975XBX maybe??
Uhm... anyone had problem with your soundcard? My computer crashed, and windows would not start again today, then i flashed bios to the latest one and tryed, no luck.
Then i installed Windows XP x64, worked nice, until i installed the soundcard drivers, then the computer is stuck at the same place.
What should i do?
I've used the drivers that is on the CD that came with my MB.

it's stable if i dont install the drivers!
It was stable in safe mode to, no sound in safemode.
maybe new drivers? but why did it happen so suddnly?
I've used the computer and the onboard audio for 1-2 weeks with no problem @ all. Now running stock speed.
Not install drivers v.s disable in bios is almost the same!
no it isnt...not installing drivers will still make it get an IRQ e.g. ....
yes, i know, but it works...
were in bios do i disable the onboard soundcard?
can´t find it

1305 is fine. 1401 is better. Look back one page for the link...Quote:

Is there a working windows flashing utility that works okay on this board, or do you have to use afudos/bios ?
RTFM Springs to mind :slap:Quote:

Goto the Asus website under downloads select the MB type you have and you will find all downloads there. Its called AsusUpdate for Windows.
Just to be safe, have a boot disk with your backup bios on and make sure you bios scans the floppy drive first, or USB device if using 1.
Hm, upon cosideration I think I'll just use afudos and a floppy. Probably the safest way.
I just gotta say, yay for topboy's avatar! :D

I am try to get my Audigy 2 ZS sound card to work on this board. It just doesn't work. I have disabled the onboard audio and tried slots 1,2 and 3 without success. From posts i have read, some people have managed to do this and others not. Is there a trick to it?
My board came with Intel chipset drivers 7.2.2. I see there is a V8 out now. Has anyone tried them yet? I'm going to solve the board overheating issue by using a Cooler Master CMStacker 830 case (great excuse to get one, it's enormous).
Thanks
I've been using the latest 975X chipset drivers from Intel's site since day 1, and my Audigy 2 running the latest drivers is working perfectly.Quote:

Sorry for the lack of detail....the drivers install fine, no problems in device manager - everything looks fine but there is silence from the computer.Quote:

That's odd. All I can think to ask is if you're sure you have the speakers connected to the correct jack.Quote:

I just went from DS3 to P5W DH Dx and I have couple of questions
what is ICH chipset voltage and what should I set it to?
it's like 1.05 and 1.20
how high can I go on MCH voltage with stock heatsink?
mine goes up to 1.85v
I want to remove that heatsink cover, but.. wouldn't that void warranty?
thanks
so this top download is the newest chipset drivers for the 975x chipset? seems a little light for a chipset package..

or am I looking in the wrong place?
I've had no issues with this chip and board combo. One of the first things I did was change the multi from 11 to 12 for a 3.2 over clock. I've taken it as high as 13 and as low as 9 to play around with different settings. Using the 1305 Bios too.Quote:

Hi,
I need your help.
My computer is
Conroe 6700
ASIS P5W DH DELUXE
Seagate 250 GB (SATA connected on SATA1 with the red cable)
DVD-RW (as Master on the PRI_IDE - the blue port)
CD-ROM (as Slave on PRI_IDE - the blue port)
All is working fine till today.
Today I connected an IDE HD on JMicron IDE (PRE_EIDE - the black port) and now, after POST and the first Windows screen (this one with the logo) the computer hangs up.
The HD is set up as Master and is correct recognized by the BIOS.
After the POST, the Windows starts but after the LOGO-Screen it hangs up.
Any ideas?
Thanks in advance
Check in the BIOS to make sure that this drive is not at the top of the boot order. Perhaps, your machine is trying to boot from this drive.Quote:

How can i flash my BIOS on P5W DH Deluxe without Floppy Drive (in windows) because i don't have one???
From MB driver CD install AsusUpdate, that will let u flash bios in windows.
FDD are cheap i got 5x FDD for US$17 2nd hand hehe
flashing in dos much safe than windows
your choice grab a FDD for a few bucks or screw up a motherboard :D
FDD may be cheap but imo the disks are slow, fragile and unreliable, I use a thumbdrive instead.
I got a USB floppy so I can use it when I need to.. works great for the occational bios flash . . . for any of my machines. :)
So, question for you all: when you started with OCing, did you set your FSB termination and MCH Chipset voltage to 1.50 (the highest available value) ??
No mate i got my MCH runinng on Auto and doing FSB400 now stable ;) I guess it depends on the mobo.. but till about 360FSB all auto should be just fine.Quote:

5 conroe boards from Asus - A Top To Bottom Comparison : http://www.gamepc.com/labs/view_cont...ookie%5Ftest=1
:)
Was running my new P5W (first two died, 2nd one mysteriously), testing my various memory to see if it performs better on this board (all but one stick did--my old board was crap with memory clocking).
So I go to push that one lame-duck stick (worst clocking of the 5 sticks I have too....), 470 4-4-4-8 is its usual 1M max, which it does fine. I push to 471 and run again....~6th instance it freezes (notice the freeze, not the typical error--and it didn't hard-off after a few seconds like a CPU error usually does), and this was ~450MHz short of my CPU's max 1M speed....system never comes back up, giving memory error post code (1 long, 3 short) with any of my 5 sticks of memory, in any of the slots. Tried a battery pull, still didn't come up after with the same testing techniques....:(
Anybody got a fix for a fubard board?
Hi guys/gals...
Could some kind soul host the 1401 bios for XS??
I am having issues trying to download it from one of the links provided here...
Just wondering, is there an issue with that bios & Asus have banned it??
Every time I try to open that page for bos d/load, I just get an error..
Any help appreciated...
P5W BIOS 1401
this is being hosted on my free angelfire account lol
have fun
Hiyas...
Ummm.. when I click on that link, it gives me a "do not direct link" response??
nvm... copy/paste trick works with it at least... Unlike the other one that was posted around the web...
Thanks again everyone for the quick responses!!
Well my P5W DH mysteriously desided to die/not work anymore today whilst running @ default everything after doing a reinstall of XP Pro
I am tossing up whether to try out the P5B Dlx ???
Look here. <lots of BIOS'sQuote:

