Definitely, but it's more realistic since most of the people of buy this card wont OC, don't you agree? ;)
*btw, try not to quote pictures :)
so the powerplay issue is just a driver thing right?
& regarding bottlenecks, would you be able to feel the performance boost at non-OCed settings?
ATI HD4870 & HD4850 Crossfire Performance Review @Hardwarecanucks
http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/forum...ce-review.html
There's a typo there in their review.
"Considering the price of a HD4870 is now in the realm of $260 and a pair of them will run you a shade over $620, there was a short time when you could get a pair of these cards for less than a single Nvidia GTX 260."
Should be $520. This is on page 2

HEY! "A final silicon at last: The Radeon HD 4870 X2 is ready. When asked, AMD told us that they made minor adjustments to the ASIC respectively the power consumption during the past weeks. A new driver is the cherry on the cake."

What’s so great about the TOP line-up from ASUS is that they don’t get a card and just add an extra 10MHz to the core and 20MHz to the memory, the TOP line-up of cards are really well overclocked cards that stand out from the competition.
Gaming at Beyond Full HD Resolutions Finally Made Affordable? - Force 3D Radeon HD 4870 Vs. Nvidia GeForce GTX 260 Review

It has been a traditional assumption that the monitor and system case should be priced comparably. However, the arrival of expensive processors and graphics accelerators made this statement very doubtful. Today we are going to check how well 300-dollar graphics cards can perform in video games in 2560x1600 resolution. We will test Force 3D Radeon HD 4870 and Nvidia GeForce GTX 260.

Palit has increased its Sonic line-up with the launch of Radeon HD 4870 Sonic Dual Edition video card. This card has several interesting features like Dual-BIOS (where the video card has two BIOS; if the user accidentally damages one of them during overclocking the card will continue working using the other BIOS) and Smart Switch. This Palit card works in two modes: standard mode (core clock of 750 MHz and memory clock of 3,800 MHz DDR) or overclocking mode (core clock of 775 MHz and memory clock of 4,000 MHz DDR). Users can easily switch between standard mode and overclocking mode by pressing a little switch found on video card’s rear panel. Palit Radeon HD 4870 Sonic Dual Edition has 512 MB GDDR5 and uses a cooler featuring three heatpipes and two fans, an 80 mm in charge of cooling the GPU and the memory chips, and other 70 mm in charge of cooling the VRM. No word about price and availability.
