings and such.Quote:

There are 2 logs of low 60's (within the same minute). Other than that things look good. Running at these speeds is stable in 3d05 - ran the tests a couple of times.Quote:

For sure, it doesnt matter if i got 80C with zalman under load or 50C with watercooling (700Mhz) i didnt get better results, just better temperature and silence.
Yo, my results in overclocking X1800XL from sapphire is
670 for Core - 1.320v
730 for Mem - 2.1v
end the results in 3DMark 2005 is 9877pts

here it is :

card was running on 670 core 770 mem (Sapphire X1800XL )
1.350v for core 2.3 mem VDD 2.0v VDDQ
so now I have the highest score ???
I think I deserve
Grats on the 10K. Im a jordan fan as well.
I pushed the 1.4ns stuff to 1900Mhz and I know 1800Mhz is benchable with cooling.
Wow nice one jordi, on a 3000 no less :)
Big time memory clocks via ATI Tool. I could run mine past 900Mhz with overclocker but the best it would do with ATI Tool was 715. You still need a couple hundred points to reach the top ;)
thx for grats,
hey do you now how to change cooling to make it more effective.
I did my 10K score on stock fan, but I put my case to the opened window
and opened one side as well. As you imagine this is not comfortable.
I wait for arctic cooling silencer for X1800 series but market time possibly December..
I have a zalman 700cu on mine.
Its not cold yet here in Las Vegas, I think its in the lower 60F's here
I'm from Poland, and we have winter in here ;)
Fugger... Did you have any issues with your core on the XL taking higher voltage? Did you happen to mod it in any way besides giving it a new cooler?
I'd love to take my core higher but for some reason I hit a voltage wall, at least I thought I did. We had the same core numbers at least but I know OC is all up in the air but I'd think at least the voltage it would take should be the same.
Loads temps is not an issue since its in the mid 50's.
Congrats :toast:Quote:

I can get it to boot at 2800 easily, but the bench fails during the CPU tests. Not a heat problem - just a divide by zero problem. I am weary of applying more volts.
If I had a little more overclocking skill and knowledge I am sure I could do better. Even on air.
Jordi23: Nice stable clock. Guess your memory starts artifacting more and more over time with higher temps? I know mine started doing that after periods of time.
Only 10088 score I see showing all drivers and that for the X1800's was a ThickBrit and that was an XT pulling 722/810. I think Futuremark has some screwed up results because im seeing more and more results now above my score that where posted earlier then mine.Quote:

XL can't work with XT bios (625mhz/750mhz), because memory of XL often doen't arrive at 700mhz, true?
so it need a XT bios modded (625mhz for the core and 600-650mhz for the memory) to flash XL card..
It can arrive at the 700Mhz just need more volts 2.150V seems to be a spot where most are able to hit the 700Mhz barrier.Quote:

Since everyone seems to take different voltage for similar clocks I'd like it that way more then anything.
but XL at 750mhz of memory very often doen't arrive, so flash XL with XT bios isn't possible..Quote:

I would like to set frequency in bios, or flash XL bios with another with frequency more high
there is 2 possibility:
1-someone create a XL bios modded with frequency more high (for example 625 mhz for the core and 600-650mhz for the ram)
2-someone create a editor to make our own bios
