This ram is teh awesome!
nice
better than some e8400s lol
hellpp me
why my ballistix tracer can't get 1200 with cl 4-4-4-12 :(....i even give it max vdimm in my board....somehow its hard to enter windows..
is it my ram is already damaged ??
thx
i used double sided Gen, :) i have 2x1gb 8500 ballistix tracer...
cause i can get no satisfied with cl4 so i tried cl3, here you go..
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=356364
with 2.95 vdimm...:)
haha, crazy enough huh :D, agreed to the people that said "god bless the ballistix" :D
for cl5, this what i can get meanwhile
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=356825
with vdimm 2.49
thx Don_Dan :) the revision is 16FD3...
yup, i know 2.95 vdimm maybe can sre* this sticks up, it's always a first time...
with dfi lp lt x38 only have max vdimm 2.95 thats why i stop, perhaps if i can get higher freq i'll pushed it further.... :yepp:
here the ss..

Hell Yeah,515 3-3-3-8, 675 4-4-4-15.Voltage is the max that could be given through BIOS,and that is 3.0v.On my Lanparty LT P35-T2R.
see if you can run pi at that speed, alex. Also, what does memtest report for bandwidth at those timings?
Either way, that's a great result! My board only goes up to 2.55 vDimm, and no NB vCore adjustment.
What did you set nb vCore to?
My RMA just got back to me today. I sent off 2x1Gb 8000's and 2x1Gb Tracer 8500's, both old double sided D9 kits, which until they died, worked well as a 4Gb kit at 4-4-4-12 1000+.
What I got back: A double sided set of 8500's, and a single sided set of Tracer 8500's. :( I'm just about to put 'em in, but I know it's not going to work how I'd hoped.
Just RMA'ed my second kit of 8500's and they said they are sending me single sided... we'll see how they fair but I am already very tired of how often these things die, might just put them up for sale as soon as I get them.
Ive just put all 4 sticks in together, and already it's not looking too promising. I finally got a boot at 5-5-5-15 @ 945, 2.1v.
lol i havent pushed my ballistix past 2.24 yet
i can do 1200+ with 2.03v:D
Well, im posting again because one of my sticks just died on me. I was running them at 1028mhz, at 2.15v. The system gave a pinstriped output on the screens, and stopped responding. I hard rebooted, and it refused to post. Long story short, I got 1 stick to work in slot #1, then tried adding sticks into slot 3. 1 stick failed, and the other two worked fine. So I guess Ill be doing another RMA. This will make the third set I have had to RMA. Im with the guy who posted a little way back.. I might just sell the sets as soon as I get whatever I get back. Im tired of RMAing parts every couple months.
finallly ! after i switch my board into DFI LP LT X48, my sticks can easyly trough 1200 CL 4 with 2.6V, :D but in again i try pushed it harder into 1240 CL4 and went stabil on 2.73V with SPI 1mb..
heres the SS

the validate http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=361200
thinks my ram gone stupid but it's still rocks ! :D damm i loved my sticks !:D
Very nice  Congrats on the 1200mhz cas4. Scary vdimm though :D
Ballistix pc8500, double-side, no clip rev.
SPI 32M@600 4-4-4-4
Vmem 2,52V bios set
Really nice ram, not so good at cas5, but fantastic at cas4
http://www.pctunerup.com/up/results/...01150314_1.jpg
They go very well on Cas 5,but there is a lot to tweak in the Dfi board to be able to:
710 mhz 5-5-5-15 Validation:
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=341992
And of course they go very, very good with CAS 4 too :)
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&d=1207688552
and my sig too ;)
Nice Monstru, vdimm ?
Hey loc.o done playing with your sticks :) ?
SPi 2.8v, Valid 3v, normal air cooling.
wow  I am impressed with all the adventurous folks pumping crazy amounts of voltage into the D9s. I actually have 4 x 1gb of the double sided (older) D9GMH PC2-8500 sticks that were able to do 5-5-5-15 1240mhz with 2.15v, but they aren't being used now. This thread has sparked my interest and I may do some suicide runs. Sad thing is, that I don't want to get single sided garbage from crucial in return.
