Anyone flash 2007/04/26?
Has anybody been able to figure out why the board stops scaling with clockgen @ 546FSb?
Is there any workaround with this or is the board maxed out at this point?
I hope not though b/c this is an incredibly interesting OCing board............
I have. Didn't make any difference to how it ran at all. So I can't say there's anything wrong with this bios.Quote:

I havn't had much luck past 450FSB let alone 546FSB. Then again I havn't pushed anymore than 1.66V through the NB.
I would say at 546FSB you're really at the board's limits. What cooling have you got on the Northbridge out of interest?

Concerning the heatsink, it is running with the stock one, occasionally w/ a piece of DICE dancing on top:p:
When I was benching netburst based chips it really did not get that hot.
It was not till I started benching w/ Conroes that it would get so hot that it would actually melt the neoprene next to it. I would bench for four to five hours at at time with the NB chipset under this constant stress and I must admit that it handled it quite well.
It's ok. I have been playing with it for a while, and it does not seem ot provide any limits in comparison to previous bioses, but doesn't really seem to improve much either. Still unable to install Vista w/ Kentsfield, and I get database corruption in XP too, both problems are even evident @ speeds lower than stock. The dualcore performance is fantastic, the quad is not so great. I had hope to pair this board up with kents and R600's w/ Vista for an ATI DX10 rig, but sadly this does not seem possible @ this point.
On a side note tho, if you install Vista using dualcore, this latest bios does seem much more stable for quads in VIsta, as long as everything is installed w/ dualcore first, including updates and drivers, and then install quad cpu. It's a crock.
few days ago I got my mem. from RMA so I wanted to test it, I put both sticks in and I get a C1. I use one stick but this time with 2.0V, again a C1, then 2.2V another C1. Didn't want to go higher, but the strange part is that each stick would run on 1.84V without the C1 but on it's own, if I put both I get a C1, if just one, they run normally, I think it's the board, what do you guys think?
I'm going nuts with this board already... :shakes:
did you try different slots? are the channel settings in bios set to auto? have you tried setting the timings manually? if you can get into windows with each stick, use cpu-z to find out your spd timings. they may be different. (i got a stick 10th ann rma'd and the one i got back had 5-3-3 original says 3-3-3).
if all else fails then try two different sticks if you can. if that doesn't work then i guess it's the board.
just noticed you are using a mcw30 to cool the chipset, make sure that it is getting perfect contact or you will get weird boot issues. i open pchealth as soon as i get into bios and check temps, the slightest bump of a hose on mine can cause temps to jump 30c.
the mcw30 has perfect contact, temps don't go over 50C, I had problems with it before (chipped core, maybe that's it), but now it has great contact.
I tried different slots, yellow/orange, didn't try combination of the two cause that wouldn't be dual channel (but I'll try that if everything else fails).
the sticks are matched pair, got a brand new kit, settings are at auto, checked that first, even reflashing and clearing the CMOS didn't help.
I tried setting the timings manually too, the memory now runs at 2.1V 505MHz 4-4-4-12 2T, so basically stock with little less volts but only one stick (doesn't matter which, as long as it's one).
and I don't have spare memory to try different sticks, thnx for trying to help...
might be bad set...unfortunately it DOES hapen, even with GKX.:yepp:
on a side note...for those using dual r600's in this board and an Enermax Galaxy DXX...
To use the psu and board together properly:
please plug in the 8-pin cpu connector,
use the adapter for secondary 4+4 cpu connector for first floppy plug on board(so board gets 12v rails 1/2),
sleeved 8-pin pci-e connector gets no use unless you add third card.
FIrst card gets unsleeved 8-pin pci-e(so you can enable overdrive if wanted) as well as pci-e 6-pin from rail 5 using modular cable(gives card 1 12v rails 3, and 5.)
Second card get unsleeved 6-pin pci-e attached to unsleeved 8-pin connector, and 6-pin pci-e modular(gives card 12v rail 4, and rail 5)
If you use water pump, connect this to the molex connectors already attached to psu.
Drives get plugged in on sata connectors already on psu, and if more are needed, use modular connector, but it may make more sense to use adapters from molex already attached to psu, so as to spread out the load.
This config will allow for overdrive, and will not make the psu squeal...however, if you plug in BOTH 8-pin pci-e connectors, and are using an overclocked quad, this psu is gonna tkae a beating from beeing severely crossloaded on the 12v.
So, yeah, in case you missed it, Overdrive for HD2900XT Crossfire only requires that the first card have the 8-pin pci-e....
Interesting bit of information on the crossfire R600's...I'll remember that.
Overall I love this board. I have stepped my OC back to 266x9 with the E4300 but have the memory at 1,070 5-5-5-15 2T with memory timings described by RyderOCZ for this ram and it works great. The cpu/mobo will do 356x9 with 1.312v but the chipset starts to get freaking hot due to the concave NB heatsink and my inability to replace it at the moment. As soon as I can I'll be getting an HR-05 for the chipset and an Ultra-120 Extreme for the CPU so I can scale my OC back up, but overall this board kicks a$$ and is so flexible it's simply a joy to work with.
I'll try this set in an another board to prove it is good cause I don't believe it's faulty...Quote:

It was the board, the ram worked normally in my friend's comp.
the board would run both sticks only in 1. & 2. slot, in single channel of course, slots 3 & 4 won't even run with single stick, also the board doesn't OC as good anymore, but I'm still exploring that (best result: 3.5GHz, 1.4V set in BIOS, all other volts at stock)
I'm so not happy with this board, I wish there was another DFI board with async, I'd take it immediately... :shakes:
i have a new setup i want to max out.
E6300,icfx3200,ballistix tracer 6400, and ocz 700w gxt PS.
apogee, mcw30, mcp 350, 2X mcr120 sandwitched with yates all 1/2" primoflex.
want to hit 3577 on cpu and ram whereever it tops out.
right now a single stick runs and the other C1s so i'm gonna rma.
what bios is best and where should i be on cpu voltage?
anyone had issues running 4x1gb with this mb?ive a friend thats having major headaches getting 4x1gb team d9s to run anything over 800mhz 4-4-4-12.with 2x1gb everything was fine.he was running 1000mhz 4-4-4-12 24/7 no probs but now with 4x1gb he cant even post at 800mhz same timings and voltage?any idea what may be the issue?
needs more chipset voltage. It's like running 1t sync...almost...in it's need for power running 4x1GB.
like 1.525v real for me, while 2x1gb required 1.425...although this may vary from board to board, and also seems to depend a bit on how cool your chipset is(less leakage).
Anyone have success running vista(32 or 64) on this mother board?Myselfe and few others have frequent BSOD.No oc.Ram pass memtest.
i have 2 Spphire hd 2900XT my best klock on stock 990/1150 thats really good i think...
Quadcore? this board only install Vista with ATI RAID and Vista 32, Core2 ONLY!!!!!
They have abandoned this board, needs new bios to fix this very old issue, but i see no such bios form them, even called about it(actually called about my last dead board)....and they said they would not replace my faulty board(quality issue, not my fault), so DFI gets a big ignore from me for a bit!
:shakes:
Core 2.Switched from 32-bit to 64.No known issues so far.Sorry about your luck.Waiting on x38.:)
Edit:Spoke to soon.Just had a Bsod on vista 64.
I'm going to RMA my mobo, so I was wondering how is it going with DFI? how long does it take for them to process the RMA, has anyone RMAed this board with a lapped NB HS?
thnx for your answers
