Ok I will stick to 295x9 or maybe 300x9 with ram 245.5 2-2-2-7 (7 for bandwidth :D ). It also runs way colder as it needs much less volts.
And btw Astennu, 285x9 in your sig is 2565... :stick:

Old CPU :) Got a new Opteron 165 CCB1E 0550 VPMW. But is not the King of clockers :). Need A c-ore mod on this board. My max is 1.45v in this A8R-MVP.Quote:

Hi all.
Received my Opty 175 0550 last week.
With air-cooling, (Thermalright XP 120) highest stable speed (dual prime) is 2.64 Ghz.
I decided to put this thing under water (dual heater core, TDX and D4), and highest stable speed is now 2.72ghz 1.55 vcore. Temps are 40 C. load.
It’s always core 0 failing.
Right now I’m running 2.7 ghz 1,52v, 10 hours dual prime stable, But for some reason super pi fails at all speeds. :slapass:
I have tested with underclocked speeds and different memory but superpi still fails (not exact in rounds).
What could be wrong? :stick:
The computer is stable in every other benchmark, game tested.
This is my timmingsQuote:

Strange. i had a similar problem with my old Athlon XP. Maybe A clean install of windows ? And redownload super pi ?Quote:

If you are using the Ballistix, your problem is 99,99% DRAM related: i have a rig VERY similar to your (Opteron 175 0550 UPMW, XP 120, 2x1Gb Ballistix, CM Stacker, etc.:) )Quote:

The Ballistix are by nature problematic but my Expert mobo increase the difficulty of the task: seems that i need to found the ONLY ONE(!!!) RIGHT SETTING to run perfectly my system with Ballistix ---> i'm asking over the world and of course i'm testing myself all possible settings to get them works fine.
PLUS: the 0550 UPMW seems VERY problematic itself with memory settings (at least the 175,others people reported that), especially with Ballistix ---> i have an explosive combo! :woot:
I'm sure that OC with this 175 stepping as well is restrained by Ballistix's instability
My system is game & bench tested also, without problem...BUT if you run a long session of Windows MemTest i'm pretty sure that lot of errors shows up!
:welcome: Welcome to XS. Sounds like you got a good 165. Most of us here just use this program to host ss.Quote:

(or if you really must resize it then imageshack does have a resize option right there on that page)

I'm still on that...
The Expert works in a (very) different way than a Ultra-D, so my settings are useless to you! (and vice-versa)
That's is why my task is even more difficult with the Expert :(
OMG :| i bought Ballistix because i did not want problems anymore :\ now it seems they are the problem :S. This realy sux.Quote:

maybe swap to AM2 and just run this one as it is.... I don't know anygood memory of 2x1gb exept ballistix. I would like 300 MHz. or 250 @ cl 2/ 2.5.
someone have problems with tccd memory´s??? my tccd do 300 at 2.5-3-3-6 with 2,85v.. when i put the 165 at 2800mhz the memory do only 260+/- if i put 2900 they do only 240+/- if i pass de 2950 they do only 200.. someone can help me??
Yesterday i recieved a opteron 175 0550 UPMW0107, i did some testing but i m already at 1.568 volt to get 2970 mhz stable, how many more volt can i put on the core s to go higher, or do i have to burn in the cpu now to continue ?
Yah if your getting good temps then there is no need to take it off. I poped mine off the other day, and temps are maybe 1-2c better and the overclock is about the same.
My core0 is weak as well, core1 goes all the way up to 311x9(highest i tried) with 1.45v. Core 0 craps out after less than an hour.
Here´s one of my Opteron 170 :

It´s a 0550 VPMW
And here´s an old 0550 UPMW of mine:

That was my first Opteron 170:

One of the (if not the) best Dual-Core seen so far. :clap:Quote:

What watercooling you using? and what mobo?
no one can help with the most stable timmings in a64tweaker with opteron 165 e tccd???
Can it be the memory controller in the Optys is weaker? I thought it could be better, but with the SAME settings (except lower voltage) as my Venice, using the timings on my sig, the Everest Latency was:Quote:

Maybe it is because the proc is dual core? Never had a DC before
if i put my bh5 memory´s i don´t have any problem.. i use my bh5 at 255 fsb and the cpu at 3000mhzQuote:

Why arent any of you using it
I'm using the stock heatpipe HSF. it works just fine, my temp is about 30C idle/51C load @300x9 1.275v%110%. The only problem with this HSF is that it's not as large or tall as those 120mm heatsink which can help cooling the PWMIC and RAM a little bit. I don't have a thermal sensor on the RAM but my PWMIC temp hits 65C under load.:( I'm having a SI-120 which is supposed to come tomorrow, hopefully it will cool down the PWMIC.:)Quote:
