I think there is definitely a BIOS bug in 1.2.
I can run up to 445 X 9 yet can't post 445 x 6. I might be able to get more and this system can't tame anything more than 445 x 9 1.65v @ 4.0GHz on air. Too darn much heat. I noticed when I tried 400 x 6 it was still listing my CPU as 3.6GHz in post when it should have been 2.4GHz. Wish I still had an E6300 laying about to try since its default multi is 7 x.
EDIT: Up to a 360 FSB it figures the CPU speed and FSB Multi correctly after that I get crazy results. I set 400 x 6 in the BIOS and instead of telling me I am @ 2.4 400 x 6 @ post it says I am rather attempting 3.6GHz @ 600 x 6.
Correct me if I'm wrong, but is the vmch on this mobo also tied to the PCIe voltage? Seems like you can't vary one without the other. If so, will using larger mch voltages ruin your chance at an overclock or possibly damage the video card?
Is it the same on every other 975 board?

It should be noted that I have removed the northbridge heatsink and replaced it with the thermaltake extreme spirit chipset cooler. I also removed the thermal pad under the southbridge and replaced it with ceramique. I was also benching without a case and in an airconditioned room with ambients of 24C (though you'd call that hot right Bachus? :lol:)

why Abit uses ALC882-M instead of ALC885 or ALC888 for the AudioMax module??

Hi everyone!
I am having problems running a pair of Corsair TWIN2X2048-6400C4 modules at the factory default settings on the Aw9d-max. It should run @ 800mhz and at 4-4-4-12 timings but it fails to post if i set it manually to those timings/speed. Now i am running at 800mhz (2:3) with 5-5-5-15 timings. I have the 1.2 bios installed on the mobo.
Anyone had the same problem?
I think someone was having the same issue with those modules on the max board and he even posted it in this thread but i cant find it so i would muchos apretiate it if someone would help me out with this.

highest I could get on on either 6x or 9x multiplier with an e6600 with vcore and vmch maxed was 457fsb.

Can anyone help me to reach 3,8 GHz on my rig? 3,6 GHz (9x400) don't work (I increased the voltage to 1,5V --> no way still failures in ortho). I think it must be the board, because 3,42 Ghz @ 1,32V (default) are running fine. Is the powercurrent maybe my problem?
Prime w/ orthos with Small FFts, if it doesn't fail then it could be ram causing it to fail during blend. If it still fails, increase vmch. If its the ram, increase vdimm
I dont have a floppy drive. Would the abit flash program work with the 1.3 bios posted earlier?

I do, especially for retail chips. My chip (L627 in sig) will not pass orthos @ the same 3.6ghz it did on the Asus P5W DH. I'm 3DMark stable up to 425FSB hours & hours of quake 4 & fear @ 422FSB. Super Pi 1mb @ 440FSB 9 multiplier.Quote:

Why is blend difiicult to pass? I thought blend will test CPU and RAM. Is it more difficult for the integrated memory controller in the northbridge? Small FFts just say, that my CPU is running fine and not the motherboard, am I right?

even at 2.0 vMCH BIOS the NB is just little warm
Get a fan on the NB and go 1.9 2.0 V , i have no problems running 24/7 430X9 with E6600, before the active fan on it i was pretty unstable higher than 400.
Can also run benches at 440X9 but is rather instable.
Well using here a Vapo LS on cpu but really can do 430 with like 1.46 Vcore perhaps with even less volts not tested 1.46 vcore is a joke to cold down for my vapo.
Before the fan my NB dissipator was pretty hot even at 1.6 Vmch , alll passive cooling was redone with as5.
I think who feel NB is not hot is having heat transfer problems.
Change the stock thermal pads with a good paste !
Tower 120 would block some of the NB sink if installed onto the usual position (air blowing out the "MAX" words, the PS/2 ports)Quote:

my second board came with a dead battery. Took me two days to realize it since nothing would save in the bios. It would refuse to get into windows cause it will halt on all errors even though I set it on no errors in bios.
