Are you guys using AHCI or IDE?
AHCI is better tho from what i have read, if you want to use the esata i believe you have to use ahci.
anyone here try 4850 + 4870

Many folks have had trouble ocing with 3x2GB, at least you now have a procedure that works.
Try not to use auto settings - you want to set these values - not leave them up to the bios to estimate for you what is best that way you KNOW what the values are.
Uncore looks nice and low for ocing - is this 2x memory plus one click up?
Do you get better oc results turning off eist, c1e, c3, ... many folks have found they can oc higher if they turn all this off - the downside is your idle temps are usually a bit higher particularly at much higher cpu volts.
After you get your oc stable with 3gb and add back in the other 6 can you then adjust back down your timings?
If you have xmp capable memory try runing just that xmp memory, turn on xmp and see what ET6 says your voltages are at - this gives you an idea of what mem and qpi volts the memory manufacturer wants you to run when at xmp speeds.
All your voltages are nice and low - should help you keep your cpu nice and cool!
Downside is increased oc at these voltages can be had only by a very few i7s. , certainly not mine.
has any one done a Sata to raid comparison to see if 3dmark cpu score increases or decreases?
Really?? mine goes pretty fast I thought... faster than my raid card initialization and I have two disks and one ssd on the AHCI controller... I guess it's a pretty subjective experience tho.
EDIT: btw, my ssd works fine on the AHCI controller... but it's a game only storage device.. so it doesn't get hammered with write requests...
All of my devices are SATA. Would there be a benefit to switching to AHCI?
Hi , i have ordered the extreme version of this board , does anyone know if any other water cooling blocks will fit the northbridge as i didnt want to restrict the flow and they are 3/8 i think
I am using the xtreme with the liquid cooling system the it comes with. I have installed the silent pipes to help keep the temps down. with a fan on the silent pipes i would have to say it helps more than the liquid cooling. I do have a small fan blowing across the pipes as well.
managed to get the timings even tighter down to 7-7-7-18 which is what the gskill kit i bought is supposed to be but i didnt expect it to run that tight with this much of an overclock, definatly happy with it http://c1.ac-images.myspacecdn.com/i...b296a51ff4.jpg
Hellow folks,
I have bought the gigabyte x58 UD5. Now i want to use the PCI-1x slot from above for my physx card. With stock sink it doesnt fitt. It isn`t possible to use any of the pci-e 1x cards on that white slot. So i want to buying the MIPS GIGABYTE EX58 Extreme Triple chip POM for that board. If i use that WC sinks, is it than possible to use that white pci-express 1 speed slot with longer cards? I have check already one foto. If i looking very good in won`t fitt about 2mm. Or doesnt i looking good enough.
Someone has a picture with the MIPS GIGABYTE EX58 Extreme Triple chip POM sink with one pcie card in the first slot?
The top PCIe slot is usable if you simply pop the top off the heatsink. I did this then put a piece of scotch tape on both sides of a tuner card(to ensure no shorts) and it dropped right in that slot. Your card has to fit in the heatsink groove though so if it's components protrude too much it obviously won't work.
hmmm...this is kind of warped.
And does it fitt with that waterblock?
May I ask, where I can get those new BIOS Versions, because on Gigabyte I can only find the F4 BIOS marked as newest.

Are you talkin' to ME!?! Are YOU TALKIN' TO ME?!? Sorry movie moment there...
You mean the CPU block? I don't git it.
