any better place to get em yet? i dont like spending more on heatsinks than on cpus..

thats a wee bit hard considering the CPUs are ~$10! :p:
I'm going back to sossaman too.. after much deliberation about what I need/want in a server.. I'm going to put a 8 port SATA PCIX card in the PCIX slot & a 16 port SATA/SAS HBA in the PCIEx8 slot.. that gives me a max of 30 SATA ports (without port multipliers attached to the onboard SI3124).
so the mobo, CPU & RAM is cheap enough & easy to get.. but where to get appropriate heatsinks? :D
any of the supermicro mobo owners have any problems/quirks to report?
are u / can u use both PCIEx8 slots?
cheers
finally going to throw one of these rigs together so i had to do a little back searching for the mobo in this thread. this same place has them on ebay too for the same price shipped as they sell in the store.

on another note.
i spent 35$ on the whole second sammy :D 9$ more than those silly expensive heatsinks.
Looking good. Looks very clean. I think you should leave it right where it is. It goes well with the upholstery on your couch. ;)
It' doesn't look like he's able to answer
mmm this looks so interesting! a couple of questions though..
1) can windows 7 or any other 32bit OS see 4GB or more?
2) places to obtain the heatsinks or cheaply mod ones?
im mainly interestied cuz its so inexpensive for a whole setup and it draws so little power... ive been missing out!
Modding heatsinks is possible ... but kinda fiddly. I've posted a link to where they can be bought pretty cheaply considering they fit one and only one motherboard in this thread not long ago.
As for the memory, any server operating system SHOULD (and I've been assured here that Windows Server does) have the necessary extras to handle more RAM, though I don't think the desktop version will.
IM BACK SUCKAS!
took a small vacation :)
i spent 35$ on the second rig and a total of 15$ on the first 2 heatsinks :)
will get some more pics of the upgrades :) got 2 nano wireless adapters for em. now i can stuff em in my closet
And to think I spent nearly $200 on my first sammy when I built it. Wow.
 i wish i could get a complete sammy rig for that much!!
here it is. almost done. just need to buy 4x noctua 80mm fans & 2x Antec SpotCool :) but its runnin. 2 comps only 1 cable going to em, power. at full tilt pulls 208watts from the wall :D

and its ready for me to add my 9800gtx+ when i get a new videocard :) as it has one 6pin and 200watts to spair