Again my BRAND New motherboard is in and NO POST. the bios is 0801 and i have a feeling this one can be fixed but i feel i tried it all ie. clear CMOS
what else has worked for you guys that has had this same problem
If anyone tries to watercool on this mobo, a whitewater block wont fit. Its too wide and hits the capacitors near the cpu socket. I had to find out the hard way. Anyone want to trade a ww le for a apogee or something similar? I gotta get a new block and wait even longer now to get my computer up and running.
So far I havent been able to figure out what it changes nor have I seen anyone post what it changes.Quote:

This wouldnt be confusing at all if USB devices didnt work in the bios.... But they DO!
I hate to sound like a raving lunatic, but Im desperately searching for a fix for this issue. Ive tried everything that seems obvious to me... Everything is at stock right now and default bios settings... This is my first intel build and its been a total gong show so far...
edit: setting it to enable only 4 USB devices makes my back USB ports work, but neither of the headers, and not my integrated wi-fi.... Does anyone have a better fix for this?
hi everyone... having same problems since i installed my rig basically here's my stuff
(NOOB HERE)
lol
Mainboard P5W DH Deluxe
CPU INTEL Core2 Duo E6600 (2.4GHz)
Power Supply CoolerMaster iGreen Power 600W Sli
Graphics Card Asus EN7600GT
Optical Drive LG GSA-H10N
Memory F2-5400PHU2-2GBLA (run memtest there no error)
Hard Drive 320GB SATA 3.0Gbp/s Seagate 7200.10 hardisk
OS Windows XP Pro sp2
Bios 1305 (flash my new bios windows based)
after installing windows, try all the USB.. all was workable. after 2 boots thereafter.. onlt 4 out 8 of my USB ports can be used n all this 4are at the I/o ports . help me pls.....
can any of u guys recommend me on how to solve my USB ports problems.. is it due to a bug or something?
THANKSS...
REGARDS...
mine is worst cant detect in bios n windows...
HR-05 cannot fit on the NB of this board but does fit the SB.
The only 4 that work for me are the rear panel ones as well. I also can't find a way to get the integrated wi-fi to work with half of my USB ports disabled... It appears to simply be installed over a USB header, so I guess that's why it doesn't work. If someone has a workaround for this, that'd be great.

I read the complete release notes, and there does not appear to be anything significantly changed to warrant using it vs the drivers on the ASUS supplied CD.

cripes!! the power down after setting overclock bios settings is not working. I keep getting failed oc after I pass 450 when the pc doesn't shut down. Hope fully its something I'm missing. Time for some Pi comparisons @ 9X400 vs 8 X 450:D
Wow...450x8...
I wonder if my OCZ Plat 6400 REV. 2 stuff will do 450. Are you guys @ 1:1?
Results people! :) Do some Pi tests! I'm stuck at work right now.
Yes, I think it does. This is pretty major (gettin multi's on the P5W). Somebody wanna start one after we get some more testing?Quote:

Out of the box, a mobo temp of ~50C is quite normal for this board. Read the following thread for some tips on how to get that temp down a bit:Quote:

Nope, the only thing asus need to fix this is add tRFC into memory timings options. Once they give us that, it'll be sorted... cmon asus please put tRFC in bios :(Quote:

i dunno if anyone else is having problems with AIBooster acting sluggish and freezing. I've tried a few various bioses, (using 1201 atm) but no luck. I've formatted and reinstalled xp, but no success in fixing it.
Any ideas?
BTW, i havn't got my E6400 yet, i'm using my P4 640. But i don't think that would cause any issues, would it?
Thanks
it's always like that, very buggy software
all asus software is very unresponsive for me
I had no problems with AIBooster when i had my P5WD2 Premium, but it's almost unusable on my P5W DH Deluxe. I know the software isn't very useful in most aspects, i only use it for voltage control while i'm in windows, so i can use clockgen and setfsb te adjust the FSB (Before anyone calls me a n00b, i set the major settings in the bios first). When i click the link to open the tuning panel it gradually fades in, and is very laggy while i'm attempting to use it, and it completely freezes up as i'm adjusting anything, before i can even click apply.
I just wandered if anyone knew what was causing it, because i've seen a few people in this thread being able to use it.
Thanks lawrywild
Is the DOA usual with this motherboard? I have a ne board got it last week. But it whont start. The fans just spins a bit then it's dead again (milli sec). Have to push the powersupply on - off to be able to do the same thing again.
The PSU is okey, since I tryid it just before plugging al the components.
So ither it's the CPU, Memory or the motherboard. DOA or bad bios, I don't know...
The bios chip says:
WDH0C
1001
803A
F8 03
Thanks!
I think that problem is dependent on your RAM - I have been able to set RAM timings and hit 400+FSB on both my P5Ws (67MOAG and 68 MOAG), using 1305 BIOS.Quote:

I stopped doing any serious overclocking with it. Its way too buggy. 450 x 8 also required more vcore than 400 X 9. I'm sure its the whole boot strap thing and the tighter timinngs this board uses. If I were to invest in some DDR 1000 I'm sure I'd be more successful.Quote:
