I think I can lower some voltages however 1720 6-6-6-18 feels very nice:up:
^^ Nice job.
Same chip that got me to 6.8GHz back in March.

It's been collecting dust ever since. But I just started putting together a new SFX build and dusted it off to see what she could do with ambient cooling :)
This was done with the following:
Gigabyte H55N-USB3 mini-itx FTW
Intel Core i5 670 - L935B898 - 1.525V set in BIOS *LLC disabled* 1.472V at load
2x1GB Crucial Ballistix DDR3-1600 CL8
Corsair AX1200 (total overkill :D)
Water cooling with 21C ambient temp

Thanks :) I've very close to 4.9GHz right now....5GHz should be pretty easy next winter :p:
Oh, and I found the batch # :D
http://i161.photobucket.com/albums/t...n/IMG_8334.jpg
Oh, BTW - it passes fine with the mem @ 1000MHz as well :D
It's obviously the AX1200 doing it :p:
Very nice! :D
Welcome to the new members, and thanks for your submissions, everyone! Good job!
New Linpack libraries for LinX are out, btw. They fix stress testing for Gulftown CPUs.
Just reposting:
I also added a link to the updated LinX distributive (0.64 with the latest Linpack libraries) to the OP.
i've come to the conclusion that i don't think i can get LinX to be 20 pass stable with my system at or above 4.5ghz.
why? because i use 12gb of memory @ 1866 (1880 actual) at the moment... and i think it's becoming too much of a load on the IMC to go any faster. any time i do it'll error out left and right.
but, at 4.3ghz / 1880mhz, LinX is doing 20 passes stable @ 81.7-82.1 Gflops w/ HTT enabled.
I have a 655K which was terrible on LN2, but I'm going to give it a shot with this as well. We'll see how it goes
Quick update to put me at the top of the 2C/4T list :D
Gigabyte H55N-USB3 mini-itx FTW

Nice job, now i have to get back to work with my 660 lol. maybe i need to try an H55 board they are doing very well.
^ he was using HT, i had it disabled for 5ghz, my chip ran 4800 pretty easy on low vcore, i will try it again at 4900 when i get time, but after 4800 it gets a lot harder to pass.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&postcount=632
IMC doesn't do nearly as well with 4GB :(
either does mine, I can pass easily with it in single channel however at much higher clocks:)
Yeah noticed that with the duals. My i3 550 runs 4.85ghz with 2gb, 4.77ghz with 4gb and just over 4.6 with 8gb. That's KO stepping mind, my 530's were considerably worse with 8gb.
my 655k did great at 4500-4600 but any higher it scales horrible even with 2gb of ram. the 660 has been very good with 4gb up to 4800mhz, tried last night to go higher but is a real pita, linx stops early and says finnished without error but after only 2-3 loops. i will stop at 4800 4threads, that chip has done nothing other than run linx every time i nstall it for a couple months, it is retired now. would hate to kill a good chip.
small update from me =]

forgot to change memory timings but passed anyway =] working on 4650 ;]

Nice voltage kill_a_wat !!
Got another chip I'll have to join with when it cools down outside, can't justify messing with LinX for 4.5Ghz when 4.25 is rock stable where I'm at atm.
i7-880 ;)

Probably only 4.5Ghz in the club on stock cooling :p: 96C
I've been testing i5 760s. You'll need a wonder chip to get in here with one of those on air.
I've got a really good one here compared to the others I tested (low vid but v high temps) which will do it on water. 4.4ghz is just about possible on air, temps hitting 90c already though.
the lynnfield chips are hard to get stable at 4.5, i have been trying 4.6 linx on my 870 HT disabled and seems impossible. if you get that 760 to pass 4.5 PiLsY its a keeper for sure.
Got 4445 to pass last night @ 1.376v load indicated in cpuz. That took 1.5125v in bios with no LLC on. Having to use 22x multi as I cant go over 4300 and maintain bclk above 210. You're right man, 4500 will be right at the limit of what these chips can do. I think 23x multi would see me to 4500 on air, odd multi's clock higher and not pushing the bclk really helps core clock.
Having said that I am running the ram at 10x so 2000mhz+ @ 7-9-7-24-2T (g.skill eco). Had to drop to 4gb though as NONE of the cpu's I had would go stable over 4.1ghz with 8gb of ram no matter what voltage or bclk I tried. Below 4.1 was fine. Symptom was Linx just erroring at the end of every pass no matter what volts. 760 is still B1 step incase anyone was wondering. Booted right up on the non 760 bios, ran at 12x133 default, vid detected correctly but post screen listed as unknown cpu. Was 100% stable though. Upgraded bios to F10 anyway, but handy to know that you at least have a chance of completing a bios flash for full support if you cant pre-flash support.
Since they came out, it has been the case with average and even well above average chips that they run up to 4.3-4.4 with reasonable voltages, and then basically hit a wall. My 750 would do 4.2 with 1.28v loaded but took 1.376 loaded for 4.3.
Im at the limit with this heatsink, pure and simple. I got this one cos it was quite cheap - is the titan fenrir v2 actually any good? I was bloody annoyed it came with a backplate for every socket except 1156 (and the ek multi doesnt fit this board either). The fan looks like a POS, but I can't see more than a degree or two from a fan swap. I probably need 10c improvement over the fenrir to get 4.5 stable enough for linx. Prime runs fine for over an hour, just linx gets it too hot.
Still, if it was easy what'd be the point? :)
HWMonitor reads about 5c higher than realtemp. Impressive though, I "only" managed 4350 on the stock heatsink. Thats a good cpu you got there .
@ toptakachi - excellent work!
530 on ggbt H55M is supposed to be the latest greatest hot setup for oc - 530 sampled to get 6.88ghz  - http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=254077
I would think you should be able to go much higher on water.
Thank you Sergio.
OC Nub,another great run:up:
Thanks radaja, very happy with this newer batch 930
looks like a great batch
Kickass run there OC NUb, nice job
Yes nice run OC NUB :D
OC Nub killing it as usual that is probably one of the nicer 930's I have seen, very leet:cool:
What is the VID of that chip and the batch number?
Also is that on the UD7 or the R3E?
Hope this counts. Can't get past 195 BCLK. It's either the board or the chip. :shakes:

@SimpleTECH: Try another BIOS or try to skip a bunch of bclk and go to something like 205 or 210 x 20 just to see, some bad BIOS have bclk "holes"
@Daddyjaxx: Nice temps!
Methinks my one side of the block isn't as tight as the other since the last three cores are 10c hotter. When I get around to it, I'll take the top off and screw them down a little better.
My i7 960 totally sucks :( Trying to get to 4.5ghz but i think it's impossible for me, now testing this:

Grats Hornetcup, but what's with the gFlops? I think I could do 54ish with my old q9550 and some d9 ddr2...
It's a good thing someone else noticed it, as I don't want to be the only one to spoil the fun. :(
I don't want to underestimate others effort, but old linpack doesn't adequately stresses Gulftowns and passing 20 with those doesn't prove stability.
Today I did a quick test and running old linpack proved to be 8-12 deg.C cooler then new linpack. With old one I get 61-62 GFLOPS and with the new one 81-82 GFLOPF @ 4.2GHz.
So, 50 some GFLOPS is very strange...
on one of my tests at least (4.1 at 1.325 VCore) low gflops indicated instability...normally at 4.1 it should hit around 75 or so for me, but when it was unstable it would only hit 52-53 and the temps were very low (like 48-49), normally should hit 56-58. same binaries, i've been using the march 2010 one since the beginning. imo (and probably controversially), i don't consider 20-25 runs a proper test for 24/7 any more, i've had several bomb out on run 30+. i run 100 runs now, but i'm not going for glory runs, i'm after 24/7. i keep volts low (< 1.35) and temps are well in check (never more than 60). tbh ultimately 100 is prolly not enough either, if it passes 100 runs of linx plus 15+ hours of prime small FFTs, then i run it through pc mark and 3d mark, and after all that then i'd consider it 24/7 usable at about 50-100Mhz lower than that. this mobo/cpu/ram is warrantied (through shop) to run at 4.2, seems stable at that so i plan to run it at 4.1, maybe even 4.0.

yeah i remember when we started testing togheter the 9650's same mobo, same mem, lol that was fun, we used to count SPI runs on msn  now he became a master of stabilty on those chips, i got old on P45 now you guys helped me hope i can join you here
sometimes takes a long way to have a good chip, but now you guy are rockin'
regards for both
Sergio
Low gflops there is because he has HT enabled. HT lowers gflops by about 1/3 to 2/5 when enabled on i7.

Very nice Mr gondezz!
its getting harder and harder resisting buying one of these little boards!
questions - any h/w mods to your board? dropping the cpu multi way down (say something like 16 or 17x) what is your max bclock?
Thank you Mr. Steve :)
This mini-board is really great.
The board is stock, no mod. Max BCLK of this CPU is 248 (suicide) at 1.29 VTT.
Batch is L004C090.
Tested 10 pcs of same batch, 6 pcs can do validation above 5G, all with 2C 4T and 1.55 Vcore. The rest did almost 5G too.
This batch tends to reach high CPU clock, but low BCLK. One chip I tested maxed at 251 BCLK with 1,29 VTT. Previously, I had a 530 LinX stable at 245 BCLK and 4900 QPI with 1.27 VTT on the same board.
Wow - excellent work!
Amazing for ~100$ board/100$ proc!
if i take the plunge i'll probably spring for a 655k for the unlocked multi and put it under cascade
pushing some more on the H55N USB3. . .