Probably the best DDR2 ever made. Pay attention not to kill them, it would be a pity to kill such good ram, as, of course, they don't make them like they used to :)
those are my thoughts exactly. currently i am running Mushkin Redlines 2x2 so the ballistix are on the shelf.
funny thing is that I have some Team Xtreem Ram 4 x 1gb (D9GMH) that clock as high as the ballistix, but have better, read, write, and latency times. Too much ram laying around, need more systems. :)
question for the elite overclockers here....how many runs at xtreme voltages can you do before your ram starts to tell you that you need to make funeral arrangements?
It depends,no one can tell you for sure.
Old Team Xtreem's also clock very good ;)
I'm about to buy Ballistix 8500 from an ebayer, I've already asked if it is double or single sided ram, and he send me the part number saying it is a double sided kit. Is there a way to figure out if its really double sided just with the pn?
I can tell you that I've never run mine past 2.2v and I'll be going through my third RMA soon enough, crucial.
You should be able to tell if it is double/single sided with the PN, find it out
I received my single sided 8500's from my RMA, they worked at stock, overclocked a bit but nothing special especially with my IP35 pro's crappy dividers. I was busy for a couple days and came back and now my computer is completely unstable, from my testing one of the sticks are already dying, WTF. I'm done with crucial.
conroe? wolfdale? :stick: :D
That was OT. To make up for it, I finally broke 11 sec in Pi 1M!! :rocker:

Few days ago I made my brother who lives in the USA buy me 2 pair of these :
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-CRUCIAL-BALL...QQcmdZViewItem
16FD5 should be great , right ?! :p:
I paid 94$ for the 4x1GB sticks , is that good ?
I had a set of Tracers die, really fast for 9 months. They died shortly after lowering voltage a notch. Funny thing was the light show was still working, even reacting to Alt+Ctrl+Del during post.
Awesome numbers
This is the best that I can do :(
Anyone know where I can get some dual sideds? Or sticks that can do nearly as well? Something like 1200 @ 2.1v or 1200c4 @ 2.4v or so?
i have a set of patriot DDR2 800 at 1200 MHz @ 5-5-5-15
this kit actually http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16820220071
Thanks Sam. Pm'd him last night :)
Volts Stangracing?
1.8
anybody can tell me the perfect PL that can match if it running about 620 640 cl4 ?
soon there will be a reguler OC competition in my town, and i'm thingking to bring my sticks into setup :D
what is the best vdimm if you bench it around 5-6 hours with bandwith 1150-1280 Cl4, one of my friend ussualy gave 2.8V to his team extreem, to give an ultimate stabilize :D, but with my sticks can it go lower ? thx..
Nobody have tracers 800mhz to discuss overclock, voltages etc? :(
Wow...
but you are using some cooler in the memos?
2.35v its much to use without any cooler on the tracers
i just bought another set pc2-6400 16fd5 to add to my collection
i couldnt resist 40$ lol
i bet they do 1220+ @ 2.03v:D i'll post results when i get em
dont be pumpin 2.3v+ unless you got reverves lol
i only pump 2.3+ into d9gkx
update : pc6400 16fd5 need 2.35v to get to 1200mhz not even close to big brother pc2-8500 wich needs 2.03v
and only 980mhz on cas 4:( 2.3v
I would like to ask if its normal that my ballistix need 2.14v to run @ 1066 5-5-5-15 (400strap) to pass memtest+ without errors. I have pushed them till 1133Mhz@2.1v but havent run metest at that speed.
2.14v isn't very much. Some modules are just not binned as well, so I'd say its not abnormal at all.
Thank yoiu for the quick answer. I was just worried cause i see speeds like 1200+ @ 2.2v (maybe not memtest error free) posted and i was worried of possible defective modules.
1200 to reach u will need some decent volts, unless u got nice modules.
just make sure u got them cooled Properly
my ballistix 8500 tracers 2.4v not maxed yet at all
http://img300.imageshack.us/my.php?i...kmaxhttgi5.jpg
after 6 months @1200+ i decided to run memtest but this i reduced volts lol
2.02 @ 1220mhz:D 2.7 passes lol in memtest
i just bought another set  16fd3
1240mhz 2.02v:D
I got a kit of 16FD5 8500s off ebay but they don't seem to like 1200 with any voltage on my Striker Extreme. I tried as low as 2.02 and as high as 2.35.
Guys, got me a pair of standard Ballistix 6400 with D9GMH, batch CL11181.D3 anyone had similar or same kit and can tell me what to expect?
Tnx.
Bah, if I set the VDIMM in the BIOS to anything less than 2.10V my P5B Deluxe won't even boot. I don't know how people are getting 600MHz with anything less than 2.2V. Oh well, at least my aXeRAM will run at that speed...but that's its stock settings. Pretty boring. What kind of northbridge voltages are you guys running who can get DDR2-1200 at such low VDIMM?
Are 16fd3 good ones? Sorry for the noob question but I have two pairs of Ballistix PC8500 and one is 16fd3. I'll take a look at the second kit tonight.
Thanks zsamz_
I haven't oc'ed my mempries yet (just my quad), but how much can I expect considering that I'll use only bios, not Windows to change the settings (I'm a noob :p:).
EDIT: All my 4 modules are 16fd3. Let's see what I can do with them with no extra cooling.
I have just got a set of older second hand 2x1GB PC5300 CL3 "16FD2"
Are these supose to be pretty good?
I know the 16FD3 were supposed to be the GMH so maybe... what came before that ->?GKX? ... but I doubt that(not sure) -= - only one way to be sure :D;) DO IT:clap::up:
I took stock of a Maximus Formula yesterday that I promptly flashed into a Rampage, and my Ballistix 8500 kit passed memtest at DDR2-1200 with VDIMM set to 2.2V in the BIOS. Are these newer chipsets better at running D9 at higher clocks with less voltage, or do they just overvolt by a LOT?
Asus boards do tend to overvolt ram, anywhere from 0.02v to 0.1v. Unless you measure it with a DMM, you have to go by software. What does asus probe say your vdimm is? If I were you I'd lower the voltage to between 1.9 and 2v in bios and keep testing. If it fails, bump it up a notch etc. Just be aware that 2v+ has killed many a D9 stick though, despite their 'rated' voltage.
I"m back running on stock speeds due to the heat. I have VDIMM set to 2.16 in the BIOS but Everest reads 2.26V
Well yeah, I was referring to the DFIs in your sig. Being able to run Ballistix at DDR2-1240 with only 2.02 VDIMM real is pretty impressive. I'm a bit leery of DMM after I killed my P5K-E/Wifi and a Dominator 6400C3 kit trying to measure VDIMM, although that was due to inexperience. I found a fairly comprehensive guide to using a DMM with a motherboard only days later :doh::horse:
Has anyone tried the new 2.0v revision tracers yet-BLKIT12864AA106A?
I have a pair of crappy single sided 8500 tracers,i have to run them at 800mhz or i get lots of random bsods in windows and loads of errors on memtest86.
i got 3 sets that do 1225 with 2.0v need 2.02v for 1240 2.22v for 1300:D
my dfi ut p35 gives better performance than my x38
rma them even if you get single sided back they gonna be better
maybe u get lucky n get a doublesided set
i spoke to crucial uk,they said they have no duel sided sets left. They are expecting some them new revision tracers soon,so i wondered if anyone had got a pair of them 2v spec ones.
I will rma these i guess,do you think i would be better off getting normal ballistix in exchange? i could swap mine for these-http://www.crucial.com/uk/store/part...KIT12864AA106A these are the new 2.0v spec, and i dont mind not having leds.
thanks
if they're anything like new rev 2x2GB Crucial Ballistix PC2-6400 80A ics they'll clock much better, one guy on OCAU forums got his new 80A 2x2GBb kit to 590mhz 5-5-5-15 stable
I just received my kind will get around to testing once i have the ddr2 platform setup for it
Which batch is better, FD3 or FD5?
16fd5 n 16fd3 are kinda the same but 16fd5 is better my 16fd3 got older heatspreaders needed paperclips cause they were commin off @ the sides
stay away from the 6400 stix i got a 16fd3 6400 set thats not even close to his big brother
man these sticks are just great they been doin 1200+ 24/7 n no degradation what so ever i actually reduced voltage to 2.0 after 7 months:rofl:
Yeah, I got Tracer FD3 with old heatspreaders, same problem. I just removed clips, which solved the problem. But, man, these are pretty hot, about 50C at 1.8V 800Mhz in load.:shakes: Active cooling is 100% necessery.
Dude, how many memory kits do you have? 10?
