Stilt, we have very simillary results for motherboards :)
First try. This mobo has a huge vdroop and it's very hard to use the 1:12 mem divider, too.
vcore is set to 1.6V in bios, resulting 1.52V in idle and 1.44V in load.
Waiting for CH5F-Z, but there's no sign when it will be available in Bulgaria :(
Hopefully it will be this year...

Managed to find time to install the water cooling on the 24/7 system and made a quick test.
The score is on the weak side, but still a good frequency without throttling of the board.
The key here probably is the full-cover block on the Crosshair IV Formula.
5.31GHz at 1.56V and normal ambient temp is decent, I think.

very nice Infra :), looks I need some improve with my FX :). Is chance with allinone watter beating some custom watter?:)
Very nice scores coming after Vishera debut!
It seems new models are clocking slightly better than old ones which is nice considering AMD is stuck with 32nm for now.
Keep pushing guys! I love this competition!
impressive, barrel and infra!
Dammit, now I'm really wanting one of these :p
Probably just flash 3029 with 1090T , shut down . clear cmos . swap cpu . boot up .

Is that the balance of heat, voltage and speed, or do you think you could tweak it a bit further?
Nice one Macci! :) The best, what I and froxic can save with core 0/1 was this. We got over 8000 MHz with core 2+3 (something about 8040-8050), but we have only photo...

Nice one macci!, He or LN2?
BTW, for those interested, I added a "FX's Only" score chart to Post #1 here (CB 11.5 score charts).
Result from some rather quick testing with new hardware in cold winter air:
http://img831.imageshack.us/img831/2...ench953nic.png
awesome man, what temperatures?:)
lol, you must be frozed with -17C in room :-D
Damn you Dr Swizz.... :p: (Awesome score BTW! :yepp:)
I've been falling behind in the Cinebench list, so I decided to push my newest chip to see what it would do...
This is my best score so far, but it still pales in comparison to yours!
My only saving grace may be the fact that this was done with an 8320...
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps12084561.png
I was using H2O with winter air to get this score too...
Well, I did take advantage of the cold winter air.
Under normal ambient temperarures I can only run Cinebench at 5.3GHz and I cannot push the CPU/NB as high without causing the CPU cores to become unstable.
Taking all this into account, your score is indeed very respectable. :)
Here is a slightly better result I managed to get a few days ago:
http://img545.imageshack.us/img545/6...ench958nic.png
omg good...So, I must waiting for cold too :)
Just what the Doctor ordered. :) Can you tell what batch/week for that cpu Doctor?
I need cold, this winter is too hot in CZ :)...Still over zero temperatures. Think, for 5400 MHz or so Il need about 0 C in room :), now is it impossible

@FlanK3r:
It has gotten allot warmer here in Sweden too. Currently it is +2C.
When I did this, however it was -10C:
http://img705.imageshack.us/img705/5...ench966nic.png
how good is this piece with normal ambients?:)
Dr_Swizz, thanks. :) Seems an awesome piece of slilcon! Haven't seen many but i think this must be one of the better clocking ones. A good 200MHz over my old 8150 which was about average. Since default clock for the FX8350 is +400MHz over the FX8150 one would expect higher clocks though.
@FlanK3r:
Well, I only have this single Vishera-based CPU do I don't have any other CPUs to compare it to directly, using the same cooling etc.
The CPU seems to be prime95 stable at 4.8GHz using 1.45V.
I have tried running Prime95 at 4.9 and 5.0GHz too and the voltage/frequency scaling does continue. I seem to be able to get the system stable and those frequencies too, but the power consumption becomes too high for my taste.
The CPU/NB is stable at 2400MHz undervolted to 1.1V. :)
I can run Cinebench at 5.2GHz.
I have done suicide runs by increasing the multiplier up to 5.5GHz (for all cores. My motherboard/BIOS is buggy(?) so I cannot adjust the frequency to individual cores  ).
I use a small custom water cooling loop with a 50% glykol/50% water mixture for the CPU.
@Zeus:
I think you missed that I used cold winter air to cool my system when I ran the benchmark (?)
Nope mate haven't missed that, the 5350MHz my old 8120 did was at temps below zero ambient temps and watercooling. Can't remember how cold it was but it was freezing and the computer was outside. At 20?C ambient temps that cpu did around 5140MHz for Cinebench 11.5. ;)
Here's the best i could do with my crappy 1236PGT CPU:
http://i.imgur.com/6mGXL.png
2?C ambient.. i need a new CPU!!
this is good, no crappy with 20C ambienst around!
I's with 2C ambient and yes, cpu seems to be on the weak side. Maybe you have some really bad module?
Yes in normal 20C ambient this would have been okay. With just 2C ambient i would have expected to hit at least 5400MHz or maybe even slightly more.
I don't think it has one bad module Ivan, running Prime on this CPU takes out cores randomly not just the same one all the time.
Even if it was just one it still had to go. Let's hope the next chip is (a lot) better. :)
The temperature dropped to around -19C today so I decided to do one more try with Cinebench to see if I could get a bit closer to a score of 10.x.
@Zeus: I am going to pray that the next FX-series CPU that you get performs better. :)
http://img16.imageshack.us/img16/903...ench981nic.png
Thanks Doctor. :)
About your CB 11.5 score: how is any mortal supposed to top that score with water or aircooling? Absolutely out of this world! No matter how good my new CPU will be this is gonna be a hard nut to crack! :D
WOW... That is definitely a nice score Doc!!!
If anyone's chip can hit 10 pts on cold air yours is probably the one... ;)
My highest score (9.2x) was done with just a radiator outside on a budget Asus board (M5A97 R2).
Next time it gets really cold here I'll have to lug this heavy azz 800D outside and make a run at your score.
Although I have my doubts whether this chip has that much in it!
we have still "hot", maybe my 5750 MHz chip can do this...I need only very cold for 5500+ MHz R11.5. But validation 5750 MHz 1.565V and 22C ambients is promising ,-)....
Thank you guys for the kind words.
Someone who has a more powerful watercooling setup should still be able to beat my score, provided that he/she has similar chip + roughly the same outdoors temperatures. I know from previous experiences that my current setup is a little weak when benchmarking power hungry CPUs.
I know for one that my water will freeze once ambient goes lower than -6?C. One would need some anti-freeze and nobody uses that stuff anymore these days.
Here in Sweden antifreeze available in all gas stations and many other stores.
Perhaps you can find some online store where you can order some.
For my system I use a 50% solution. This keeps the water from freezing down to around -35C. Antifreeze does not conduct heat as well water so you probably want to use a solution with less antifreeze than this though.
I think you misunderstood. :) It's widely available in my country, that's not the problem but i don't want it in my cooling loop. In the early days people used it to avoid corrosion now everyone is on plain distilled water with either a piece of silver or PT nuke.
We don't have temperatures lower than minus 6C herre so i dont think that will be too much of a concern.
Do you have HDD's in your rig? I've heard those can freeze, ever had that?
There is a bit oldschool...My last newest x4 965 BE C3 with a lot of LN2 (remains of Ln2)

@Zeus:
Well, I do advice you to keep an eye on the temperatures & the speed of your pump. I accidentally had my water cooling setup freeze at one point when I had no antifreeze in the loop. I was doing some benchmarking outdoors and the temperature was around 0C. When it got dark the temperature dropped to about -5C. I was adjusting some BIOS settings when the system started to lock up. I noticed that the CPU temperature was around +45C. I quickly turned off the system. The water in the tubing seemed to be frozen solid. Luckily all components survived intact. :)
I mostly use SSDs when doing outdoors benchmarking, but when I do use HDDs I put them in a special foam container to keep them warm. Both the cold and the humidity when you bring them back indoors can kill HDDs.
@FlanK3r:
Nice, especially the 4GHz for the CPU/NB. :)
really nice one flanker, it should be lethal for some FX6100
my latest run, finally mine Elpida Hyper got retired... first time I could make an 8GB kit scream louder.

