It certainly does help !!! Certainly not obvious now is it ? No mention of this in the instruction manual whatsoever.
Thanks a million !

Yes you are right. Not only is it not obvious, it's as if Asus is trying to hide the fact. I remember I even went on Asus's website to check maybe if there was an updated version of the manual that did include instructions, but nope. If I remember correctly, I discovered the solution after reading an Asus customer support rep's response to a negative review of the R3E on newegg. The particular owner also found no instructions for setting RAID on the marvell so Asus had quickly responded with instructions. So much unnecessary confusion for such a small oversight right? Well anyways I'm glad I was able to help
Also just thought if someone can please provide some insight on this:
I am currently running two 1tb hitachi 7200rpm sata2 drives in RAID0 configuration on the marvell controller. Seeing how it performs poorly compared to the Intel ICH10R, I was wondering if it would actually be more beneficial for me to run them as single drives rather than RAID0 and on the Intel controller instead?
Can you share bios pls.
I was wondering how you people get all this incredibly nifty information ! So you're not super advanced aliens with oversized frontal lobes, nor secret tech agents from Intel or Asus, after all !
I hope someone with better info than me can answer you. I am unable to provide a conclusive answer, but want to help you any way I can with whatever info that I can, just as you all help me.
So. from this Bench http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2...hput,1010.html
I see a Hitachi Deskstar 7K1000.C HDS721010CLA332, 1000 GB, 7200rpm, 32 MB Cache. Is this your drive ?
You didn't specify. If so then look at the results.
You can see all the Bench results here http://www.tomshardware.com/charts/2...hmarks,50.html
Now run h2benchw 3.12 on you system with HDD's on the Marvell and RAID 0. (Other Benches were also used on the second link).
Compare your results to these for a single disk.
I was unable to find what controller they were run on. I realize this is important but what can we do? But the Bench was in 2009 and I assume the HDD's were just plugged into a motherboard SATAII port so very likely it is a typical Intel chipset, maybe even X58 (ICH10), so ...
On this post http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=2021
turtletrax had asked fmsam to post his results for a single drive on Marvell so that he can compare it to what he was getting on the Intel. And agrees that the results are pretty much the same.
But with RAID 0 on Marvell fmsam got this http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...postcount=2012
(and I agree with fmsam that these are perfectly decent results)
So this should strongly indicate (if not prove) that a single drive on Intel is NOT better than two of them in RAID 0 on Marvell.
So how's that for a reply ? Huh ?
Ahhh yes 0002 I meant that one ;) Maybe he got in trouble for posting hehe
no guys i got no trouble here,i deleted my own posting about Bios 0002
because 11 pns in 10 minutes sucks
bios 0002 is here,i will NOT share this bios because i was told not to do POINT
i dont post further Screenshots about new internal Alpha/Beta Bios because most of the guys here go crazy if they see a new bios
and i told all the guys that i was told not to share
why further "pushing" via pn???
Hello RE3ers...building a new PC with 980x, RE3 mobo and 2X Corsair CMT6GX3M3A2000C8 12GB total with Enermax 1.2Kw PSU. PSU is in RMA process, I did run the rig for a little while, I had to go down to a single dim in the red slot to make the PC boot. Few questions:
1. Single dimm. I have 6 dimms. Do I simply need to update the BIOS the most recent one to make it happy for all 6 dimms to go in?
2. BIOS settings. Before OCing I need stable BIOS settings manually configured - can someone send me there stable non-OC settings?
3. GPU is 1x 4970 - should I connect the molex ports on the mobo? Following devices will use PCI slots: slot1=4970(triple slot due to slient cooler) slot3=Atto infiniband raid card, PCI=backplane used to install 720XT add-in card slot4=KillerNIC 2100 or whatever its called.
4. What is the BIOS I should upgrading to? Does the usb upgrade thing via the rog button actually work? Any guide on this?
spoolindsm127: Thank u so much for posting that tip...realised after I RMA'ed the PSU...ur post confirmed it;-)
i deleted my post a day ago
why posting Leeghoofd?
@donmarkoni
is it safe to run 1.4125 cpu/vtt on daily use with 3500 uncore..?
Sorry, I missed your first question. :(
1. If your MB set VTT to 1.4125 while on Auto, you should try to lower it, as it's probably higher then needed.
2. IMO, rev. C0 CPU's can take much abusing. I had one and it's still working fine at my friend's rig. :D :knockonwood: So, you are probably safe, but as I said, try lower voltage.
TO EVERYBODY: QUESTION: Has anyone noticed change in how Windows sees your CPU after turning 2D Booster ON?
2D Booster Disabled

2D Booster Enabled

ooooh aaaahh the tripple zero model. where can I get me one o them? ;)
Hi guys got few questions about my RMAed R3E. The 1st noob questions is, how do you get rid of no CPU fan msg on boot ( my system is all watercooled). And the other question is about the safe OC settings for this board with 980x and 2x gtx480s for every day use.
-----------------------------
i7 980x extreme
6gb ddr3 corsair dominator gt 2k mhz
Asus R3e (0802 bios)
EVGA GTX480 hydro x2
Crucial RealSSD 256mb SATA3 HDD + WD 1tb caviar black
Turbocool 1200w PSU (pc power&cooling)
waterblocks: Apogee XT ( replacing with EK HF all nickel), EK full r3e waterblock. runing on 2 loops with mcp655 pumps on XSPC d5 reservoirs
PS: I herd r3e with 980x often gets fried (mobo and cpu) while OCed.
