donmarkoni Thanks for letting us know that BIOS 0009 is good to use and safe. But if you can, would you please tell us what are the extra BIOS features that do not appear in the other ones like 0901 for example.
(Note: 2D Booster does appear in other BIOS's and is not useful to me. This system for gaming).
hello guys,
I have a fantastic R3E + i7 980X.
I want to buy a decent ram kit. Can you please suggest me what is better between Corsair GT 1866 C7 and Corsair GT 2000 C8?
Or any others ram suggestions....
Thank a lot !!!
Here is an updated BIOS (0009) template:
@Ghostleader: please update OP with it and add BIOS 0009.

Wow !
UCLK Frequency [4009]
QPI Link Data Rate [7218]
So QPI now goes up as high as 7218 MT/s from a previous max of 6400 MT/s
and UCLK also up to 4009 MHz from previous max of 3466 MHz.
Are these the maximum values donmarkoni ?
EDIT : My mistake ! UCLK Frequency is not limited to 3466 MHz on other BIOS versions. If you scroll down there are much higher values reaching in the five thousands.
I have in fact now flashed to BIOS 0009. QPI Link Data Rate of [7218] is not selectable by default at least. (I guess this is the result of an overclocking session).
So in fact the only real new settings are for example:
MPS and ACPI MADT ordering [Modern]
C1 Auto Demotion [Enabled]
C3 Auto Demotion [Enabled]
and possibly some other minor ones in the other menus. Don't know if this BIOS offers any significant advantage over the others.
thanks for replies.
And what you think about G.Skill DDR3 PC3-16000 Enhanced Performance PI Series ??
Thanks
just remember cas6 is where you wanna be
either get hyper chips that are getting hard to find or get cas6 ram dont waste $ on 2000mhz stuff;) odds are the 1600mhz stuff will do 2000mhz cas6-7
i have 24gb of hypers and i just bought mushkin ridgebacks 1600 6-8-6 to play with i couldnt resist the 150$ pricetag
the pc3-16000 is overpriced in my book ;)
Mushkin Enhanced Ridgeback DDR3 1600 running at 6-8-6-24 1T here!
What is the difference in ridgeback and redline?
just got my dom GT(2k, 8-9-8-24)..any idea on cpu/vtt to reach 4k uncore with these beast..?
Can anyone tell me a safe OC settings for this board with 980x and 2x gtx480s for every day use. (stable)
And what programs do you recomend to Stress Test it.
Currently runing at stock CPU and RAM at XMP settings 2000mhz.

Asus R3e (0901 bios)
EVGA GTX480 hydro x2
Crucial RealSSD 256mb SATA3 HDD + WD 1tb caviar black
Turbocool 1200w PSU (pc power&cooling)
waterblocks: Apogee XT ( replacing with EK HF all nickel), EK full r3e waterblock. runing on 2 loops with mcp655 pumps with XSPC d5 reservoirs ( 1x swiftech 320rad for cpu and mobo and 2x feser 360 rads for GPUs)
PS: I herd r3e with 980x often gets fried (mobo and cpu) while OCed.
Guys i have question. Had someone this r3e with noctua NH-D14 ? Because im intresting how that look when i put gpu to the first pcie slot.
PS.
OK, I found it ... page 33 ;)
Anyone tested the crazy 4ghz and crazy 4.2ghz profiles in r3e for 980x ?
Is it safe, stable ?
Something for the eyes,EK R3E@black Nickel :)

One of the most effective air coolers but,
I noticed from the pics that for this noctua NH-D14 to fit, slot 1 of RAM must be epmty, and even then it looks like it touches the RAM in slot 2.

Not good if you need to use all 6 slots.
And this is on a Rampage II Extreme. It also covers half of the NB. Would not be possible to have the Active NB hsf on R3E. I don't know what kind of fit you would get in R3E and how much would need to be sacrificed to fit this in, but losing 1 mem slot is unacceptable for me at least !
Some interesting Air-cooling comparisons with Temperature benchmarks here,

Running 4.138Ghz daily at 1.31v with no issues. The key is to drop the CPU PLL from 1.8v to 1.4v. It's not hard at all to run the 980x at 4.2Ghz daily.
On a side note, I was given a bios at Quake Con in attempt to fix an issue I had, turned out to be something totally different causing the issue. Anyway, I was told it would probably be labeled Bios 1000, but it looks a lot like 0009. I was told it had improved memory performance. I will try and get some pics up later this week of the bios settings, but as I stated already, it looks a lot like 0009.
