A San Diego core running at 2.8ghz with stock voltage has a TDP of 104watts, obviously more with higher voltage. I am sure that chip is burning up with his Zalman unless he has his PC outside in the snow.

Overclocked Power Output = Default Power Output * ( Overclocked Core Speed / Default Core Speed ) * ( Overclocked Voltage / Default Voltage )² gives a TDP of about 155W, assuming stock is 1.35v. That's...positively scary, way more than I was running back in the Mobile Barton days with a 2500+ at 2.75GHz on 2v under an SP-97 and a 92mm Tornado. That was significantly better cooling than a 7700, too...

EDIT - But he does live in Finland, and it is the end of October...:p:

Unfortunately, now that the word is wide spread, anyone would be crazy not to sell their CABNE @ ebay now, seeing the prices they're getting. I have a hunch this one goes over $400. :eek:

Yeah i've seen (and laughed at) all of those. While I really want a good chip i'm not going to stoop to buying one at an outrageous price, I still remember when overclocking was all about value. :)

I'll just be a bit patient and do my best to use some contacts to try and get a decent sepping at retail price. Luckily I have a friend with long arms and he's doing his best to get one too so if he scores there's a good chance i'll score, lol.

Kinda makes you wish you got in early on the show though instead of arriving late and missing the best act. :)

I have ordered 40 Opteron 146 (Delivery at end of November), and 15 Opteron 165 Dual Core (Delivery in 2 weeks).
Ocing of Dual Core soon :D

Hi, long time not posting.
Well, i got an opty 144 CABYE 0536GPMW(max Tcase 59C) and put it on test. These are my initial results, cooled by a crappy TT Polo 735:

2,7Ghz @1.45v / 2,8Ghz @1.55v seems stable
2,9Ghz @1.65v only SuperPi 1M completed (max temp reaches 58C :( )

I know is not the best but i'm happy after been remplaced my old Winnie :)
Eitherway that opty is having an excellent MemController, holding as much as 322Mhz 2,5-4-3-7 1T on quick benches.

I'm thinking on taking the IHS out or purchasing a TT Big typhoon. Would it help getting some extra speed and making it more stable?

Richdog, you might want to contact computersmsa about getting a opteron. He's been selling a ton over at another forum.

It's not that great for the US people, since shipping is about 41 Euro.

for those who wants the CABNE badly, you should check the compumusic.com constantly, they have international shipping too and they're very good at posting the steppings for their opterons, if you ask them nicely they'll even get you the batch number!!

Not bad BioPC, did you tried that 510-2FixMod BIOS? Go ahead and take that IHS, you'll get at least 5C temp drop at load and at least 20mhz headroom for spi1m. If take down IHS make sure you put a little more than always thermal compound on cpu such as artic silver 5. Don't know if Typhoon will help, you should test your pc in cold place, I'm taking my pc to garage today and temp outside is 7C so far and keeps dropping. I'll report my results back :D

You must declare your exportation at the census for more than 10 000$ I think (I'm not americain).

Thanks, your ram settings helped me much on getting more stability. Ram settings MAL and RP does work nice on 8ns and 5.5ns over 600DDR.
I'll give a try on that 510-2Fix bios as well as many others when i get more time. 704-2BTA and 623-3 are the ones i tested.
Since i see you're using same level of cooler as mine, tell me if you get beter results after your testing ;)

Boy, that tref (1552 clocks in BIOS) gave me extra 200mb/s of bandwidth :woot: By those above settings I get best results with my TCC5, but they only do 2.5-3-3-5 up to ~240HTT :( When you get that opty stable optimize your timings, your sticks are not from this planet lol :toast:

EDIT: Sorry, it was actually 16C outside not 6 lol, but if went to 12C as I started my PC, actually my cpu primed just little better but not much, will test when temp get to around 0C outside.

My load temp were around 5C lower which almost nothing

My ram craps out at 304fsb with this opty, however, I was able to save above screenie without my PC crashing

So right now I'm not sure, but better cooler such a BigTyphoon would help a bit. Damn, this cpu is weird, primes only up to 2.85GHz but can hit ~3.3Ghz suicide screenie or even more :confused:

hey my load temp is only 55c and idle 32c :) and room temp 26c :fact:

and between cpu and zalman there is only poor white thermal compound... :D
