I finally did get the motherboard and ram to stop fighting with each other, But then the ram is at 266MHz and the cpu is at 3.46GHz or so and has been since about 7pm last night, It could be this ram and the bios really don't like each other. If I want nore speed I guess there is always the multiplier of 14, It's running at 13 now. Timing is now at 4-5-5-15-43 of course. :DQuote:

Ram is now at 273MHz, I had tried 275MHz, But the aw9d-max bluescreened as I posted My previous post. 272MHz has proven stable of course and 273MHz may also be stable, Timing is at 4-4-4-10-42 just like in the P5W, This Bios really isn't ready or totally compatible w/a QX6700 cpu or OCZ PC2-8000 ram(Gold), Where as the P5W DHD is, The P5W will do 2:3 all day long at 419MHz(ram) where the AW9D-MAX can barely do 1:1.Quote:

Well I have the Vigor on 3 of My 4 Pcs, Just not on PC2, yet, All show temps in the mid 30's to lower 40's, The Max on the other hand It doesn't allow speedfan 4.31 to read the temps, Use 4.32 beta 8 Instead, I get 60C to 65C then(100% loaded), But not much else(No adjustments), the front panel reads what the cold plate reads and the TEC is a 50w unit that is built in to the heatsink. PC1 has a reading of 51C @ 3.38GHz at the panel and the cpu temps are currently 41C, PC4 has a panel readout of 44C @ 3.54GHz(Note My sig for speed, Abit needs to fix that, among other things) so the cpu temp for PC4 is about 34C. My PC3 has two Vigors inside It and the panel Temps are 38C/37C and It's a dual cpu and dual core PC It's an Asus K8N-DL the temps there range from 43C to 53C. PC2 uses an Thermalright XP-120 of course(2.6GHz). :DQuote:

The bios on the AW9D isnt buggy at all. Stop running 5-6-6 timings, they are not fast at all.
speedfan/coretemp/mobo utilities are not accurate on cpu temps, so if you believe them, your a tool.

TECs on air do not work well on any cpus, let alone cpus that can pull 200+ watts, your crappy little air cooler just isnt powerful enough to dissipate 300 watts of power here...
Crappy ram on a bios that runs tight timings = bad. There are alot more alphpas than what the bios shows you, you coulda gone and looked though memset instead of crying about it here, or you coulda just bought micron and not PC-8000 crap ram.Quote:

THIS BOARD WORKS FINE, ONLY YOU ARE NOT USING IT PROPERLY.
1) throw the TEC AWAY!, get a real air cooler like the Tower 120.
2) Get a NB cooler
3) get RAM that isnt crap, or at least run memset.
4) run 18*200 @ 1:1, no more ram issues. When you get to be a better overclocker, you can try something like 333*11 or 333*12

My TEC cooler works good Temp on the front panel is 42C right now on PC4, On PC1 It's 50C(Hardware temp), Depends on how cool the room is really, Their are 4 PCs here and the A/C is going to be put back together on the 13th[My manufactured house was moved after I bought the place], Until then a portable swamp cooler cools the room.Quote:

Yes, there is no way around that, use a higher multiplier on the two cores, or use the boot.ini switch to turn off two cores. Why you are running 800 mhz, I have no clue, that is just wrong. Run 1066 or 1333. And again, your ram isnt good, so it will take alot of tweaking on memset to get it working well.Quote:

So what? OCZ Gold isnt an overclockers module, it isnt going to run what you want it to do on a board that can only run tight as crap settings.Quote:

Nothing has changed,
1) ditch the crappy TEC cooler, it isnt good. A yate-loon on a Big Typhoon would cool better.
2) get a Swiftec MCX-119 for the NB
3) get rid of the crappy ram, or take the time to use memset to tweak around it
4) learn what the bios settings actually do, dont just run things "because some random told me to"
The AW9D isnt an easy board to clock well, and starting with a Quadcore and non-micron is going to make it alot harder on you. Just give it some time and you will reap the rewards.
I initially had only minimal success with my FX60, only getting ~2950 on air.. With a proper remount(just learning how to mount well on a ihs-less cpu) I benched @ 3100 mhz on air :)
Document what settings you try, and what results they give you, and you should have more success.
