haha yeah, 1st gear = 5ft
4.10's are the funnest things ever to come to mustangs lol.
4.30's are even better :)
if you like 10mpg
i noticed less than a 2mpg drop going from stock 3.08's to 4.10's
3.27's ... i think is what came in the 94-04's
i got a 2 or 3 mpg drop in city, but like 5 or 6 freeway. im tempted to go to the 3.08's or possibly 2.90's just for pure milage, and the fact that when im finally done with my car i'll be able to shift fast enough ^^
i mean mine came stock with 3.08's and i hardly noticed a difference in MPG.
I think I have 2.93, I might go to 3.55...should be a little quicker through the gears but won't kill highway. But I really need to change it because I nearly don't use 5th atm, I can do 65 in 4th @2250.
My new pride and joy! Ford Focus ST 2.5T, 237BHP (on Tesco 99RON)

I jsut gotta get a winter beater now.

Haven't posted here in months. Here's my soon to be car (Picking it up on Tuesday):
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v2...0r/my240sx.jpg
1989 Nissan 240sx Coupe
Right now it's an automatic and stock motor. Not much as far as performance goes. Lowered on tokico blues and sitting on some generic 18" wheels. Full 3" catback and hi-flow cat. Plans for it include dropping in the built SR20DET I've been working on for a while:
Bored 0.020 over
Wiseco forged pistons
Brian Crower 264/264 cams
Full Brian Crower head package (Valves, springs, and retainers)
Garrett GT3582R
Custom made tubular top-mount manifold
HKS Intercooler
Greddy BOV
550cc injectors
Walbro 255lph Fuel pump
Enthalpy rom tune
And a bunch of other goodies. Hopefully get the suspension replaced with some megan racing coilovers early next spring.
My stang came with the factory option for 3.55's and lsd. However that still puts my 5th gear out of use under about 65mph simply because 4th yields about 65mph @ around 2600rpm. My engine does not like being under 2krpm simply because accelerating dumps massive amounts of fuel and yield acceleration slower than a turtle. I only cruise in 5th when doing long trips, most of the time I don't see over 4th.
I think you could re-gear the 5speed to give you that ultra high mpg your looking for, you just better be producing allot of torque down low in the rpm.
yeah, but it's easier to swap out rearend gears than tranny gears.
in the long run the t56 with a .5 6th is in line

Hoping to swap in a 2zz early next year.
nice. im not into american cars. hardly any appeal to me. too big, heavy and dont handle well
my 2 favourite baby's were a M3 & a Scooby WRX. The M3 for luxury and the scooby for driving (basic interior apart from bucket seats). before you comment on the ugly twin headlights, i had them removed as soon as i found a standard pair on ebay.

Passat 3B 1.8T (Tiptronic) // Golf + 1.4 TSI (DSG)
vw are good cars. i have a Passat TDi sport at the moment, 130bhp model
unfortunately after owning a vw your standards are raised and i find i shun alot of cars now
I can't wait till I get a car :(
The 2zz is a fairly common swap, but I feel the motor is a little overpriced and would rather drop in a V6 or a k20. ATM there are no swap kits besides the 2zz :(
Wheels are 15's on Toyo T1-R's 185 F/ 205 R. Wanted it keep the roll mass light.
Stock Struts w/ Eibach Pro-kits (1.2 drop). Looking into a k-sport or Tein SS-P setup next spring.
Right, VW is very good.
BTW: My Golf + (comfortline) has 140hp. :D
I know that, but our family drives only VW, we have nearly all from the EOS up to the Passat. :D
My favorite car is a Audi A6, but it's still too expensive (now). :(

dang u guys have some nice cars! i couldentt afford the tires let alone the hole thing lol i do have a funny story though, i bought my sisters 1991 oldsmobile royal 88 a hour after i got it the starter died...
Good cars are cheap man! http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/1979-...QQcmdZViewItem
That car is only 3k.... XD
Very good cars.
You are lucky, new cars here are very expensive. A 320d starts at 43 k € ( about 60 k dollars!)
cheap! ha - come to the uk
we're robbed 24% tax on your wages unless you earn over 38k then you pay 40% tax.. then there's compulsory national insurance which is another few %
our government are a bunch of robbing wh0res!! besides water, electic, gas, internet, phone, tv channels etc you got:
-a yearly tax to keep a car on the road - 390 dollors
-have to pay council tax TO LIVE under a roof - approx 220 dollors a month
-17.5% tax or VAT on whatever i buy
-even have to pay for a license to own and use a TV!!! 215 dollors and that only gives you 4 free tv channels!!!
-and there is 81% tax on fuel!!!
as an example .. it costs me £55 to fill my 13 gallon fuel tank, which at the current exchange rate is 112 dollors. the passat is giving me 48-63mpg depending where and how i drive. think thats expensive? the silver wrx you can see above was doing approx 4-12 mpg because the previous owner blew £6k or over 12k dollors making the engine drink fuel, but greatfully faster. i was going through over £120 of fuel a week with the scooby, thats an upsetting 245 dollors a week
just so you know i am looking to emigrate!
not really, alot of places arent as bad as the uk. there's plenty of places where the tax is very reasonable comapred to the uk, and there are many of places deemed tax haven's because the living is so cheap by the countries standards.
if i sold all my stuff and moved to canada i could buy a house, a tidy car and be financially comfortable for a good while before considering a job. the british pound is even stronger against the canadian dollor. even moving the to us i would be much better off.
moving from the uk with some cash typically puts you in a good position abroad. its just more appealing
oh just to add
if you try to avoid paying council tax, car tax, tv license or evade paying VAT you can expect a very heavy fine
repeat the offence and you could be looking at jail. boo to our government, may all your teste's turn into cubes and fester on every corner
good point is we dont suffer the same crime rates like you guys, the yanks portray, well a phucked up image to the rest of the world. i hardly hear a nice word say about americans. thing is i know not all of you guys are like that, its just whats makes the headlines
and when i was in america i couldnt bevieve the carb content of half the stuff i considered buying. with all those sugars in your food why do they complain about being overweight!
Guys let's keep this on-topic. This is "What car is your own?" and not "What country is better".
Well, i pay almost 90 € ( 120 dollars ) to fill my car tank with 95 gasoline, that's about 65 liters:shakes:
Very very bad :(
Ontopic, i have a citroen c5!
95 Octane? The highest stuff we have here is 92 and thats rare, the standard for Premium is 91.
Premium here is 98. You won't find anything under 95.
premium in tx is 93, and im pretty sure that's state wide, although you can find 95 in some areas.
in japan its 100 ron
premium over here is 97, 98 & 99 depending where you get it. the wrx i had would only run on 99 or better, otherwise it would "pink" when accelerating
fuel rating is the same world wide btw
my grand am and Beretta Z26 only the grand am and the subaru are on the road.
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h5...cture2-002.jpg
new daily beater/ winter car
http://i60.photobucket.com/albums/h5/95blackz26/229.jpg
its dubbed PINKING here in the uk
over here and in japan where emissions are strict, have smaller engines which are more finely or highly tuned, making fuel quality very important. i was under the impression that american cars are typically 6 cylinder or more relying on raw power and fuel quality was not such an issue.
the subaru (scooby) was a 2litre 4cyl flat 4 but was outputting 342bhp on a rolling road (dyno). weighing in much less than a typical american car (had aluminium hood & panels too), the bhp vs wieght got the car to 60mph in 4.1 seconds. a slight downside to some, but not others (inc me) is that all that power driven through a small engine results in alot of awesome noise, backfiring from overfuel and smile inducing whines & drones. i miss my scooby :(
it's not the same!
91/92 Usa gasoline = 95 Gasoline in Europe.
Some years ago we had Shell 100 octane and BP 100 octane. Now premium gasoline is only 98 oct.
From wikipedia:
This historical "issue" is based on a very common misapprehension about wartime fuel octane numbers. There are two octane numbers for each fuel, one for lean mix and one for rich mix, rich being always greater. So, for example, a common British aviation fuel of the later part of the war was 100/125. The misapprehension that German fuels have a lower octane number (and thus a poorer quality) arises because the Germans quoted the lean mix octane number for their fuels while the Allies quoted the rich mix number for their fuels. Standard German high-grade aviation fuel used in the later part of the war (given the designation C3) had lean/rich octane numbers of 100/130. The Germans would list this as a 100 octane fuel while the Allies would list it as 130 octane.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gasoline
Octane ratings can vary greatly from region to region. For example, the minimum octane rating available in much of the United States is 87 AKI and the highest is 93. In the Rocky Mountain (high altitude) states, 85 octane is the minimum octane and 91 is the maximum octane available in fuel. The reason for this is that in higher-altitude areas, a typical combustion engine draws in less air per cycle due to the reduced density of the atmosphere. This directly translates to reduced absolute compression in the cylinder, therefore deterring knock. It is safe to fill up a car with a carburetor that normally takes 87 AKI fuel at sea level with 85 AKI fuel in the mountains, but at sea level the fuel may cause damage to the engine. In some east coast states, up to 94 AKI is available [4]. In parts of the Midwest (primarily Minnesota, Illinois and Missouri) ethanol based E-85 fuel with 105 AKI is available [5].
California fuel stations will offer 87, 89, and 91 octane fuels, and at some stations, 100 or higher octane, sold as racing fuel. Until 2003 or 2004, 92 octane was offered in lieu of 91.
Generally, octane ratings are higher in Europe than they are in North America and most other parts of the world. This is especially true when comparing the lowest available octane level in each country. In many parts of Europe, 95 RON (90-91 AKI) is the minimum available and the standard, with 97/98 being premium or "super" (except Italy, which hasn't adopted it because of its pollution) [citation needed]. In Australia, "regular" unleaded fuel is RON 91, "premium" unleaded with RON 95 is widely available, and RON 98 fuel is also reasonably common. Shell sells RON 100 petrol from a small number of service stations, most of which are located in capital cities. In other countries "regular" unleaded gasoline, when available, is sometimes as low as 85 RON (still with the more regular fuel - 95 - and premium around 98 available.) In Russia and CIS countries 80 RON (76 AKI) is the minimum available and the standard.

ok here is my car, i'm still working on it so its still on the jacks (which are rated to hold up a semi or 71 tons :D made them myself )

Not enough to set the tarmac alight but it suits me pretty well.
Lets see, I think since I was here last I haven't posted my new acquisition.
Its a Pontiac G6 GT.... yeap another Pontiac. And the G8 will probably be my next ;)
^ mine as well
the g6 looks sooo long in that pic
The G6 looks like a solara from the back...
Do I care? And the latest Altima coupe has a side profile that is remarkably similar to mine.
AGain, do I care? or do they care? No.
You mean the G6 coupe looks similar to the Altima Coupe. The Altima has been in the works for 4 years..:p:
 Oh I forgot, GM developed the G6 coupe, which was released before the Altima Coupe, overnight.....
So no, I don't mean it the other way around. You can't claim first prize if you came in second. And besides, I think I already stated that there is no prize. :):horse:
Dont worry Stewie, just nothing you can do about fanboys and haters, unfortunatley we have some on here that hate certain car makers.
Oh BTW, did you see the G8 wagon, Stewie?
http://img47.imageshack.us/img47/652...vewagonwg3.jpg
Yeah. I hope they bring that Commodore wagon over here as a G8 wagon. It would be so convenient for me. Snowboard and gear in the car, my bike... But I wanna see if they're going to put out a G8 GXP... Rumor has it, they're bringing the G8 production over here, instead of importing. I'm betting the GXP will be on its way then. ;)
Heck, I think even the Ute would be an interesting addition. Then you'd have the G8 Sedan, the Wagon, the Ute, and the rumored G8 Coupe, possibly to still carry the GTO name.
Then the Alpha platform G6 replacement... Its gonna be sweet for Pontiac fans!! :)
The wagon is almost a sure thing, I think it makes scence to give the Dodge Magnum a run. I dont think the Ute is a good fit.
@ the pontiac ... not to offend but thats one of the ugliest coupe's i have ever seen!
its lines, panel length / size to proportion for the rest of the car, bumpers, rear lights, even the alloy spokes dont fit. it reminds me of that of that hyundai accent coupe & early hyundai coupe's
Agreed, the G6 is an ugly car. Could be saved if it's nice to drive, but it's not that, either.
Nissan didn't need to spend years having meetings to make the Altima coupe, they knew from the start what it would be. A more sporting looking version of the Altima saloon, with styling cues taken from the G35 coupe. Firm up the suspension a bit and lively up the interior with better seats, and you're off. :p:
At least I'm not the only one who thinks so about the Pontiacs. Not to bash you if you own one, I just never liked their styling...this goes way back to any Pontiac I can remember.
only ponts i like are the 70's TA, the lt1+ TA, and the newer GTO's
Anyways, back to talking about cars without worrying about haters.
Im not into the Ute myself, and I doubt they'd bring it over here. But it has a unique appeal. I think a Sedan, Wagon, and Coupe would be plenty though. Then with the G6 redesign, which will likely come in coupe and sedan versions only without the convertible (maybe plans for another kind of convertible, maybe the G5 replacement). The Torrent will be replaced (thank god).
I liked the Grand Prix GT and GTP models pre 2004.. And I wish my G6 had more aggressive forward styling. But from what I've been reading, its looking quite like the design appeal will be changing. I already quite like the G8... Very sporty.
The G6 rumored to be a Torana rendition from American origins, not an import, would be another positive addition. Obviously those Ozzies (yes I said Ozzies) over at Holden are quite good at design as of late. It can only mean good things at Pontiac, I think. Finally :).
But I still like my coupe, its grossly under-rated. But everyone has their opinion. I happen to like it. The difference is, I'm not going to force anyone else to like it if they don't. ;)
Being an American citizen of Asian ethnicity, I take exception to your comments about carb content. In Asia, the majority of our meals consist of either rice or noodles. There SURE are a WHOLE LOT of very F-A-T Chinese, Japanese, Vietnamese, Korean and Thai people in this world.
I sure love my freedom fries, linguine, panini, crepes, waffles and my bagette... those all come from the European continent.... Someone must have introduced carbohydrates to America, and it sure ain't the Native Indians.
I'm a huge fan of German cars and I was going to side with you... until your American bashing.
All in all, Pontiacs future is looking good!
And you are entitled to that opinion. But historically, cars and politics are 2 subjects where people think they have to "convince the other guy." I don't remember recently attempting to convince someone else that their taste is of garbage. So I would appreciate the same courtesy.
I'm not a fan of american cars... I have a gripe with them when it comes to reliability... considering I own a ford, that gripe is still growing...
QFT! The T/A WS6 is one sexy beast :slobber: The rest... bleh.
Hah I haven't had any issues (YET) with the infamous ford reliability but I do have a gripe with their engineering disasterpiece known as the 4f27e transmission. I hope this thing rots in hell with the retards who designed it.Quote:
I'm not a fan of american cars... I have a gripe with them when it comes to reliability... considering I own a ford, that gripe is still growing...
lol, this kid that wanted to run me couldnt because his trunk lock broke 2 days after he got the car, i thought it was funny.
and then a week later when we did get going, he kept saying he lost because his 2nd gear wouldnt work at high revs (synchro was busted).
i've got about 60k miles on my current tranny, and the 3rd gear syncro likes to fight with me everyonce in a while, but it's pretty rare(happens during regular driving as well)
and my clutch is fubar but has yet to slip(grabs at the very end of the clutch throw). which im getting fixed this week.(gotta think though, i put my car through hell almost daily.
and guess how much it's gonna cost me.... 550 AFTER labor, that's an HD clutch, with pressure plate, and bearings installed. i'de like to see you get that kind of cheap price on a mitsu/import.(excluding bmw's bought in the past 3 years)
the WS6 definantly is one sexy masterpiece, but i still prefer the SS camaro.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ford_4F27E_transmission
Yes, it was designed by mazda. That's why it bears the Ford name, Ford transmission nomenclature, and is used in the Ford Focus. It's like saying the Mazda MZR is a Mazda motor, when it's just a slightly modded duratec.
Ford/Mazda has one hell of a trick going on here. The uninformed, (like my mom) who refuse to buy american because they are unreliable, buy a mazda because they're japanese. Little do they know they're basically driving an american car.