maybe tomorow Il try again R11.5 after longer time with 8350 :)
I havn't used this bench in a long time, I figured I would get it a shot on eyefinity. I'll push it harder later today and see if I can break 9.7

Had to look twice how you'd gotten 9.56 at only 5G, lol. Without tryin to be rude, it's AMD CPU's only here mate.
Oh my apologies. I only saw the thread title.
Carry on.
I decided to do try Cinebench on my best Sempron 145.
http://img837.imageshack.us/img837/289/cinebench144.png
wow... 1.56 with single core is nice. What cooling? 5 GHz is impressive...btw, at hwbot.org is now Cinebench R11.5 submission too!
I used the same water cooling setup that I used for the FX-8350. Ambient temperature was -20C. The CPU itself is Prime95 stable at 4.6GHz at normal ambient temperatures. :)
wow, 4.6 GHz, its golden Sempron :)
btw, add your Sempron, you will be at 1st place :)
http://www.hwbot.org/benchmark/cinebench_r11.5/
It's very nice Sempron, indeed, but according to my testing many of the new ones can run 4.5-4.6 stable on water cooling and ambient temps.
Lack of L3 cache and 2-core die makes them run really cool even with far from high-end cooling.
Problem is finding one that does really high HTRef on LN2 :).
Yours seems to be a good candidate, unless it has a coldbug...
@FlanK3r:
Thanks, but I think I'll stay away from HWBot a bit longer.
I used to do some benchmarking for HWBot and I did enjoy it, but had some bad experiences with the admins being overzealous with applying the rules + adding extra rules in addition to officially written ones when I did benchmarking with older hardware and Win98. That really killed all the fun of doing the tweaking and benchmarking for HWBot for me.
Perhaps I'll start to submit results to HWBot again at some point in the future, but right now I'd rather only focus on having fun tweaking and overclocking my hardware. :)
@I.nfraR.ed:
Last year I experimented with overclocking the HTRef on my GA-MA790X-UD3P motherboard using this Sempron. I managed to reach 471MHz. I should think that it is the CPU/NB that limits the OC of the HTRef here though.
http://valid.canardpc.com/show_oc.php?id=2250385
It might definitely be THE one :)
I've been doing some winter H2O testing to see If I could move up in the ranks a little...
I'm not putting my whole rig outside, just trying to cheat. Here's a pic:
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...ps769a2989.jpg
A friend came over the other day, came back in the living room and said "Dude, what happened? Did a robot explode in there !!!?"...
I guess she has a point, it does look pretty geeky. :p:
Anyway, it's close to 0c here tonight so I tried to best my CB 11.5 score on the old 8350 (1236PGN).
I was hoping to move up in the ranks a little, but this board is at it's limits. It's a budget board (Asus M5A97 R2.0) and anymore CPU voltage caused a "CPU Overvolt" error during post.
I need a decent board for bench testing, I may pick up an open box Sabertooth next time I see one on NewEgg...
I didn't move up, but I did manage to beat my previous best, so it may keep me in the top 10 a bit longer...
http://i30.photobucket.com/albums/c3...psc1c967ff.png
The "Wow" was just a fluke that happened during testing, so I saved it. :p:
I'm rambling now, and this is a little OT, but I closed on my house tonight!
I'm officially a "home owner" now, and will be moving into the new place at the end of the month...
Nice one Dave, i love the pic of that exploded robot!
It's a bit hard to see but are you using a heatercore there? And an ancient Swiftech block and ancient Hypers? Cause if you do 62 points is a massive score! lol
I thought you had a Crosshair V Formula as well, why didn't you try on that board?
Hopefully today i have a new CPU coming, fingers crossed it will be a nice one so i can give you some competition for old time sake. :)
62.84?:D Wooooow :)
Wow! OMG! Great! Insane!
Sorry, but I don't consider it as a good practice to wake up every thread without actually saying anything.
Your comment is just meaningless and doesn't give the reader any valuable information.
When I open the AMD section and see some thread has new posts, I expect to learn something new, see a new score or a real discussion for a given topic.
All in all, it's not a chat.
Nothing really personal against you, many other XS members do it as well. Maybe the forum culture is different in different countries, I don't know...
Gratz Dave on your new home! I wish you smooth move as this is the part I HATE the most when moving (luckily not planning this any time soon)!
Somehow I have a soft spot for ghetto WC rigs and yours is just fantastic! Reminds me of my setup from early 2000.
Keep up pushing as your scores are climbing!
My new result with 3rd FX-8350 chip, looks strong in hard benchmarks. For validation the same as my second chip. But I need fresh OS, my scaling is not much good...It could be 9.2 or so with this settings.

Here's my 1244PGT at -1.2?C :
http://i.imgur.com/HvbPMVX.png
Let's hope there's some left in that chip at colder temps.
Good eye Eugene... Yep, it's all old gear, a Chevette heater core (w/Scythe 3000 RPM fan) a Swiftech XT block and my old GT Hypers...
The C5F is in my main rig (800D case) and it's just too heavy to lug outside. :(
Your new chip is looking very good, but honestly my 1236 is only slightly weaker than the 1244. They both seem to be good batches.
Thanks for the kind words Lightman... I apologize for the OT comment, but it's a pretty big step for me and I was/am excited. :D
When it comes to CB11.5, core clocks make the biggest difference...
If you'll notice in my screen shot the 9.25 was done with Mushkin BBSE's @ 1050 7-10-7 and the difference is marginal at best. :yepp:
Considering your cooling and ambient temps that definetly looks like a good one Flank3r!
Infra/Kevy: This was already an active thread (no one woke it up), and although I didn't post extremely useful information, I did post my highest score to date. Sorry if I offended you guys... :(
I know you both have skills, and I do tend to post after I've had a few beers (like now), guess you could just "ignore" me...
Dave, i need you to give me some competition buddy!
http://i.imgur.com/m6JUFaW.png
Not sure I can compete with that Zeus!
I haven't put the 1244 on cold air yet and it's pretty useless to move it to that M5A97...
As far as daily ambient use the 1244 is good for about an extra 70mhz stable over the 1236 (4790 vs 4720).
I'll be busy with the move for the next couple weeks. Once I get settled in I'll grab a new (clockable) board and see what I can do... ;)
If my new chip can get close to that I'll be a happy camper!
Dave, get your priorities straight buddy. The house is much more important, this battle can wait. :) Hopefully we'll have some more contenders, like in the Bulldozer days. I'm gonna get me one more chip, i need one that will run CB at at least 5.3G in normal ambient. I know there are plenty out there that are capable of doing that.
Might snag me a 1245PGT, last week i was informed a store i asked had those in store. :) Haven't seen any around with that weeknumber yet.
Good luck with the new home Dave, when it's done i'll come over for a beer. :toast:
Mine is running CB 5.3Ghz at 20C ambients, lol, might be the full motherboard waterblock that is helping.
The only way I could give you guys some competition is if I found a way to stick the radiator in the freezer !
Or take the computer up to the mountains, lol!
Temps make so much difference to these CPU'z .......
Thanks for that info, so we just need to concentrate on CPU clocks, some people are running high CPU/NB.
From what i have seen high fsb seems to have the same effect as high CPU/NB.
Next week when the Raystorm gets here, will see if I have any improvements.
If I do, then could consider the freezer mod, lol
:p

High nb clocks help thuban and mc (magny cours, server chip)
but not the FX8xxx series ...not nearly as much.
The bottleneck of this current arch is the FP unit.
Some more food for thought... 10 is darn good for an Amd 1p, a key thing to remember is this is an intel compiled benchmark.
It is not numa aware... also known as crippled on amd rigs.
