I'm looking to buy an Opteron with the next few days. Would it best to try my luck with Monarch (retail or OEM) or ZZF (currently have the 144's at $165). All I want is a processor that will do 2.85 - 2.9 GHZ stable on AIR.
deception``
so overall how stepping are in line?
BEST-WORST
1.CABNE
2.CABYE
3.X?
etc...
1. CABNEQuote:

* CAB2E is known right now.
you mean CAB2E is unkown so far ;)
I think:
-CABNE from 0526 to 0536
-CABNE 0540 and CABYE 0540, they are similiar
-CABYE b4 0540
-CABGE
;)
So, ZZF does have the 144 retail. :woot: Anybody want to jump in and see what they are? ;)Quote:

I didn't see any CABNE 0540 OK @ 3 ghz under 1.65v whereas CABYE 0540 are able to be stable @ 3 ghz with less or equal to 1.65V.
CABNE 0528 and 0530 appear to be okay at 3ghz by what I've seen with little exceptions. Don't know about CABNE 0540.Quote:

I suppose by the time I cancel my order and they refund me ZZF's will be history so I will sit tight I guess.

Just running my CAB2E 0540FPMW right now, and I can't hit 3 Ghz on water. :(
Will do 2.8 Ghz on default volts
2.9 Ghz on 1.50v (BIOS)
My 144 CABNE 0540 is stable at 335x9=3014Mhz with 1.648V, water cooling and IHS removed.Quote:

Ill report back on how it goes under my prommy. Is there a cold bug with these chips?
Certain chips have had some problems, however those were few and far between others which had no cold bug.Quote:
