I too wish there was a way in the BIOS to set the fan speeds to 100%. IDCC is the only way I have found to do it but it won't work in vista. Fanspeed does nothing for me in vista. I set the speeds to 100% but the fans don't do anything. I would love a way to control the fanspeeds whether it be through the BIOS or in vista...
No I don't work for Intel. I just happen to have some spare time to pursue the issue.Quote:

IDCC should work on Vista-32 if you run the installer in xp compatability mode, then set compatability mode on the executable after it's installed.Quote:

Hm, that also doesnt work for me.
Ive Installed the IDCC on Windows 2003 (IA32) - crashes when i try to run it.
Ive read about the XP-compatability mode, doesnt work either.
Im kinda pissed off, everyone said the Intel-Boards were so super-great and now nothing works - no IDCC, cant disable C1E - the Fanspeed-Control is not able to set the RPM to 50% or less (which my old Asus P5AD2E could do) and the Sigmatel-Audio stutters in Ghost Recon Advanced Warfighter.
Intel TAT installs but when i try to run it it just wont do anything at all.
By the way, is it right to assume that the D975XBX2 is inofficially capable of FSB 1333?
Since it does have the 333 strap it should be, right?
Im getting DDR2-667 DIMMs next week, so id like to use the FSB 1333.
But stability is really important to me, does OCing the FSB also overclock the PCIe-link and the Southbridge?
Ive heard that is decoupled now, but im not sure since my P5AD2E (925XE) did have dividers, and if you set it to slightly below 266 it wouldnt recognize the hard drives anymore, because it used a new divider starting at 266MHz.
Nonetheless, i do hope you can achieve that they change the C1E-Bug in a new BIOS :)
CPU Temp Question:
Just fired up my new rig for the first time. I'm in the BIOS and just wanted to monitor the CPU temp for a bit before proceeding. I want to ensure I don't need to make any modifications to the 9700 Zalman cooler I have on it before I go any further.
BIOS CPU Temps after 10 minutes with CPU, memory, etc. ALL at default speeds. e6600 CPU:
Processor Temp: 38C
Internal Temp: 32C
Remote Temp: 31C
Is this acceptable, good, bad, normal, or ???
Thanks.

looks normal, depending on ambient.Quote:

Didn't know you were running WS2003. You're correct about IDCC and TAT but Speedfan 4.32 beta 17 works fine on WS2003. I'm playing with the speeds right now. I've got my 2000rpm fan down to 600rpm.Quote:

Well, Everest ULTIMATE has the best all around support for the board butQuote:

Latest Everest (you need 2007 build 879 or greater) Just unzip...

IDCC 2.2.0002 definitely works in Vista32
Run both the install and application as an administrator and in XPSP2 compat mode and it works fine... in fact better than XP for me ;)

I was on a quest to get a custom screen on my G15 keyboard that had the info that I needed to see w/o the glitz.
I wanted: Voltages (VCore, 12, 5, and 3.3) Both core temps and the GPU temp. (threw in an analog clock for grins)
I used LCD Studio 2.0, Speedfan 4.32 build 17, and ATITool 0.26 and got what I wanted.
What all that unrelated stuff leads up to is that:
1) Speedfan comes close to TAT (within 1 degree) with temps on both cores.
2) ATI Tool gets the temps on the 8800s pretty well.
3) Without spending buku bucks I still have to load and run several tools to get the info I want on my G15 LCD :( but what the heck...
So ultimately how serious is the C1E issue for serious longterm overclocking? Seems rather concerning. Now that my Asus lost its cold boot issue with the lower FSB, I am not as quick to jump ship, though I still like the idea of the Intel for a few other reasons. However, the C1E issue is making me second guess (on replacing the one my tuniq backplate fried  ). If it is something that will obviously be cleared in a soon-to-be released BIOS, then it's no biggie. But if it's a nagging problem that doesn't get resolved...
edit: or is it EIST bug? meh...acronyms.
Does this waterblock fit the xbx2 NB? Says it fits "badaxe motherboards" in the write-up but the slots seem in the wrong place for xbx2...

I am getting low scores in AquaMark3..I have a Evga 8800GTX..I saw a fix somewhere and can't locate it.
Thanks
the manual states if you shut the fan control off in teh bios that it will run at 100%.Quote:

ALSO- WATCHDOG has to be off. It screws up overclocking (you get to the watchdog function but changing the bios jumper to get in. Change the watchdog and shut down after the save. Replace the jumper to normal positionn)
Hope this helps, Stan
It blue screened my machine....Quote:

At 100% they are still pretty silent but give me an additional 3C of cooling and with my machine now running 10C hotter in vista than in xp i really need those 3C back. IDCC blue screens my machine, fanspeed does not do anything for me so I'm stuck until Intel updates IDCC.Quote:

after searching this thread, i then check the stick guide (duh, should have check this first)...Quote:

with it enabled, how quick is it to know when the cpu is under load? is there any lag while playing games, etc??
thanks :)
