Yeah, but your statement was a little bit misleading. Every point is precious. ;)
[OT] I even have one more Elpida Hyper set. :D [/OT]

Would be a good idea to move the general GTX580 discussion over to the GTX580 oveclocking thread. This thread was about 1.025 VID cards overclocking investigation and its well and truly way off topic and I think best left alone now unless someone has more VID vs clocks related info.[/QUOTE]
agreed!
I have something strange, my ASUS GTX580 is clocked @900MHz and mem 4200MHz with 1.1000V and my GTX580 makes a whistling sound or a buuuuuuuuuuhhhhhh and a booooohhhhhhh real light when he does 3D rendering.
Temps are 61 degress celsius on 100% load (furmark, OCCT) and during ATItool when the cube is standing still to detect errors it makes a peeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeep.
No crashes or what so ever but can somebody recall this or know this sound, is it the proc or the capacitors and is it dangerous?
I touched the VRM's and the are hot but not to hot to touch.
Cooler is a Shaman cooler and i used a long heatspreader for the VRM's of a GTX280/285 GPU.
edit: solved
This is what I've got so far at MAX voltage 1.1475
https://lh6.googleusercontent.com/_s...C_986_2400.jpg
Man I was happy with 990 at 1.213v , yours is mad.
Guys, how to be sure that all the RAM chips are stable?
I am currently testing with CUDA GPU Memtest but it does test just about 1/3 of the memory size. Will it test always the "same" 512MB?
How to test all the 1536MB together?
Thanks, goodbye.
1ghz on the core is not "usefull" ..... are u lc your vga?
if u are on stock cooling, i suggest you to lower that voltage.
this is what i get, not so far from you, 985<989mhz http://3dmark.com/3dm11/959068
not bad. but i do not like running my gpu with full voltage. i get the same speed with less voltage.
Are you sure the reference PCB VRMs can handle 1.2V? I thought 1.15V was max for those. That's what EVGA's Fan Unlocker bios opened them up to.
DCII's 10 VRMs should be able to handle 1.2V though.
MSI's 580 Lightnings 12 GPU VRMs can handle 1.3V with their TFIII air cooler.

I noticed that your driver is different from mine, 8.17.12.6760 NOT FM Approved. The difference between our scores is way to high to attribute to 4MHz
As of now my card is stock cooled, I'm not running the card at these settings 24/7, its just for the benches.
Is 1.1475V really dangerous?
well at the same time i do not really think that the difference between our scores is only because i'm using 267.60 drivers, it doesn't make sense!
1.1475 ? i personally don't even use that voltage for my 580 water cooled at 990mhz, the max voltage for my 580 is 1.150, as i said , i did not tried even once.. so i suggest to use that voltage carefully..
well can you do a ride of 3dm11 with 267.60 drivers with the same speed to see if something changes? (my rig is offline, so i can't bench to proof this drivers question)
Finally found the driver and as expected my score is on par, I even OC'd a bit more to match the Core speeds.
https://lh3.googleusercontent.com/_s...0%20Driver.jpg
While p3gaz_001 has an overall higher score if we look at just the GPU scores mine is 7297 Vs p3gaz_001 7302 well within reason.
:D oh so is the driver!!!! btw i did never reach that speed on stock cooling... are u maaad! :) lol
i'll tell you when my rig is working. i can't use my desktop... i've got problems with hdmi connection.
first off.. this thread is not just about 1.025vid or just about different vids or just about oc clocks or just about cooling or just about benchmarks or just about mods or just about games.. it contains all of the above and then some
if you guys dont like my thread or if you dont agree with me or the title of the thread.. start your own thread/s.. no problem.. fyi the 950/2300 in the title is avg not max
second off.. you guys are welcome to post anything gtx580 related here i got no problem with the wide variety posted thus far
third off.. heres pix of assassins creed brotherhood after renaming ACBSP.exe to metro2033.exe no stuttering at all just beautiful silky smooth play
one of very few games i am enjoying
album: http://img688.imageshack.us/g/image00000m.jpg/
So basically its the VRM that limiting the max voltages and not really the GPU frying.. how much can the GTX580 really take assumed it has like 24phase power on aircooling.. maybe 1.5v ?
Napalm just wanted to keep discussion here on topic which was about VID vs clocks. Kinda obscure thread title for a general OC thread too so I made one specifically for general GTX580 discussion.
is not what i've asked..... i'd liked to know for wich purpose he renamed the assassins creed exe with metro.
that's sound strange.. :| well... i'll start to talk about "sli" very soon ;)
Do you want to stress your cards mates?
Then try 3 instances of CUDA GPU Memtest = 1200MB of GDDR5 tested!
Talking about my case:
4500Mhz @1.075V one instance would fail
4400Mhz @1.075V two instances would fail (but one would pass!)
4300Mhz @1.075V three instances would fail (but even two would pass!)
i'll try it right now.
the only map working is Alien Vessel .... is the same for you Napalm?
No it was fine for the initial content. Then people being lazy just started posting general OC stuff in here as it was the only thread related to GTX580's.
I made a general GTX580 OC thread so no need to rename this one plus if you did it would just confuse things now.
all the other maps seem to work
last night i removed the 3rd 580.. back to 2way sli.. unlike the 5ghz/tri sli above this @ default 980x and sli
http://i56.tinypic.com/5zodhy.png
http://i54.tinypic.com/65xtlh.png
from the beginning the thread was about gtx580 oc stuff.. just a bit more specific if you havent noticed the zillion posts/benchmarks/oc clocks from the lowest vid to the highest/single/sli/tri sli/everything posted and this wasnt just about diff vids or "vid investigation" as you put it
i know you made thread all the peeps that got beef with me dont like me whatever.. can post in your thread it works out perfectly everybody should be happy  and dont worry title shall remain such
CryptiK really whats up? whats the problem? what is it? i cant figure out..
Nothing's up mate, and people round here respect you a lot, I know I do. You are often the first guy to grab new hardware and push it with mods on air and water beyond what most people will. Your threads are always interesting.
I just thought it was specific to VID vs clock investigation (1.025 VID specifically), and I could see people were starting to post normal OC and unrelated stuff in here. To tell the truth I questioned whether or not I should post in there when I got my GTX580, and after posting one or two screens decided against it and made a general OC thread titled as such. That's it, nothing more. My intention was not to offend you by doing so, so I'm sorry if you feel like I took over your thread by making the other one or something. Just from the title and initial content, it doesn't seem like a general thread, which every other forum has, and I myself questioned posting in it, and if I have, I bet others have too. You gotta admit it sounds pretty specific doesn't it!
Very nice score, 3 cards are a powerful combination. My new larger LCD actually gave me some stuttering with a single card last night in BFBC2, so with some games at full candy settings at least 2 cards are certainly needed for smooth game play.
@CryptiK
thanks thats just 2 580s not 3.. i removed 1 because i had really bad flow a few days ago.. once ill have enough/proper liquid flow in my system ill try again @ 3 580s
definitely go for another one

well thanks for the kind words
when the card got released back in nov all the review sites had low oc clocks 800 just over 800 the most was like 850 860.. i was like the card should do way more than that..
after a short time with diff vids i started this thread to show anyone interested in gtx580 what a low vid gtx580 can do.. at first post ive asked that you guys post your vids and oc clocks personally i didnt need confirmation on diff vids oc clocks
as for the title itself mainly to push you push your gtx580.. like i said 950 is avg for this vid as for the 2300 memory unfortunately nvidia back in nov revised the reference gtx580 pcb and by december already the new revision got into retail
because of that the only thing id change in the title is 2300 to 2200 but then again now we got custom cards like the msi lightning asus dcuII and soon gigabyte oc that can do more than 2300 mem thats why i didnt bother to change
just because the thread is vid related doesnt meant it has nothing to do with oc clocks.. oc clocks right there in the title
i dont feel you took over my thread at all im not offended like i said i got no problem with anyone starting another gtx580 oc thread
you guys have kept the thread alive and i appreciate it and thank you to all that have contributed
if you guys want to let the thread die stop posting i will stop aswell its all good
:toast:
edit: matter of fact everyone please post all your gtx580 oc clocks in CryptiKs thread.. posting mine now
this thread has become too big has too many posts to sift thru just for oc clocks since it contains a wide variety of gtx580 topics
please let this thread go down and continue @ CryptiKs thread
thanks!
I might get laughed at but here it goes: with 1.025 vid and 850mhz I get a driver error when I run Vantage in P mode.(I used afterburner for the OC) I tried the same setting with the latest Nvidia inspector and then I launced Skyrim(with lots of mods heavy on the GPU) and it worked fine. My GPU is an Asus DirectyCU 2 so I don`t quite know at what lvl. shpuld I keep the fans at. I`m gearing up for 900mhz gpu and 1300mem. Every help wpuld be much appreciated. Thank you!
what vgpu you at ?
either load spike/s require more vgpu or the vgpu is not enough to sustain the load
fans always as high as you sustain :)
A pic to show that in Unigine my new settings actually worked:
Attachment 125051
P.S. Although I do think the vgpu is a tad high for these clocks but with the fan at 75-80% temperatures never got higher than 65 degrees celsius.
probably the vgpu.. very likely it needs higher than 1150.. i think 1150 on the dcu2 580s is equivalent to 1050 on the reference 580s at least as far as soft goes.. so it definitely needs more like 1250
i have a gtx 580 hydrocopper2 just sitting here waiting until i water cool it with the rest of my system. what kind of clocks do you guys think i can get 24/7 with it?
Hi guys. I am searching for an Asus EN GTX580 reference/voltage tweak like the one I already have for my new rig..
Where can I find it? No shop has it available.
