i dont wanna jinx it yet, but it seems that i got rid of the 1x issue, not enought resets yet to be sure but for now its ok......
what i did is changed all the voltages concerning the mobo (didnt tuch my vcore and vdimm) from auto to lowest with only vmch beeing at 1.45v
Ive never had x1 thing, no matter what voltages i use. I never use auto though except for vich.

I have problems with overclocking. if i put more then 325 mhz FSb, my whole computer will freeze. My vcore is 1.40v and i think it's enough, for <3ghz, right?

I use 1.5v, in pc probe II it reports 1.5v but when i start orthos, it goes to 1.45v, then it's getting instable(orthos reports error), this all on 3.6ghz. Is this right? Do i just need some little more vcore, so it gets under load on 1.5v too?

The p5b (-d) has some issues around 300~~350.
Just set it higher.
That guide is not made for 24/7 use overclockers. I would better use lower voltages.
I think the first thing that stops you would be the memory, especially if you have value ram, those doesnt clock much over their official freqs.
-Vfsb=1.3V
-VNB=1.45V
-vich=lowest
-vsb=1.6V /1.7V
Vcore=set it to auto till you found the limit

I happened to get a cheap GF7950GT from my friend (who upgraded to a 8800GTX) and managed to prove, that at least in my case the 1x problem is not related to the graphics card manufacturer. The nvidia card boots up nice, no more those vga error beep sequences and messed up windows screens, but the 1x problem manifests itself just the same as with the X800XT. Cold boot is fine, restarts result in 1x. It's actually more difficult with this, with the ATI card you knew from the beep sequence that the fight was lost. The Nvidia card on the other hand doesn't do that, so you end up booting fine all the way to Windows before noticing that it's 1x time again... Uh-oh.

I use the x8 multiplier for my e6600 (same batch as yours). Mine is at 425x8=3.4Ghz right now, and that was with not much effort. When the multiplier is set at nine, it pushes the NBCC at little too much, and can make OC'in a little uncomfortable. Try playing around with your settings, and see if can get things stable around 8x400. After that, it's your preference. Please post some settings when you get it stable, I interested if this board behaves the same to our processors.Quote:

Ok. It's definitely a combination of things. For me it was raise NB/SB to 1.45/1.6 and disable CGI and set PEG to Normal. I tried NB and SB changes alone and it was still x1, i tried CGI and PEG changes alone but still x1. Both combinations of settings made it x16. I also played with a few other things but it made no difference.
Funny thing is i never had to do ANY of this until today when i started playing with Rivatuner and ATI Tool :p: :banana:

I still believe this will not happen with 0614 bios.
It might be on newer C1 revision motherboards flashed from 0614 to 0711 and up.

I gave my P5B-D to my GF. Using a Pentium 4 630 and an Audigy 2 soundcard, the rest of the system is the same. No 1X PCIe problem :)
tried 8x multi seems my board likes it = ) running 485x8 instead och 420x9 gave a nice boost and my ram klocks and timings improved aswell running my teamgroup 2GB 6400 4 4 3 10 4 @ 970

This is the maximum windows bootable/1M benchable .
These days all test with 8x to see how it ll work out with the straps.
The 1X issue will be solved if you set your pci-e mhz to the sweet spot, for everyone its different, for me 110mhz fixed the 1x issue, for other 105 works.....so increase your mhz by 5 at a time, see wich one fixes it, most likely this will solve the issue, good luck.
