Those are some sick times NewBeatle:toast:
Wow I need to start benching this and learn, I hope you guys know my last post was a joke, I was just amaze at how far my time is compared to you guys....... How different is 32m vs 1m tweak wise?
very nice to have you in this thread NewBeetle .
(by the way, the last couple of weeks im driving a new beetle :D )
id be glad to compete with you in the 13.xx category! ;)
Thank you for your toast. luihed-san. ;)
The difference of tweaking between 1M and 32M is as follows.
1M 32M
MAXMEM 256MB 512MB
pagefile size 64-128MB 256-512MB
modPI's directory at boot drive at RAM-Disk
Special Methods none Copy-Waza & physical memory adjustment
Without these tweaking and methods, the score is about 20% slower.
Look this result with default setting (=without these tweaking and methods).

Hello, esdee-san.
You are a New Beetle driver like me!? :D
Your PI is very fast and id be also glad to compete with you in 32m Low Clock Challenge! ;)
DEWA DEWA ~ (it means "best regards" in Japan)
wow newbeetle thanks for the tips :D
10x for posting some of your tweaks, I'm very interested in ram disk tweaking, by your opinion how much seconds is gain on 3600mhz (your excellent result) if spi directory is on ram disk or on hdd? I suppose you are using eram?
sve najbolje (it means dewa dewa in Serbia ;) :toast: )
Thanks so much for tips Newbeetle-san. :toast:
I'm curious about what you mean by "physical memory adjustment." ?
Do you have a link to download Autogear by any chance, and how do you use it? How large is your copy-waza size?
Thanks very much again!
Khun Newbeetle-san khaawp khoon maak khrap
(Thank you very much) :)
Thanks NewBeetle. I think alot of people are running 32m's now.
Do we need /want a section for fastest (closest to 12.xx) time @ 3600 or below?
Considering the amount of times we got at 3.6GHz, I'd say yes. :p:
Maybe even enough to start a sub 3600MHz 32M thread.
yeah sub 3600mhz 32M is popular competition http://i4memory.com/showthread.php?p=64298#post64298
http://img223.imageshack.us/img223/3...07tablegf9.png
and http://www.thelab.gr/showthread.php?s=&threadid=32303
.
Shouldn't "sub 3600MHz" mean sub 3600MHz? :p:
we're pretty flexible on that definition LOL
anyway table i have is for another thread i'm starting soon hehe
First, Only I was 2 days offline, and I see lot of new post:toast:
Hello, NewBeetle-san!:)
This tweaks works well under win xp or win 2003?
Because I get faster spi if I used ramdisk for Spi 1M under win 2003.
Misko: I use too quad-gt, so we can resemble together results.:)
Konnichiwa NewBeetle-san, your times are amazing :toast:
I also wonder what physical memory adjustment mean
one more advantage for me of using Abit is that when go sub zero perf number will not go down like on other boards, little explanation:
when using dlx on 3600 category competition, u are using 2:3 divider fsb is 400, and ram is 600, when u go sub zero it would be pretty much the same thing, maybe u will move few mhz but.... when using abit, on air it is 514 for both RAM and FSB, and when u go sub zero it would be 540+:
http://img295.imageshack.us/img295/5...shot028tl2.png
Do not watch result it is not good (it is 3rd in the world, but win wasn't so good) so my Team will heave boost in fsb and memory (that dlx users do not have) :toast:
that's a killer CPU
what were your tube temps and core temps again and how close were you managing to keep the temps to
also what does that CPU do on dice
Hi NewBeetle impressive runs you have put in, I'm intrigued that your listed tweaks has included MAXMEM for the 32M runs. I have been doing some extensive testing of 32M runs (which can be found here) and have found adjusting MAXMEM to 400, 500 and 600 did not gain me anything in my runs. I wonder is there anything different in the way you are implementing this tweak? My method is as follows
is this the same as your method? One last thing, under "special methods" you list "physical memory adjustment" seeing how your already using MAXMEM to limit the size of the memory seen by windows what is this tweak doing?Quote:
Start -> run... "msconfig" The System Configuration Utility box will open up and you need to go to the "boot.ini" tab. Click "advanced options..." to bring up another box notice /MAXMEM is at the top with a number input beside it. Now here is where it gets vague. The majority say that for 32M calculations setting /MAXMEM to 600 works best, and for 1M calculations a values of 104. A bit of playing around with this value will be required but don't go crazy low or high as you may well bork your OS install.

