I do not know that, really....
If the multiplier is adjusted after the fsb:
a.) That would not be difficult to fix.
b.) I won't be able to post past 195Mhz FSB (2.758 limit 14x stock multi).
However,
perhaps you are right, but it's always the 12x multi. 'cause I can't always post at 228MHz or higher, yet below that is fine.
228*12=2736
Very close to my chip's max - and usually a lil harder to boot then 1M-PI anyways.
But who could fix that? :O Im just mad for this P4C800-E Deluxe cause it won't accept any memories to go full speed! That's just not nice... Im quite sure that my PQI 2gb set has potential to go much better but not with this mobo. :(
yes, i would like a BIOS wher that would be fixed :) ASUS, do you hear us? :D
Im quite sure they don't actually care! :D
I have a P4C800-ED with a PM740 that boots at 260ish MHZ FSB @ 10 Multi @ 1.6vcore (bios). Stock heatsink.
It works fine if you know what you're doing. I found the main problems with high FSB on this MB is related to two things:
a) transition from cold boot low vcore (something like default 1.3 volts) to set vcore of 1.x but after the multi has been applied which limits your max cpu boot speed
b) ram timings are set fairly agressive depending on your FSB:RAM ratio and SPD readings.
I have cheap DDR400 value ram @ 2.5-3-3-8. Very little headroom for OC. Maybe DDR420 max at those settings. If I drop the FSB:RAM ratio, and get DDR333, the times tighten up automatically in the BIOS and limits my max FSB in windows.
Loosen your ram timings in the BIOS -> 3-3-3-8, then see if you can boot higher.
You can then test your max FSB vs Timing in windows with EIST and TW865. I now boot at 220 FSB x 10 multi and crank my FSB to 280+! Now if I can have RAM to match it 1:1 then I'll be set.
Current Max stable core is 2820 MHZ. Just got a Zalman Alcu 7700 and will see if I can get it to 2900 on air 3d stable.
Well i have tryed everything but it just won't boot over 225FSB. Sometimes it might boot at 226, but not always. It really seems to be that it first set FSB and then Multi. An it actually makes sence. 12*225=2700 and this will go about 2600 for little benchmarking. Maybe i could wait picture in post at 2700MHz.
For me better cooling didn't give any better clocks. Its just colder now. But 2800 it's cool with aircoolin still! Im waiting pretested 740 going 2600MHz with stock voltages. Hoping that will reach 2800MHz! ;)
But this motherboard multiplier/FSB problem is from deep... Im just wondering is there any point to buy P4GPL-X. It's cheaper than this mobo, so i wouldn't even lose money.
mine won't boot above 235fsb :( , and it certainly isn't nice booting above 230! errors, crashes etc etc.Quote:

my mates wouldnt boot above 235 just like mine but boots @ 249 with 400fsb jumpers.
I've tried it myself, but when i press the on button, it starts up, then shuts down after about a second :(
hopefully, if i get a p4gd1 from saaya, i'll be able to boot higher...
ln²is fun!!!

normaly we would have a X800 that goes incredibly fast but it was unavaileble yesterday.
tnx, with some playing with the memory and the cpu i think 3950-4000 mhz is possible;)

nice scores there mayk-freak.
I might be getting a p4p800se if i can't find a new p4c800-e dlx.
ever tried running 4:5 divider on ram? any performance increases?
is there a way to enable PAT over 200 fsb?
Cheers
Well guys, been reading some posts in this thread, I don't have time to read all 89 pages x) But im thinking of buying a dothan P4C800-E Deluxe and the adapter. Is there anything special I should think of? Will be running with x850xt and 2x BH-5 and a DDR booster. My biggest issue is the money.
735 : 247$ US
740 : 251$
745: 293$
750: 297$
Dont want to spend anymore then 297$ on the CPU, and I know its impossible to tell how good / bad a CPU clocks as its from CPU to CPU. But are there any of these who are particulary good in OC? Anyone of them that are known as good / bad overclockers? I cant stand a bad OC anymore :stick:
the 740/750 is always gonna be best.
I paid the extra for my 750, but i got it cheap OEM on ebay.
it does 2.7 benchable, but who knows how well the 740 i could have got would have clocked..
PAT will not enable fully over 200FSB on boot. You can boot at 199MHz with DDR266 (1:1) to get PAT enabled and locks enabled so you can clock upwards.Quote:

Yeah, but at 200 you get no locks. So 199 and up with CG.Quote:

Well then im pretty lucky, got 1 512mb BH-5 oldschool x)Quote:

I've got the same problem...I got 2x512mb sticks of shiny Geil One BH, and with the DDR booster regardless of voltage it is not stable at 228, and won't do crap over 230 :brick: Lol, my 730 is so wierd, as its favorite settings are 250x10 with a 4:3 devider...kind of an oximoron :p:Quote:
