Bump??
no submissions? 8 days to go :D
I am still waiting for my cpu and some ram. My current 3770K can't do 5G. :( I am also waiting on some PSC based ram and i want to give 4x4GB samsung HYC0 ram a go. Don't expect any miracles but i hope i can submit something nice once i have the stuff in.
ToyTen - 6:32:453 - 50x100- 110MHz - 8-9-8-21-79-1 - Asus Gene V - Gskill Perfect Storms 17066CL9 2x2GB - 1.7750v Air Cooling

Hey ToyTen nice to see you my friend. You need to work on that score buddy, i can easily beat that with 100MHz on the CPU to spare, lol!

need more mem mhzs mate! 8-12-8-28 and push frequency
Yeah, i know. Soon as i have your CPU i hope to submit a decent score. I have some Gskill Pi's coming as well. :)
:D should be nice!
I have a 3770K arriving tomorrow or Thursday and just some nice BBSE to play with... Might be able to dice the mem, but no time for LN2.
I finally got a better cpu, but the next day I killed my board:eek:
Trying to decide which board to order, or maybe just hold off. Even on SS Ivy is very limited, other than this 5ghz challenge there isnt much else to do without buying a dewar and ln2.
Hey Honda maybe you should prolong this challenge by a couple of weeks?
If I ever make it up your way Ill take you up on that:up:.
I had removed the retention bracket, and the IHS on my first chip. The thermal paste causes the chip to stick to the evap head, you have to be very careful when removing it, or remounting it so it doesnt fall off and hit the socket, or if you move the evap head slightly while mounting it, the chip can move partially out of the socket, and when you tighten it down your pins become fubar, like mine:D
I had also removed the IHS also on my 3570K to put some liquid Ultra in there & found it annoying to get the IHS back in the correct place whilst levering up the retention bracket. Yesterday I stuck it back on with Tiger Seal :D http://www.u-pol.com/product-cat/162...nd-sealant.htm
Dumo - 6:18:937 - 50x100 - 1300.1MHz - 8-11-7-22-88-1T - MVE - Gskill 2133 C8 - 1.91v - air

^^^ Dumo were you running LN2 on cpu and ram? Awesome run!
sicks secondaries dumo :D great score
SS on cpu and cold air on mem.
You still have the blue Gskill right Ron? If I'm not mistaken you got the early batch with green pcb too
Thanks Splave. Board is awesome:up:
This kit like 4-4-4-4 and 13-13 with vttddr @ 0.8125
Thanks Sergio:up:
@ToyTen, CPU is already taken care of by one nice member here, thanks Splave!
Been messing around all day trying to get everything stable but failed time after time.
Then i decided to give my 16GB of Samsung Green low profile stuff a go:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...n23922crop.png
Not really impressive but it didn't take excessive volts, just 1.61V on the RAM but it probably could have done with less.
Now that i have an idea what caused the instabilty i will give it another go tomorrow with the PSC rams. :)
hehehe nice volts for 5ghz mate :D
Sure is, it's a bit hard to read but it says 1.376V. Iirc it was 1.37V in bios. Happy with that. :)
excellent run Dumo, are those green pcb or black?
is that by chance the kit you got form Aussie?
Nice run Dumo! Blue G.Skills are the 32m king it seems:up:
i wish i had my blue gskills back :(
^ nothing quite like em lol best bbse is blue sticks, 2nd best is :banana::banana::banana:ty blue sticks 3rd everything else.
you guys sure, i reckon psc might challenge bbse 7-10-7 7-11-7
Thanks Zen:up:
Dang, gotta scoop up this rig to the office in the morning to keep the fun going:D

:worship: insane run...very nice!!
You need to Ln2 those sticks Dumo, they might be a set that scales with more cold.
Thanks Angoholic. I'll be happy to just follow you when go cold:)
I'm waiting for this guy Raja:D

Board and kits already greased up:up:
we're gonna see surprises huh dumo? i hope your blackness arrives in time.
update in the next few hours
So I did a quick run yesterday after I got everything set up.
Does 6:29 sound okay for 2200 9-11-9 with no tweaked subtimings and no wazza? Sounds pretty in-line to me... I just need to figure out how to get this damned chip to boot with higher memory. It's previous owner said it did 2800 no issue, but I can't get any higher than 2400 to boot.
Using Kingston 2000 9-9-9 BBSE sticks that do 2133 8-9-8 at 1.65V.
try 8-11-9-28 1.85v 2400mhz
Today i tried 2x2GB Trident 2000 c9 which should contain BBSE as far as i know but it was a disaster, couldn't get it to boot over 2200 and it hated volts. Maybe Gskill changed chips on the latest kits as this one got back from RMA a couple of months ago.
Nice job Dumo!
I bought a couple kits of 2000 Tridents from ebay. One does 2400 8-10-7 1.85v 32m stable but not a penny more. The other kit boots 2400 but wont pass. Also bought a kit of 2000 ripjaws from Sears for 46.00, they do 2450 8-10-7 but no more. Its very hard to find a good kit anywhere now. Someone is selling the 2133 perfect storm 6gb kit on ebay now but they are asking waaaaaaaay too much.
Hope to have the blue gskills here by monday to get a score in before this challenge closes. I vote for a 30day extension. I never liked 2d until this thread started, its been a lot of fun, plus Ive learned a whole lot about memory subtimings and clocking thanks to some of the guys here like Raja@Asus.
Interesting issues...
First off, I can't boot Cas 8 with anything over ~2300, no matter what mem volts.
When trying 1M, I can pass at 2550 9-11-9 with 1.775V. If I give it 1.8V, it will fail. These sticks seem like anything over ~1.8V and they flake out. I delidded one and they're definitely BBSE. Does this make sense at all?
Check subtimings for CAS 8. tRWSR & DR need to be 4+ to be stable, in fact I'd set 6 across the entire range just to debug. If that does not do it, those sticks are not that great.
Yeah, definitely BBSE. Raja, I'll try your suggestions when I get a chance.
At low voltages they seem to be pretty decent, but once I give them much juice they start to drop out. I've been doing all of my testing on an MIVG. I'm going to borrow a Z77-GD65 from a friend [and hope it doesn't blow up] for more testing.
Try run 2200 7-9-7-24 1T with 1.6V or less, imo decent bbse should passed 32m easy with any board.
Use the most recent BIOS. What bugs do you have on that BIOS that need an update?
there are also bbse that don't like subzero i noticed
Not sure if they're really bugs, but it seems a bit testy on whether or not it will boot. Sometimes it will fail to boot and then it will go into a Giga-like cycle until I kill the power at the PSU. It will go through the boot, pause on 49, then flash 60 and restart. A successful boot pauses on 60, then goes to 62.
Often times after I apply some settings, the boot will fail. I'll then just have to re-apply them and it will succeed. I also had a hell of a time getting AI II to install. I had to use a patch that isn't linked to on the MIVG page.
And finally, I still can't get any settings from Mem Tweakit to apply. I choose the value, hit apply, then it flashes and all values return to what they were before.
The AI Suite issue is something weird in Windows.
MemTweakIt should work, latest version with MemTweakit Support enabled in UEFI (used to be an option, could be permanently on now).
The rest of the BOOT cycle stuff sounds like the memory controller is failing training sometimes. Not much can be done about that.
The Z77 boards have layouts and components optimised for IB (hardware change), so the P67/Z68 boards are not going to keep up.
Hey Hondacity, long time!
Finally got a Z77 board. MivE couldn't keep up. Got a nice proc too but mems not so nice on air. Results with SSD and wazza.

Hey Hondacity.
it is not possible to postpone the date 14 days, so we can test maximus, here in Denmark, the first card is first arrived 2 days ago.
Does a SSD make a lot of difference for SuperPi?
Faster bootup faster waza,nothing else..
Last day: Aug1 PST
None qualifying date: Aug2 PST
Dumo - 6:18:703 - 50x100 - 1300MHz - 8-11-7-22-72-1T - MVE - Gskill BBSE - 1.915v - air

wow nice dumo , great time for the bandwidth and strong bonus loop
honda what does none-qualifying, as in if you submit on this day its not counted?
Even though August 1 is the final day for Hondas contest, there is no reason why you can't keep running 32m pi and submitting your scores here. This has been a great thread with a lot of people joining together just to have some simple fun and competition. Someone can volunteer and make a new list and run a second competition for another length of time.
the new boards signify ivy bridge marketability. will it introduce better efficiency probably not.
@pro
results outside the All-out-challenge time frame, will still be ranked in another list. so it goes on.
those who participated in the all out challenge time frame will of course be ranked historically
The fastest Gigabyte board in this contest will recieve: GA-X77X-UD5H TH (Thunderbolt board)
Thanks Gigabyte
Thanks Hondacity for putting this together :toast:
time to break out the gear again and force a second round for that UP5 TH LOL
Is there a legit free version of Aida out there somewhere that I'm missing? It looks like I have to pay $40 on their site to use the program...
just display read MB/s if you dont own it, copy is also important but READ is most
It will be awesome!!
why tell us about the prize 1 day before comp ends :P.
awesome prize tho goodluck peeps
i know i know :P. just didnt try a 5ghz run when i was LN2 on mem. Totally my bad tho!
It always surprises me that vendors give prizes out only if you're using their equipment. If the board is good, the winner will start using it regardless of what they were using before. Why artificially limit your market to your current pool and prevent yourself from possibly scoring a new customer in the future?
Gigabyte offered a prize on the last day, I could have said "no, too late" but I acepted the offer.
C-N, appears to be the top Gigabyte board (non Gigabyte employee) ?
C-N is in the lead using a Gigabyte mobo, without being staff, yes.
A very very impressive time indeed! (Im stuck at 19.8'ish sec at the moment)
However, when this being announced so very late, do you think its fair to make it vendor specific? I mean, it should have been in the rule from the very beginning, I think angoholic deserves to win, no disrespect to C-N, but angoholic is the no#1 in the contest, who does not work for any vendor.
Once again; Really impressive result by C-N!
Go C-N for the win!
nooooooO!!!!! REBENCH REBENCH REBENCH!!! lol! great job C-N, you will really love the UP5 (if you win that is)
3570K > 3770K :D
Vote for C-N
lets shake out the backups shall we? dont write off PSC..

this os doesnt support memtweakit, but trfc 78, twr 10, tfaw 16, thirds 1-1-1-1-4-4-1-4-4
the key is the IMC, the difference between 1350 and 1420 7-11-7 is all IMC strength.. my bonus loops are a little weak, but you can see the extra bandwidth pulls back some time..
Attachment 128976
heres another similar run but at the next bump down

well done James!!
played with some PSC today, first session still trying to get my head around them. Pushed into 17s at least which was ok

@ James
that Ripjaw Z kit wouldn't be the quad channel 2400 8-11-11-31 kit would it?
Regardless most excellent work especially with the cpu on air, it does have a killer IMC.
and Dinos excellent run as well, seems like PSC is showing it's true colors:up:
i think it's just a heatsink he's using
absolutely sick combo pro
well done! :yepp:
anyway i did not try 1400 7-11-x-x with xhd because i was limited to 1,92v with the gene :D
less than 24hours to go
@ M.Beier, I don’t agree or disagree with anything you said & don’t take any offence at all... in fact thanks for the praise  I would add I have noticed a lot of brand competition on this board recently coupled with what I believe to be Fugger using his influence with vendors to run/promote comps etc & offer prizes. I for one am very happy to see vendors running comps giving prizes & Fugger doing what he does as imho its all good & although I may or may not agree with vendors wishes regarding what/who the prize are offered to that’s there right & I respect that.
Today will be a good day to watch the 32M backup top trumps :)
Great numbers Youngpro & Dinos
I don’t have any backups what I have posted is the best I can do with relative ease i.e. board in case normal cooling etc.
Good!
But - I will take offence from angoholic making my results look so bad, haha ;)
Jokes aside, I agree, very good 'contest', but mostly, eventhough MovieMan earlier posted it being 'off track', I think there has been a really good dialog in this thread, about effeciency, and how to improve performance of the 2D benchmark.
I think people who want to start benching, will get alot of golden advice, from reading this thread - and that - that is what xtremesystems.org has been all about since I joined in 2005, helping eachother improving.