Ramdisk version: http://www.ramdisk.tk/
why xp give better clock? I read already somewhere, but I don't understand..
I will try sub 10s 9*570-580fsb, if mobo can..we beated 572FSB yet..
Thank you for a lot of questions.
I'll answer the questions as much as possible.
Hello, Misko-san.
I tested it.
It increases for about five seconds on hdd.
And i am using "ERAM for Windows Ver 2.11".
Hello, Gautam-san,
When i adjust physical memory more under Windows, I use "MemEat" that reduces physical memory.
However, the effect is a little (about 0.5-1.0 second).
Look at this picture. if you are interested in it (Sorry in Japanese).
http://homepage2.nifty.com/NewBeetle/Mem Adjustment.png
And a link to download Autogear is here.
http://www.vector.co.jp/soft/dl/win9.../se293319.html
But i don't explain it well, please see the image and understand what kind of software it is.
http://homepage2.nifty.com/NewBeetle/Autogear.png
My Copy-Waza size is "MAXMEM size + 100-200MB".
But, this size is not the best, and try variously, please.
Hello, over@locker886-san.
I run SPI only under win 2003.
Sorry I can't answer your question.
Hello, kiwi-san.
When i adjust physical memory more under Windows, I use "MemEat" that reduces physical memory.
However, the effect is a little (about 0.5-1.0 second).
Hello, Johnny Bravo-san.
I understand what you say and your question is very reasonable.
First question,
I think MAXMEM shows the effect by combining with COPY-WAZA.
My Copy-Waza size is "MAXMEM size + 100-200MB".
Without MAXMEM, Copy-Waza size will be very large.
And there is no difference in MAXMEM tweaking itself.
Second question,
I use the tool named "MEMEAT" to adjust the physical memory more in detail after physical memory is roughly adjusted with MAXMEM.
However, the effect is a little (about 0.5-1.0 second).
I'm sorry I can't explain well any more.
DEWA DEWA ~

Wow... thanks for all the tips NewBeatle.... You are very generous with regards to sharing your knowledge...... May the overclocking gods reward you with a very fast cpu.......
thanks Newbeetle i dropped ~4 seconds off my best 400FSB 4:5 500mhz memory 32M time with maxmem 512MB :)
http://fileshosts.com/intel/Asus/P5B...3m19s266ms.png
eva are you running RAS TO CAS WRITE DELAY = 2 or is that a glitch
try 600MHz maxmem too....i had slightly better times with that over lower values
lower values was better for shorter runs for me
maxmem = 600MB = 13min 23s which is ~4 seconds slower heh
yes RAS TO CAS Write delay = 2 memset tweaked no glitch it isn't RAS TO CAS Read delay (tRCD) :)
interesting
i have to try two timings changes with my sticks and maxmem 500......that should get me to NewBeetle/KP times if my system behaves the same as yours george
NewBeetle (or anyone else for that matter) can you explain what autogear does that simply assigning cpu priority using task manager doesn't? It seems that the program assigns priority to running threads - though the application is in Japanese so I don't exactly know what I'm doing with it :)
just want to thank you guys for this thread. it has helped me find tweaks for getting the best possible pi time and also for setting goals to achieve at clockspeeds. i'm trying to see if i can break the 13minute barrier with 3.65 or less ghz on my 6600. so far i've been able to tweak down from 14m10s to 13m25s at 3.6. only 25 more seconds! lol.
@Johnny - thanks for this analysis you did.
http://www.ocxtreme.org/forumenus/showthread.php?t=332
i actually found that the luna theme made things faster in win2k3 (the most interesting tweak i've ever tried).
it actually lowered my 1M superpi time at 3.6 from 14.064 to 13.938!
so close to sub 15m :D

nice going guys :toast:
I'll enjoy while I can. I'm not able to keep up with high fsb boards. Thinking of a new one.
Yes, and I want some of that.
With B2 i should be very close to 12.xx category now.. :(
http://www.abload.de/img/clipboard01fgv.jpg
probably another 15-20 seconds better :toast:
are you finding that these are quicker than cas3
Yes, I can't get high enough at cas3 to make up the difference. Still learning.
Here's a fast sub 14min with my new 2x1GB Super Talent T1000UB1G5 PC8000 Micron D9GKX - Week 9, 2007 (cpuz reported) :)

All without any maxmem tweak yet :)
This has been one I've been waiting a while to do. Still can't quite catch kp and Newbeetle though, haven't touched memset yet however...seems to not play nice with this mem. Though I must thank Vince, Newbeetle, Fredyama and before for their tips, definitely came in handy. :)
Edit- matched Vince with a few MHz less. :p: Sorry I can't show any memory information, as soon as I used Memset, nothing displays it properly anymore.
:-/
Okay, here's the money shot. :D Memset and everything.
Nice run!
Maybe you can show me how to do that later :D
ahh maxmem hey :D nice
I thought it'd be fun to defend CAS 4's honor in the 11.xx category. It wasn't any such thing in the slightest, but here it is.

Thanks NewBeetle-san
It is not that fast (or should I say slow given the thread) but the fsb was nice, still getting to grips with this MB and it seems to be a bit finicky to the mem modules installed (such is DFI from the 939 days)... but here is another angle on the same run of 15.xx

This one's for Vapor, hope he doesn't mind the extra 2.2MHz. :slapass:
are those timings for real 4-4-2-4
It's just ras to cas write delay, 2 is no problem. ;) Definitely not tRCD. :p:
