My 2500k is the same - its cpu pll overvoltage it doesnt like. I need 1.8cpu pll for 100bclk, 1.92cpu pll for 105.5bclk. vccsa stock 0.925v. Takes 1.58v for 5.2ghz, 1.52v for 5ghz and 1.45v for 4.8ghz. 49x max multi. Using cpu pll overvolt gets me up to 53x but its never stable in prime or gaming. Linx and superpi are fine, 3dmark 50/50.Quote:

Im stable right now for my 24/7 clock at 47 x 102.2. If I enable PLL overvoltage it crashes gaming :). PLL OV for this chip doesnt give true stability at the higher cpu speed. Increasing CPU PLL was the key to stability at high clocks.
My first board didnt have PLL OV enabled in bios for the first few weeks so I found the limits with what I had at the time. Even when it was added to bios it only helped for benchmarking. It didnt give any extra 24/7 stability and just masked instability issues during short testing.
I've since swapped boards to a P8P67-Pro thinking it was the board doing this and its just the same. Im hoping to get another 2500k shortly so I guess I'll find out for sure then.
Haven't really pushed the envelope with OCing yet but so far I've set my 2500k @ 4.2GHz on 1.044V. Been running 24/7 stable for almost a month now. I'm not lookin for 5Ghz, but I'd really like to hit 4.5 at some point when I feel like tweaking more.

Gigabyte P67X UD3-B3 motherboard with a Xigmatek Gaia cooler. Think I'll be able to hit my goal of 4.5GHz?
Decided to try a 16gb kit from my x79 board in this p67 while Im waiting for a 3930k. G.Skill Ripjaws Z 2133 c9-11-10. Didnt spend much time tweaking, but it was pretty easy to run 16gb of mem without much time spent on settings/voltages. W7-64 no tweaks, 1.38VCore set in bios LLC7 1.66VDimm, 1.160VTT for 5ghz. For 5.6ghz VCore is high, didnt spend time trying to lower it just for a 32m run. Water cooled. Not sure the batch#, just grabbed a chip from the drawer labled "good" from the plastic bin I keep hardware in. Im pretty sure its a costa rica.

I have a sealed Batch L137B605 and a sealed Batch L037B039 and I can't decide which one to crack open.
I plan on selling the other one and the anxiety is keeeeeeling meeeeee. :D
And, no, I won't tell you where I got that L037 chip. ;)
Any thoughts here for which one to take the plunge with?
I'm a bit skeered to jump in with a Engineering Sample as a daily driver on a high overclock, so I'm leaning towards to the other one.
BUT, if I go with the other one, it might be a little trickier finding a buyer for the little Golden Chip.
Decisions, decisions.
Test them both then keep the one you wish, bench results will sell the other.:D
It's been tested with a DMM that Internal PLL Overvoltage does not change the CPU PLL voltage at all. What is changes is anyone's guess. But this setting did not work on Engineering sample steppings (I believe the cpu's failed to POST). Only worked on final silicon. What it actually changes is anyone's guess...Quote:

I was passing prime at 1.6315xxx on CPU PLL but I would BSOD whilst playing BF3, so I bumped the CPU PLL to 1.800 and now it has been stable...

I do not have the best of cooling (TT Frio) but now 5.0GHZ is stable at 1.41*v and still testing to try for lower voltage!
My 2600k was good to 4.8GHZ with lowish voltages then not stable at 4.9GHZ with decent voltages and not stable at all at 5GHZ with any safe voltages or even a tad higher for quick test as it failed in 30seconds max in even basic IBT tests!
In testing I mean proper testing not quick PI tests like some claiming 5GHZ on 1.35*v, I am running Prime 95 and IBT at Max settings but not overnight or anything near as long for Prime95 till I get to my limit then I will do so!
