Finished testing the new PC4000EB. Hit a brick wall at 257 MHz for 3D stability. :-/
My old Ballistix hit 296, but alas, they are dead.
so
I tested a little bit with the new CPU
http://www.forumdeluxx.de/gallery/da...OCZ-EB-280.jpg
I would be interested in finding out whether the expert is better with these modules than the SLi-DR.
I tested both of my sticks individually - one goes to 260, the other goes to 257. I am starting to think it is not the sticks, but more so my motherboard...
Oh well. No way to tell for sure unless someone does a comparison - clocking the same RAm on the SLi-DR, Expert, and Venus. That would be awesome.
considering most people hit the same wall with different mobo's, ill go out on a limb and say its most likely just the limitation of the IC's.
I have a question for you guys. I have an earlier rev of my Ultra D, and I was trying to get around 275 on my RAM, or even 265. The issue at hand is that in blending mode for P95 it will crap out around 30 min in. I got it to boot at 3 GHz once, but I would get some type of TRAP BSOD, so I was trying to get 265 stable. I can game all day with no issues, but if I run P95 it will fail after awhile. I have the LDT on 1.3, Chipset on 1.6, and RAM on 2.7. I tried 2.8 but it seems like it failed sooner, and 2.6 just the same.
In any case what timings would I mess with? Right now I think I have some generic settings I set for these sticks when they first came out (I bought them the day of release). I tried looking at the DFI forum for some (Try these for DFI MoBo) settings and I had to clear the CMOS LOL!
Any idea wat I could mess with? Im at work right now but I can give you guys the settings from memory the best I can or post them later today.
My PC4000EB is 3D stable at 265MHz. I brought it in the beginning of January from newegg. Guess I'm lucky.Quote:

I know that 256 works 100% fine. 257 is no go at all.
Hi, a have this memory, but i have very big problem to overclock them, i can reach only 6-2-3-2@200, 7-2-3-3@250, higher frequencies at any timings are unstable, what is max safe voltage for this memory? Thanks for infos...
MoBo: DFI Expert+latest official BIOS.
2.9 +3% and your covered, but I found that more volts on this ram made no difference in my oc clocks, i found mostly playing with the settings in bios was best for it.Im running the SLI-DR MB I posted a few screens of bios back a page or 2 you mite want to look at them and see if they can help you out on your overclock.
Thanks, it is very difficult to buy this memory in my country, and costs lot of money, i need more than 250Mhz! But i have Infineon CE-6 chips, maybe it is my problem.
It's hard to buy everywhere and its not cheap anywhere, but you should get i would say 255 atleast, there have been some that can get theirs up above the 260 mark but i would say most should do 260 to 270. But do a little tweeking in your bios and see if you can get it to run faster.
Your settings does not work for me, my stable settings: 5-2-3-2@200, 6-2-3-3@255. Nothing above 255Mhz does not work.
WOOOOO!
I finally got my Plat EBs
I have been on auto-notify from Newegg forever with no luck. Every couple days I manually check becuase sometimes it takes a few hours for auto-notify to send you and email. Well, last week, Newegg removed the Plat EB listing from their website all together (you couldn't even search for it or pull up the old link). I was growing disgusted. I checked Friday morning from work and still nothing. Then, yesterday I was IMing my buddy and telling him about the situation (LOL) and I refreshed my bookmark... IT WAS IN STOCK!! I rushed to buy a set and noticed there was only 3 left. I realized I left my credit card in my car :( So I ran about a football field and a half to grab it and get back here :D. I got it ordered and it has been charged and processed. I checked a little later and it was sold out (of course). Hopefully this is from the 3rd batch, in which Ryder said they were seeing pretty good results.
BTW - The auto-notify never emailed me, LOL
-LaTeR
They should be the new batch the other had been sold out for a while :D Good luck hope you get a good set.
does nobody use the winchester cpu anymore? what do you guys recommend me upgrade too? 240 just don't cut it for me anymore
Wait it out for AM2 ;)Quote:

I must admit though, those platinums were nice even when they were only at 255 ;) It is still a very nice kit and OCZ has amazing Customer Support  If I make the change to AM2 I will definately be getting OCZQuote:

3d is all that matters with this memory
270 is a no go....i have huge artifacts and pauses.....
its 2 in 1 memory
if i want to run superpi i just set it to 275 and all is fine.....
for the rest....269
comparing with other brands of memory i see that this ocz EB4000 are way faster than the competition.....3-3-2-5 at 269 gives me 38 ns in everest llatency....
i guess i am done with this kit...stable at 3230 mhz my opty will remain like this.....
i like this memorys....
;)
Being Stable in Games is the big thing for me too, I can run much higher but if it does not stay stable in games at a ubber high setting it does me no good :D But i think where you are sitting now is pretty damn good.

I will try for more later.
Finally got some in the UK Here
Mines finally on its way:banana:
Just got 2nd pair of 2GB EB kit from newegg. The times on the sticks reads 3-4-3-8. Is it suppose to be 3-3-2-8?
Anyway, the SPD timings reads 3-3-2-8. Maybe mislabed? :(
Edit: stable at 2.6v 3-3-2-8 @ 255MHz. Havn't try higher.
We had some sticks go out with the stickers wrong. No worries if they are stable there from the sounds of it :)Quote:

What is the limit on that 148, mine was doing 3025 at 1.42v before the Crucial meltdown 24/7 and would do 3100-3200 on water. Now Im sitting at 2926 with this EB. I need to figure out this occassional reboot issue that showed up with this new OCZ ram.
 Thank you. nice nice.Quote:

What voltages were you using with those?
http://tony.i4memory.com/eXpert/2.3vdimm250.JPG
If you have eXpert, venus, or RDX200 you may want to try undervolting the dimms, i maxed these out at 268fsb 2.5V but prefere the 250 shot here at 2.3V or so....note the timings, i doubt you would see tighter apart from cas2.5 maybe.
Ohh and i never set the correct time and date on test rigs...i did this 18th feb 2006 ;)
İf you asked me ı try 2.5-2.6-2.7-2.8 ı haven't got expert so only try these and +0.03 settings to applly them...Today I rmaed all the sticks to local retailer..Quote:

http://kupras.net/img/final%20final%...%203-3-2-5.jpg
I PM'd OCZAndy and owe him an email back to RMA the kit that won't do 3D @ 250MHz, though I am thinking I maybe better off just cutting my losses by sending them back to Newegg for refund and living with 241MHz on my "good" set. They work flawlessly at these timings and I have yet to try Trc <9 or Trfc <13, and have had some success with my Read Preamble at 5ns which helped close the gap in latency between 241MHz and 255MHz.
My results with these RAM:
245@6-2-3-3@2.75V (3d, 2d rock stable)
245@6-2-3-2.5@3.05V (3d, 2d rock stable)
250@6-2-3-3@2.8V (3d, 2d rock stable)
above 250Mhz ... nothing, my ram is not stable at any voltage and timing.
When you say not stable at any voltage, did you try 2.6v or lower if you can get it?Quote:

Reason I ask is because I see some folks over in the Mushkin Redline thread (same chips) got their best results at 2.6-2.65v, and that held true for me personally as well. Going to 2.7-2.75v gave me more errors. I have mine at 2.6v now and would go lower if my board allowed it (A8N32). Kunaak has a thread where he has infineon modules doing DDR500 at just 2.2v.Quote:

I can't get these modules to work in my expert board. Both work great individually @2.5V DDR500 3,3,2,7 level 8 50%. Can not boot in dual channel regardless of settings. Not stable in single channel mode. Tested memory and cpu on SLI-DR and worked great. Using 12/07/2005 bios. Do these modules boot from a cleared cmos in the expert board?

t-bone, and family man, you both have nice sticks there. Mine will do 3d at 270 and PI at 280 with 2.6v I am spoiled now with 2gb kits!
The lower volts do hold true. 2.6v worked best for me.
Can you guys get
2.5-3-2-8 @ 250 like they did at Anandtech? Apparently they got it to 267 even..... I'm memtesting 2.5-3-2-8 @ 240 right now...
my sticks topped out at 249mhz with 2.5-3-2
Venus different from slidr&ultraD so what's the optimal strength settings for this Ocz sticks.3/6 1/8 or what?Another 2 sets of these sticks will be in my hands soon..:)
I'm using 2.8V for 2.5 3 2 7 @ 250 ... is that too high of a voltage?
I have a set of these running in my P4 rig. With the board minimum of 2.55v they can do 2.5-3-2 at 260fsb and rated 3-3-2 timings at 275 fsb Memtest86 stable :)
Thats spot on for DDR. The crazy people are looking at 3.2v +.Quote:

The Ultra D doesn't offer a 2.5v option as I recall and the board itself seems to require more voltage to get memory stable. 2.8v is not a problem and I wouldn't worry about running those settings.
Well i might change my Ultra-D for a CFX3200...... do you recomend this change?Quote:

I haven't used that board myself. I honestly don't think you will see much performance difference. I would wait and change you platform to Intel maybe? Next AMD?Quote:
